But why, what's the point of making something that's simple, so needlessly complex and demanding and un-economical? Plain ol single wire coils work just fine. Why would anyone want to have to use more battery, more ejuice, more time making coils? It just doesn't make a bit of sense. And don't forget, any gunk problem you have with a given ejuice, you've now just magnified 10-fold, so that now, you won't be able to just do a simple dry-burn/re-wick, you'll have to mount a brand new coil every single time you get a gunk problem. For me that would be twice a week! And new coils take a while to break-in and get good flavor from, so just about the time you've got it really broken in, you'll have to replace it again, because of gunk.
I found out the flavor really is a good deal better, even when factoring in rayon's ultra-fast wicking. I previously thought the same as you.. And especially since I was in an uncertain 8 year disability case, I also needed to make my wire last for an indeterminate lengthy time - so I put it down to a fad/coil-art/build-enjoyment territory considering my use of rayon. But now finally after winning the disability case, I could afford to find out. But due to the same disability reasons, always making them myself by hand would be problematic. So that's where the Daedalus comes in, since it does the building for you. And after trying a few in some attys now, I can certainly say that the flavor level rose dramatically with fused claptons (honestly, I think fused is the only way that makes sense, really - plus it holds on to the wire better, to boot!).
I don't know why you think dry-burning can't be done with a clapton.. Just dry-burn, rinse, repeat a couple times then rewick - same as straight or twisteds. I also only ever make my own juice - and I never buy many piddly 10ml flavoring bottles either.. Its either 1, 4, or 16 (mostly 4) ounce bottles to be far more economical even when factoring in the amber glass Boston Round bottles with phenolic polycone caps that I transfer to. And I got about 8 gallons of pg/vg stockpiled - I get those 4-gallon "glycubes" from Essential Depot.
But believe me, I was really surprised how much more the flavor jumped up.. Could have knocked
me over with a feather.
I was
not expecting that -- at all. (EDIT: I had also tried a clapton a while ago that came with an atty, and I didn't think anything special of it. But it was probably a standard single-core clapton. With fused, there is literally two (or can be more) juice channels in there - which probably accounts for the flavor boost when it comes to rayon.)
As far as the power is concerned though, I won't always be using the super-thick results of my fused claptoning with 2 halves of my multi-twisted wires. So it won't always be so bad. I also used 40g with those to help keep the mass down.
I also think anything beyond fused claptons really
is strictly coil-art/build-enjoyment territory.. And mostly too much of a PITA to be worth it to me, unless I might get bored or something, someday.
So yeah.. I got a fuckton of wire, a fuckton of flavorings, a fuckton of vg/pg, rayon (3lbs), and even batteries.. So I'm set for a while.
