I should replace my Kylin RTA coils

After posting here a lot recently, I realized the coils that are in there aren't the best. They do read what they should. 2 .45ohm Alien Claptons reading at .22 on my Smoant Cylon 218w.

Which coils should I get off AVS?

Are you looking for flavors or looking for clouds? The best coil is the one that works and gives you what you want.

I would just get a coil of wire and wrap it a few times and call it a coil.

How many watts do you want to run? How warm fo you want the vapor? Do you want BOLD flavor or nuanced flavors?

Get you a roll of 22 Gauge Kanthal, do 5 wraps spaced around a 3mm screwdriver, put some cotton through it and enjoy your vape. It will do very well at that temp and give you good strong flavor flavor and a a slightly warm vape (especially once you get 65+ watts). Its super simple and easy to maintain.

Since I have time today I’m probably going to change my coils but I haven’t got my new ones from Advanced Vape supply yet.

Tiger or staggered Clapton’s... hm

It doesn’t matter too much because once these come in I’m putting them in immediately.

10 Pack Quad Core Fused Clapton Coils 316L SS (28gx4/36g) or (30gx4/40g)

× 1
30gx4/40g / 3.0mm / 6

Either of those will be awesome, I love 4x28 and 4x30 myself, enjoy man

4x30 duals, 3mm ID, 5 or 6 wraps is great right at 60 watts, or 50-70

Just checking resistance. These are going to chug juice.

I’m not sure I even want to use these. 24g seems overkill for a dual coil. I had 32g before. Hmmmm

Dude, it's the same issue as elsewhere you posted..

You start low and work up. I know folks that blithely speak of 75, 100, 200w on coils. Hell, I never went over 40w until; today - just to try it - because folks speak of sometimes HIGH watts will reduce spiting and produce flavor.. Well, ok: it reduced spitting.

This remains subjective. You get a range of answers and all it does is suggest "try it yourself".

I agree. You have to do it like the rest of us did. I can not tell you what you want. You have to learn from one install after another. When I first started vaping again I stopped using subtanks. I would not have quite smoking cigarettes if I only used subtanks. But many a folks do quite well using sub Ohm tanks.

Start out with multicored wire as suggested. If your using a regulated mod it's much easier to get that perfect vape. Though I do recommend atleast trying unregulated ( noisy cricket 2) because the minute you understand fully ohms law, battery safety, factors that make tank/rda/rta/rsa a good vape, the clouds open up and it feels like almost a spiritual experience. Okay maybe that's over kill, but the smaller thing can make or break a coil build.

Even with regulated mods you can add or subtract a wrap and allot of times that, AF, coil diameter, and the wattage used matters more than the actual coil used.

Coil diameter ( I think all around 2.5mm works best and is pretty much what I use all the time.

AF, coil positioning, wrap count.. it can seem like allot, but like I said, you'll get into a groove and automatically be able to tell what you want.

I got my coils from AVS today, they were packed in a tan colored cotton.

Is that the Kendo cotton everyone talks about?

How do you get the thing to quit leaking through the air holes?

Mine doesn’t. It leaks thru the 510 connector and just makes condensation on my mod. Does it actually leak or is it just wet when you got to close it?

I’m sure someone else can chime in but I haven’t had any leaking problems. If i use too much cotton, it’ll suffocate it, and I won’t get flavor. You can always use less cotton in it.

Now the Kylin Mini, you can’t use too much or too little. The Kylin is a dream compared to the KM to wick.

I found an answer on another thread, regarding putting a runner seal around the 510 connector. If it still leaks tomorrow, I'll be looking at having to replace the atty.

Yes. I believe they’ll send you a new deck. I just got used to taking it off and wiping it down.
