Burning and coughing

sometimes I get a burning/chocking feeling upon exhal. I just started yesterday. I have a smok al85 and using naked berry lush 6 juice if that helps. I am at 40watts (which is the lowest recomended for the coil). It's a half and half chance that it will ether kick my ass or be ok however it feels like it is drying out my throat. Any suggestions?

You can turn down the wattage even more from the "recommended" level - I find they are often too high

With that said, if you are trying to quit smoking, it is very common to cough some when vaping, as your body and lungs begin to expel all the built up toxins in your lungs and throat

Drink plenty of water and keep vaping - everyone is different as to when the coughing stops being an issue :)

And welcome to VU

Thank you for the welcome and info!! Now other question if you don't mind. Is crackiling normal?

Usually - I'm not familiar enough with your vape to know how much is too much or a problem

Coughing is the bodies natural reaction the first couple of weeks of vaping until your lungs know the difference.

What happens is your lungs think they are drowning in fluid with sending a message to cough it out.

And since coughing your throat is getting irritated, and dry.

So drink plenty of water, and you will over come this in time.

Looks like this might be what you have:

https://www.elementvape.com/smok-al85-alien-baby-85w-tc-starter-kit

In which case, it's probably got either a 0.2 ohm or a 0.15 ohm coil in the TFV8 Baby Beast tank.

Question, and please don't be insulted - did anyone teach you how to inhale on a direct-to-lung, sub-ohm tank?

Also, you said "burning." Is that like a metallic burning, or is it burning from the vapor being hot, or something else? If it's metallic tasting, your coil isn't primed well enough, or perhaps has burned from being fired dry. If it's from the vapor being hot, it's probably caused by the way you're drawing on the tank.

Good luck. You'll work it out. :)

Drink a lot more water. PG absorbs water, like from your throat, causing a dry coughy feeling. Drinking extra water helps. Keep a glass in the bathroom and when you go in.... take a drink. The glass will remind you.
