Anyone have any luck using this tank for MTL vaping? I have one that came with an Odyssey Mini kit, and I want to love it, but actually, I haven't been able to get a decent, comfortable hit off it with any of the coils that came with it.

I've tried most often with the 1.8 ohm Clapton coil, have even bought new replacements and put a new coil in it, and every time I try to draw on it, it feels like someone stuck a match to the back of my throat.

Juice in it is 70/30 vg/pg, 12 mg, running it to stay around 4.5V or about 12 or 13 watts for MTL.

Things just got worse when I tried the 1.2 ohm coil.

I might try sub-ohming it again, now that I'm a little more familiar with how to do that, but my god, I'm afraid it might kill me!

This tank takes the Nautilus coil, which in my opinion, is the best above ohm coil out there. At 1.8ohm you need a higher PG juice. I vaped my nautilus coils at 60PG.

Well, that's another thing. Very nearly everywhere I've read that the Triton Mini takes Nautilus coils, but my Nautilus coils will not work in this tank, and my Triton Mini coils will not work in my Nautilus mini. Haven't tried the Triton Mini coils in the regular sized Nautilus.

I have some low vg juice, 70/30 I think. I'll try that.

Thanks for responding!

Jane

ETA: I filled the tank with the 70/30, and that does help. Still not nearly as good as a Nautilus, takes two or three repeated puffs to get good vapor out of it, like the coil is just warming up slowly. That sounds like it needs a new coil. I think the one in it is almost new, but wth, I'll try that next.

Do you have Nautilus BVC coils? They should be working with Triton Mini, as Countrypami mentioned for MTL they are still one of the best ones around. Nautilus X coils wouldn't be compatible.

Yes. Nautilus BVC coils, the ones I use in my regular Nautilus and Nautilus Mini. Also have Aspire BDC and BVC coils but I know those aren't the ones we're talking about here.

I wonder if something is just wrong with this tank.

Thanks!

Can you post a couple up close pics of the tank assembled and where the coil screws in?

Triton Mini Pic 1.jpg

The lighting in my house is terrible so I don't know if you can see what you need to see or not. Getting a pic of where the coil screws in is going to be a trick. I'm a rotten photographer, as you can see. Oh, I just added that glass drip tip. It cools things off a bit.

Do you want the pic with or without the coil installed?

ETA: Ok, the coil is gross. I'm replacing it. I will try a Nautilus coil again, just to see.

ETA2: The bitch fired that Nautilus coil this time. I'm letting it sit for a few minutes, but will see how it vapes shortly. Do have pics of the base and the coil I put in it, but will hold off until I see if this coil does better. I will say, part of the problem I have with this tank is the airflow. It's soooo airy I have to damn near choke it completely down to get a medium-tight draw on it.

Listen, y'all, I cannot thank you enough. It's a lot better, and when I added some 50/50 lemon pound cake to it, that did the trick. Took some of the harshness out.

The Nautilus coil makes a lot of difference in the airflow. I don't have to nearly close it off now. The air intake on the Nautilus must be more restricted than on the Triton Mini coils.

Yay! It's like having vape mail! :stars:

Without the coil
Looks like your airflow is closed... also be sure the filling hole is set to vape and not fill.

Hey y'all, want to say, the longer I used that Triton Mini last night and this morning, the better it got. Guess the coil got broken in. Man. I think it's gone from my least favorite to maybe my second favorite, behind only my Kabuki clone. (I sure wish I could afford a legit Kabuki. Have to save my pennies.)

Thank you again!

So I got that nifty banner thingy that tells me I've saved over $16,000 since I quit smoking. That's ammunition for the next time my husband rolls his eyes at me when new trinkets come in the mail. :vapemail:

Just to revisit this one more time, this Triton Mini has turned out to be some kinda wonderful, now that you folks helped me get it situated.

Thanks again!
