Are copper drip tips and top caps safe?

Hi
I was reading about copper being safe in our RDA's...and I'm somewhat puzzled......
Seems some people think that copper has a certain amount of lead content that can be inhaled from our top caps and drip tips over time as heat and juice affect the copper .....some say they even get a taste, and their hands smell like pennies just from holding a copper mod.. Personally I have two copper mods and my hands never smell like pennies but I was wondering if my copper RDA's are truly safe..
Anybody got any thoughts on this?

Goes for brass too, but I guess you could throw the entire lot in question as well, such as juices, wires, wicking materials, temperatures, etc...

Besides quitting vaping altogether, I guess the next best thing to be "safe" to your specific standards is to just remove whatever variable you have in question out of the picture until you know for sure.

It can be difficult to do though, for every "fact" about the safety of one thing, you can easily find something that contradicts the former.

For example, some claim that stainless steel clones from China labeled as 304 grade or higher have lead/zinc content in them, while others will swear the materials used as in fact as good, if not equal to the original counterpart.

I think some people worry to much....almost all hot beverage machines across the world have been made with copper lines for the last 60 years. Most of the drinking water pipes in over half the country have been copper for the same amount of time. I sold copper pipe for almost 2 decades, and can say this, its safe to use. If your heating up your copper cap or drip tip to a crazy temp, you have more issues than the possible inhalation to worry about...imho. It is safe to use and a lot safer than smoking cigarettes...Vape it like its hot and as always, Keep it Foggy.

I think you worry too much. Copper is safe and I don't know why they say it makes your hands smell like pennies. maybe clean pennies. lol. Most of the drip tips are coppper now, or if you still worry, try brass one maybe. ha

Well Victoria, your right, I shouldn't worry about it...but none of my drip tips are copper..They are either delrin, ceramic, pyrex glass or stainless..I really like my delrin drip tips because they insulate the high heat from some of my super low sub-ohm builds ever reaching my lips..thx for your reply

This goes further than just metals. The world health organisations studies of pg, vg, and various plastics don't stop at the vape industry, like a one stop shop as it were, in judging how these things are and how to advise regulators and the public.

If you want to discover how safe a metal or substance is and you find the evidence contradictory then perhaps one aught to look further than just the industry it's being used in.

Copper is used in water pipes and cookware, both of which are heated to temps above what these RDAs are being heated. Trace amounts of copper are also found in drinking water and your very own body. Unless you're vaping a 0.0000001 ohm build @ about 500 degrees, I wouldn't pay any attention to it.

You have my permission to bitchslap whoever is filling your head with this bunk. Just tell em some guy on the internet said it was okay.

I have a copper tobh. got it for my copper nemisis. it tastes like shit compared to the exact same setup in stainless with the same juice.
I don't know how 'bad' it is health wise but it is horrendous flavor wise.

Hey Sick how you doing my man!, I have a copper, SS and a copper plated Tobh, the copper and the ss taste the same to me, but the plated one has a slight taste difference in my opinion. It is possible this one is plated with a glue process which most likely explained the taste. I don't use the copper plated one anymore. Im going to sand it down to bare metal and ink the outside of it, see how it handles then.

Copper is Copper.

Has it's own atomic number (29) and everything.

Perfectly safe to use.

I don't use either the copper or stainless tobh/nemisis setup anymore.
They just gather dust on the mod rack.

As I look at my 'vape rag' thats next to me on my bed I see what's in my rotation:

1) Silver 120 watt raptor/hammond box with dark horse rda
2) Black 120 watt raptor/hammond box with mutation x v2
3) Vaporshark with Aspire Atlantis
4) ipv v2 with kanger subtank
5) 50 watt okr t-10 hex ohm with little boy rda
6) the trusty ol' chana dna30 with kanger aerotank mega w/ drilled out bottom air hole.

everything else = mod rack/dust collector
