Evening Dale.

Let's see, start by taking out the garbage, then wire-brush some attachments to the antique KitchenAide, then move a shitload of compost to various mineral tubs in the garden, then sand that chicken cage floor/walls thingie, then sweep the shop, then ... (more boring crap). We did manage a thunderless thunderstorm with heavy showers and nasty downdraft winds, which put a stop to the garden work. Uh, so the easiest answer would have been, "Oh, pretty normal."
Well you did considerably more than I. Sat in front of the computer most of the day finishing reports of the buildings we inspected this week......:wait:

Trying to write on the computer is not only time-consuming, but requires a great deal of "mental work" -- gotta get the words just perfect in order that you appear professional and your client sees you as "money well spent."

"The race horse defeated the odds with the win at Churchill Downs, breaking a 136-year-old record by winning the competition without racing as a 2-year-old first. No horse since Apollo in 1882 had won the Derby without racing as a juvenile".

@Lannie A friend of my husband's used to have a flock of guineas on his property. They would gather at the edge of the road, then when you, driving in your car, would get just about to them, the entire flock would run out into the road. They were kamikaze guineas. Repeatedly they'd scare me half to death. I'd have already slowed down, because I learned a little something from the last time they did this mess, but then, well, they wouldn't run out. So then I'd speed back up, and THEN they'd run out. :gaah:

They're either stupid as a rock or just plain suicidal. At any rate, I'd love to not be bothered by ticks. And stinkbugs. Do you think they'd eat stinkbugs?

I think it's "stupid as a rock," although some people swear it's "suicidal." I guess it's a toss-up. When they're bedding down for the night (ours sleep in the rafters of the horse barn), they make a terrible racket, which you would think should attract predators from MILES around, and what a STUPID thing to do, right? However, I think I might know the reason for this. When we have hens sitting on nests, they're always quiet, sitting in their clump of shrubbery or tall grass, trying to be invisible, and the other guineas get up on their roosts and start racketing. So I'm thinking maybe it's supposed to distract the predators away from the vulnerable hens on the ground. I dunno, maybe I give them too much credit. They're very good parents, as long as their babies can keep up with them. When it rains, the moms and dads both with stop and spread their wings out so the babies can get underneath and stay dry. And the dads do take an active role in raising the keets, believe it or not. Back before we got the dogs, we were down to three guinea hens, all of whom were sitting on one big pile of eggs, and two old roosters. One by one, the hens got picked off by the foxes. The last hen managed to hatch out about a dozen eggs, but the fox got her when the keets were only a day or two old. (They won't run or fight when they're sitting on eggs or babies.) So we had all these little keets running around screaming, which was heart-wrenching to hear, but we couldn't catch them - they were scattered all over the place. I resigned myself to the fact that they would die of exposure that night, but when I got up the next morning and went outside, I found the older rooster with seven surviving keets, and he raised them to adulthood. He's gone now, died of old age, but we still have those babies, which are now getting old themselves.

I have no idea if they'd eat a stinkbug, though, because we don't have stinkbugs here. They're supposed to kill and eat snakes, but ours don't. Rich kills the snake, the guineas gather around the dead snake in a circle and discuss it at length. But I've never seen a guinea attack a snake, even a small one. Ours are very good at discussing snakes, not so good at dispatching them.

Anyway, they're hell on ticks, and we'd be overrun without the guineas, but they're not for civilization. If you have neighbors within a few miles, you probably won't want them. Even if they didn't wander off to the neighbors' houses (which they are prone to do) and crap all over their porches, the neighbors would probably kill you because of the noise. Guineas are either a love-em or hate-em kind of critter. I love-em, but most people hate-em. ;)

And that's today's guinea lesson. :p

So when you and hubby get to Ha'wai'i, are you going to live in the country so you have sufficient property to have critters?

