Got my first vape today! Can someone answer my questions?

Hi! I'm brand new to vaping. I just got my smok majesty 225w vape mod in today! I finally got it up and running and set the wattage to 60, as the coil recommends somewhere between 55-65.

I was having a major issue at first, I think i filled my tank too full and was inhaling mouth fulls of ejuice. I read online that I should blow into it to hopefully blow out any juice that was in the "clearomizer"? (I dont know my terms yet, so if I'm using the wrong one, feel free to correct me). It seems to have worked alright. I still feel like im getting small little pops or splatters of liquid, but it might just be that im not used to such a strong taste and a little bit of PTSD after getting so much in my mouth earlier. It's making a sort of gurgled noise when I press the firing mechanism, I dont know if that's normal or not, but the gurgle is a lot less pronounced after I blew into it while firing.

My biggest problem now is that the vapor is very hot. I cant take in full lungfulls because I feel like its burning inside my chest. Will lowering the watts help to make it cooler? I dont know enough about the temp control settings to mess with that yet (but if someone wants to enlighten me or point me to a good resource I might try it out).

Or will I just get used to the temp? I've been a cigarette smoker for the past 5 years, so this whole direct lung thing is new to me, maybe I just need some time to get used to this new technique?

Any helpful information or tips is greatly appreciated! I'm very excited to get into this and enjoy my vaping experience, so I dont want to give up because of some rookie mistakes.

Welcome to VU. Put it in wattage mode, turn down the power and close the airflow a little until it feels good. There are no hard fast rules, play with the controls until it just feels right.

Thank you for responding! I totally forgot about the air flow control! Thanks for the tip!

Hello and congratulations. One other thing to remember is those watts on the coil are only recommendations. You can run them below those if you find you need to. It has been a long time since I used a Smok tank but the recommendations were a bit over rated I found. As mentioned play around and you will find what you like.

Thanks! I lowered it a bit and it's easier on my lungs but still hot in my mouth. Next time I vape tonight I'll probably lower it a bit more. Hopefully all of this will get easier as I go.

vaping high watts is a realtively newish fad in vaping...when vaping began it was for the most part hard core smokers who'd smoked for decades and were trying to quit smoking...they would vape in a range of 8 to 12 watts this mimicked the experince of smoking a cigarette...cloud chasing or high watt vaping is a fad that took over vaping and is now in the process of losing it's shine and being revaluated. so don't feel you shouldn't explore much lower wattage to find a vape that appeals to you

Thanks! I think that is one of the problems I'm having when trying to learn from YouTube videos and other media. Many arent geared towards new users who are just trying to quit cigs.

Does anyone have any tips on how much juice to fill the tank with? I want to avoid sucking in hot juice in the future

Assuming you bought the kit it looks like it came with a x baby tank. You just need to fill thru the filling holes. You don't want to fill it so it comes out of the fill hole and goes down the chimney. If it isn't your tank the principle is the same.

After you fill the tank, close the airflow all the way and take a couple of very small pulls to get it all sealed off and happy. Then open up the airflow and have fun.

One more thing, when changing your coils be sure to prime them with some Juice before installing.

That's good to know! I think I had the air flow completely open for the first 30 minutes of me trying it

Oh no..last I checked vaping was a 4 billion dollar industry...even on this forum and others like them quitting smoking is not much of an issue...this and forums like them are geared toward what are called hobbyist vapers....that is not to say you can't find lots of great information here...there are thousands of people who quit here through vaping and can they are more than happy to help you anyway they can all you have to do is ask..post any question you have start a thread with your questions and people will beat your door down to give you a hand.

Good no ya mate from one noob to another. I'm going through the same shit as a newly quit 30+ year smoker so I feel your anxiety & everything your going through.
I can't actually help with your original question except for sometimes when I have a flooded tank I roll a tissue into a long skinny point and stick it inside the exhaust pipe(no idea what the real name of it is) but that soaks up excess liquid and sometimes stops the spattering of liquid in the mouth..
The only thing I can really offer you in the way of help is...and I learned this the hard way...Get a back up.
I had only the 1 tank and in such a hurry to clean it and refill before reaching for a ciggie I bloody dropped & smashed it & had nothing else worth using so it cost me money, time and stress to get hold of an emergency tank locally just to stay off the cigs.
I saw this written a lot in various posts and dismissed it to my peril.
Now I have backup everything. 4 tanks, backup glass for every tank, 3 mods, shitloads of coils for each tank...backups for the backups of the backups.
Hope this helps mate to avoid a silly mistake the same as I made.

Yes it was high, you’re doing really well and will find a good setting. Watch some YouTube videos and be patient. Enjoy and congrats!
