I generally am able to build up sufficient tolerance to the summer heat (100+ July/August), so I'll save that statement for the arrival of the next blizzard and pretend nothing will get worse until November or December, so I have half a year before I gotta worry about it. :) Onward and upward...

I didn't even think about whether or not the tiller will start, so I'll leave that worry for a few more days. I think tomorrow Lannie plans for me to locate the plexiglass stash and make a new floor for the House Chicken's cage. That ought to keep me busy for several hours. Now where did I leave the special blades for the jig saw to cut plastic? .......
Cut really slow....

Or use a plexi knife and straight edge. Just score and break straight cuts.
About 4 scores and it breaks nicely.

Don't know if that will work because this is special stuff 1/4-3/8" thick black plastic stuff in a 4x8' sheet, one side of which has all kinds of painted company BS (leftover from convention center displays from my last company). I know I have some special blades (somewhere) for cutting this stuff. But if I don't find them, I'll try the scoring and see if I can snap it like a glass window pane.

That is thick Lexan then and you will need to saw it.

Have some of that.
My late FIL was in the sign business.

Yeah, seen it.
Just a personal thing but not interested in a poke yer finner in the hole squonker.
Yeah, I really don't like those either....which is why I never used one for more than about an hour....but have a few stockpiled JUST in case.

How thick is this stuff?....3/8th?....1/4?
At least 1/4 but I seem to remember more like 3/8
I've read a few posts in the past at the other place, years ago. I know Lannie has some delicious (sounding) recipes. But I'm sure they taste as good as they read.....
She is a real experimenter too. She has a cupboard full of stuff she's made and I doubt there is even one (of hundreds) in there she doesn't like. She does have some that are either too high in nic (when she moved to higher Watts, she dropped her nic to 1 or 1.5mg/mL) and some with more VG than she likes now, so I end up taking those down to the dungeon and tootle puff them.

Can't you just put a circular saw blade in backwards and have at it?
My circular saws are 8" blades and the table saws are 10". I have one blade meant to saw concrete paneling, but that would just melt this lexan (or whatever it is). Oh wait, I just remembered that I won a fancy Dremel tool over a year ago that I have never even taken out of the case yet... some special toy that has tiny little 2" circular blades. Maybe I'll try that on a test piece...

If I owned a smart phone and one of those stupid selfie sticks, I'd make a movie for ya, but I guess I'll just have to post a textual report tomorrow night. o_O

And the really dumb part of this is that this crap is slick enough, I don't even know if the stupid chicken can stand upright on it as the new floor to her cage.

What about using an angle grinder with a metal cutting blade? I don't know the properties of lexan, but I can cut through damn near everything.
I have a couple of those, and they are great for cutting sheet metal and stuff like that, but they'd just melt the Lexan... way too hot.

Will not swear to this but as I recall the FIL cut thick lexan on his table saw with the blade backwards...

I don't mean the slotted metal blades, but the fiber ones made for cutting through steel. I've cut through 3/8 inch thick ibeam with it.
Would just get hot and the melted lexam would stick to them I would think.
Like cutting it with a jig saw at high speed. Blade gets hot and melt welds to the Lexan and bad things happen fast.

I just got a new 14 inch abrasive chop saw yesterday.

Oh well. I guess there is always the bow saw with a fine toothed blade.

Yeah, I have those blades too. I cut some stuff off the riding mower that I figured stuck out too far and wasn't necessary anyway, and when I was done with that, I whacked off about 6" of that hard plasticy/rubbery grass deflector at the side of the deck. More unnecessary crap that is just there to stop stupid people from putting their hand/foot into the deck, but it restricts me being able to get between two close trees... anyway, it cut that stuff off fine, but left a small melted rolled ridge, which I do not want in the chicken cage because I need perfectly smooth edges in order to stand vertical pieces along the edges to prevent flying chicken shit from coming out of the wire cage onto the carpet.

Yeah, I know GFI plugs are for those idiots who use electric hair dryers at the same time they are running water in the bathroom sink. They were only invented to save stupid people from themselves. I am happy with plugs that don't even have the third hole (ground prong) because in most of my old tools, the common is essentially ground anyway (unless you have ground off the plug and inserted it backward). But then, remember me, the guy who uses 18650s with the wrapping torn... Back in 1975, a big blue arc flashed across from a 12,400-volt wire in a saw mill to my back while I was standing on a wet ladder and I woke up on the floor, lying in a pile of wet sawdust. A little short ain't gonna hurt me.

Evenin fellow Pharts.

Busy day today.
Mounted 2 tires on rims and put on utility trailer. Still holding air so far....
Hauled off 2 loads of charred timbers and such.
Did 2 loads of laundry.
Painted the gate and such I put up several days ago to get it sealed before the rain hits.
Finished up on a couple of saw horses I built.
Put a blade on the abrasive chop saw I got and a wire brush wheel on the bench grinder.
Did dishes and several other odds and ends.

Sounds like a busy day! I would be exhausted. I did garden prep. Ripped out a old fence and need to put up a new one. I hope to start Sat if it doesn't snow or rain.

I intended to go and see if my tiller started up but did not get around to it.

Now that I have my utility trailer rolling again I can go and buy a new riding mower.
Need to do that before my non lawn areas get out of hand.

I'm just grateful I have a self propelled lawn mower. Its a Toro personal pace. It's a piece of crap in a way. Hubs has to take it apart every year because it does not start. It started acting crapping at year 2. It doesn't have a prime button and has a fuel filter. If memory is accurate hubs has to unclog the fuel filter.

Hit pothole backing out of driveway. Went to town, picked up supplies, including 5 sacks of rock. Got home, filled pothole, repaired 2 Sledge hammers. Painted lattice. Made dinner. Did some landscaping. Started relaxing around 7 pm.
You must be strong. I can barely lift 60 lbs of water softener bags. I usually will ask for help now and have someone unload them at home.
