I have to clear out a corner so I can put a door there.
Has a 8ft wide double swinging door right now. Homeade and bad, have not used it in years but now I need to block it up with concrete blocks and put a 36 inch door in the hole.
That does sound like a project.

Been storming and such since about mid afternoon here. area is under flash flood advisory until about Monday I think...
Warnings out in other areas though.

I have just been 'excavating' in my basement.
And laundry, dishes, etc...

Yep got trowells and concrete mixer a while back.
Need to get a pallet of 8 inch blocks and some mortar mix. Have a good used steel framed exterior door for the job.
Prolly need a stick of rebar too to join in with the existing wall.
Yep, hard to beat a good prehung commercial grade door.

I still have mato's squash and peppers from spring then planted Kale chard spinach and beets for a fall crop
My sweet red peppers kinda went dormant during the heat of the summer, now they're just coming back to life. Noticed a few days ago their loaded with lil peppers. the damn plants must be 20-24 inches tall, and just started blossoming a few weeks ago, never seen anything like it in the past....guess I bought some odd pepper plants.

It's been a strange year, things growing weird, you use Epsom Salt on your peppers and maters don't you? My peppers always get 30 to 36 inches tall but I always several farmers matches on the hole when I plant them, makes a huge difference.

Just popped in to see what was happening here tonight. It is great to see such activity once again.

I can't stay long because today was very long, tiring, hard, stressful, frustrating... Lannie came in from the barn this morning and told me Cricket was sick (the cow who gave birth yesterday). Looked like Ketosis, but she was wobbly (like she was about to fall down) and one of Lannie's cow friends told her that was Milk Fever. I drove over to a neighboring rancher's place and borrowed some medicine (liquid minerals) and Lannie and I tried to do an IV (sub-cutaneous, not in the vein), which didn't go too well. I drove to Faith Vet to get more medicine and came back to assist Lannie. The neighbor showed up with some hay for us, so while he helped Lannie with Cricket, I cleaned up the hay room and laid down some new pallets, then we moved several tons of small bale hay in there (his kids are still hay monkeys and stacked it right up to the rafters). We had a short rest, then Lannie milked Cricket as best as she could given that she was in no mood to stand still after being punctured with needles a few dozen times. We never even managed to get any breakfast all day, but finally came to the conclusion we had done all we were capable of and will see how it worked out in the morning. Phew...

I hope the cow is all right too, given that she is our primary milk provider. :D I am so tired and have a hundred new pains I didn't even know I could have that it is all I can do to sit up in this chair, so I think I should probably go to bed (after I lather Ouchie Fixit Stuff all over my body).

Usually only 1 tablespoon per plant and if you can get some egg shells crush them and soak about 8 or 10 in a couple gallons of water over night and use it on them too for a booster ( also ends any chance of blossom end rot)

New heard of using epsom salt for veggies.....learn something everyday.

Pure magnesium - a standard in most fertilizers - it will raise PH, so great if you have acidic soil or it just needs a boost. And of course, most veggies need at least some

Hi Juice, I been using an organic fertilizer with mag and other goodies, never heard of anyone using epsom salt in the garden tho.

Until Jimi, neither have I. Unless the "salt" in epsom salt is radically different than table salts or canning salts, it will actually kill most "fresh water" plants. Whenever Lannie does a kitchen project that ends up having an excess of salt water, I alwasy take it outside and pour it on the driveway. It always kills the weeds in that spot of the driveway. I also note that, when I lived in Tucson and had one of those water cleaners/filters that used salt, a spill of that stuff prevented anything from growing in that spot for the remainder of the time I lived there. Just an FYI. But I do not know the chemical composition of the "salt" in epsom salt and Jimi says it works for him, so take it for what it is worth. But DO put magnesium on the plants if you have acidic soil, and maybe there is more mag in epsom salt than there is salt and that is why it works for Jimi. Who knows.......

Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulfate, a combination of magnesium and sulfur, two nutrients that plants need and thrive on. I don't for the life of know why they call it "salt' but I have used it on my plants for, um, 50 some years with excellent results and it's a natural substance. It's a double bonus for peppers as they are sulfur lovers anyway. A little Epsom Salt and crushed egg shells does wonders for pretty much all garden plants. TRY IT, you WONT be sorry:).

Hi Robert, yeah that might be a good idea unless you are constipated:giggle: cause it's a laxitive too also a detox
I've never looked into what epsom salt actually was until today....but I knew it is a good idea to bathe in water with high magnesium and sulfur content.....