Just chickens and a fish pond, and of course our existing trio of pusskins- don't really want the responsibility of other animals at this point in our lives - even dogs

A fish pond? Skeeter attractor... Already have this property picked out, or still in the speculation stage? I have only been on Oahu, but other than landing/taking off, I stayed away from Hono ru ru. Spent my week on the north side of the island. Which island are you guys aiming for?

The right fish eat skeeter larvae and will keep it clear - this is my area expertise - will have to figure out how to deal with the frog issues, but it is manageable

Yep, we are heading to the Big Island, as it is affordable

I’m a city guy in Honolulu but if you have any question please feel free to ask me. I’m sure you and the hubs will be fine. Everyone is usually very friendly and polite. But don’t keep your guards down.. crime still does happen here..

Thanks and good to know :)

We have been planning this for a few years now - we have a lot of old and very trusted friends who live there

Our little town here has a sizable Hawaiian population, believe it or not, lol

The potential for crime - particularly property crimes - will be our biggest challenge I think. We don't lock our doors here and leave keys in the car without locking them

That's the way I grew up (north Soggy Valley, Orygun) - never locked the house or the car. Now in South Dakota, still don't lock the truck, unless I am in the city, and the house (out here in the boonies) is unlocked unless both of us will be gone all day, which is very rare. No worries about sleeping with doors unlocked because all the animals will either wake us up and/or eat the bad guys.

Well, break time is over. Gotta get to work. See ya later.

I have friends there and they leave the door unlocked when they are home..

Pretty much. Screeching tires, racing engines and then there was the guy who ran his tractor on my yard....
And just run off and leave their brats to aggravate everyone else.

I hope they don't fight. Twice in my adult life I've had neighbors who fought to the point that I could hear them. That was miserable. Several times I was tempted to call the cops, but then I'd hear them up there, ahem, "making up." I'm sure y'all can guess what I mean by that.

Just stopping by briefly to say hello, and I'm on my way to sleep. Hope you're all well and sassy.

Take care! Good night!

Wicked a Wasp Nano today. I'm not to crazy about these attys....really easy to over squonk these lil guys. Trying to train myself from narda to le supersonics to wasp, seems almost impossible, old age I guess. Believe I'll be giving the wasps away if anyone wants them.

They are not good for dripping although you can do it.
I have 10 of them so I am good :)

These supersonics spoiled me, they squonk like the nardas, and the flavor is just as good. Not so much with the wasps. I tried 2-3mm coils 26-24ga....at 35-45 ohms....not good....:(

I do a 10/9 wrap 26 ga SS316l 3mm parallel .34
Also use the same coil in my Merlin RTA's.
Legs on top and raise up till bottom of coil is even with bottom of air flow passages.

I don't know if Lannie drips, but I think she is not a squonker (whatever that is). I am a dyed-in-the-wool tootle puffer.

Narda is a bit too tight on air for me.
Like the O atty better for that style of atty.

I used SS, had the bottom of the coils above the airflow....just not my cup-o-tea. They seemed flavorless compared to the nardas and supersonics.

I'm a tootle puffer to, need a tight draw (this year)....last year I was into the modfather attys, 30 mm....now they're all put away, back to tight draw with lots-o-flavor.

Hmm not sure what is going on there.
Why we have so many different attys I suppose so every one can find what suits them.

Well that and more profit for the atty makers ;)

That's for sure, I have enough of every type of atty to never buy another in this or possibly next lifetime....:vino:

Ahh maybe it is a MTL vs DL thing?
I am a DTL only.
May change from the dark side someday though.
Was never into the clouds bro clouds and big attys though.
Prefer a slightly to moderately restricted DL.
I DL Subtank Mini's with RDA. Long slow draw.

Hmmmm... most of my tanks are Kanger Protank II, with a couple Nautilus. I have some tanks with user-changeable coils, but I don't use them (like eGo One Mega and something from Switzerland...SQ?). All of my atomizers are tiny factory-made doohickies from 1-2 Ohms, so obviously I am in the 5W-15W area.
