You're right, I'm very frustrated, but I won't give up quite yet, at least not until I run out of wire. The encouragement is very much appreciated.

I did just manage to get 2 coils made. The problem is I;m not sure what I've done different. These ugly things are N80 3x24/38g wrap at 3.5mm. They are beefy and will probably take an hour to ramp up.

Very nice. Mine are an ok vape. Really need to get the cores down to at least 26g.

This beefy bastard gets warm and is draining a battery.
Go 2 core...they are wrapped nice and tight..look nice
Try a lower gauge core...i usually play with 28x3ni80/36ss316

Another success. Now I have to figure out what I’m doing wrong using 28g cores. This is 26x3 ni80/38.

It's enough to want to quit vaping.

I have one that I don't use once I found wound wire sold by the foot. I get it from Advanced Vape Supply and it's great. I much prefer to cut a length of wire and wrap a couple of coils and be done with it. You can get varying core and gauge sizes to meet all your vaping needs. Like you, I find some things in vaping to be frustrating, so I try to remove them.

Absolutely. I've been vaping AVS coils and spooled clapton wire for quite a while, and it's damn good stuff. No complaints, but for me, there is an intangible satisfaction of vaping a coil that you've built yourself that I don't get from one made by someone else.

I had to learn to do the fused claptons on the deadus. The problem I was having was the wire breaking and bunching on start up. I finally realized that its not only tension that cause this. To get the jig started tension is only part of the key the other part is you must pull the jig away from drill allowing the wire to start in a twist before letting go of it. Just like a coil the wraps lie next to each other so must your wrap wire. I knew I was missing something simple. I finally compelted a 18 inch length of wire without breaking the wire giving me 4 coils per this length. Setup is key also the neater the better. Now its time to move on to multi cores three or more.

For got to add. Count the number of threads showing on top of the nut including the top of stud. This will help on tracking tension. Mine worked at 4 threads yours may differ. This way if you run out of wire and put on new spool on, you'll at least have a starting point.

Man this thread confirms my opinion on this thing, way too much of a pain in the ass. With all the hassle seriously just get
Quality Ball Bearing fishing spinners and a
Decent high speed variable speed drill.

After a few times you'll find the right combination to spin wire without the limitations of the Daedilous.

Are you secure your wire like kzor showed in video?

No I have not, but I will try it as when I can get some ribbon wire and more 28g. I've had success with 24g 2 and 3 core but those are beefy coils, 26g 3 & 4 core. No success with 28g. All 36, 38, and 40g wraps.

Ya know I'm about to try that again, but I have to buy another drill. Also, when I did try it preeviously I was wasting even more wire because I just couldn't get "the touch" I certainly couldn't do it while holding the claptoning wore spool like it shows everyone doing in videos.

It's all about the right tension and angle. You're going to screw up a bunch of wire but when it clicks it clicks. Remember that you can always back up which you cannot do with the Daedalus. Also what helps me a lot is a headloop with built in light. That's why I can spin 34x2/44 fused Claptons.

I have trying to get my rhythm with tool building to doing staggers. So far i have built fused claptons in 24,26,28 and two 26x4 now thats a beefy coil. But was fun building. I am starting to have some fun this toy. Cant wait to get some ribbon and ss.
