I do not want to live in bare desert. If the pines around Prescott are gone, I'd go south of Flag, even if it has become totally lefty. If your 15-20 miles from Prescott, I don't think you can even see a Pine.

Nope, never even heard about the fire. But cedar is OK too. Just no bare desert or sagebrush and sparse juniper.Remember the fire a few years ago? Not much left of Ponderosas outside of town.
I was talking about areas southeast of Prescott, there are no pines, just cedar.
When those 19 firefighters were killed in the fire?Nope, never even heard about the fire. But cedar is OK too. Just no bare desert or sagebrush and sparse juniper.
When those 19 firefighters were killed in the fire?
Probably. Was that the one started by ICE?
Never heard about it. Don't watch that much news. When those 19 firefighters were killed in the fire?
Why would ICE start a fire, especially around Prescott? Was that the one started by ICE?

That's a different one.....![]()
At least no one diedYeah, that was south of Tucson, nowhere near Prescott, and an off-duty border patrol agent is not ICE.
Wow! At least it was started by lightning, not some idiot shooting at explosives.

Pardon my pickiness. Having worn the policeman's badge at one time, I am a bit sensitive about who is doing what and getting one mixed up with another.ICE is funner to say than boring old border patrol
@inspects Just for fun, try this search: "Cheap house Prescott AZ" First thing I came up with was 1 bedroom, 1 bath, only 850 sq.ft. on a very small city lot and, apparently "cheap" means $198,500. Who the hell are they trying to fuck?
Ha ha ha... fixer and distressed came up with $516,700 and $609,900 and a badly used double wide mobile for $299,900. Something tells me that I will not be moving there. I have here (my home) a 2BR, 2BA, 1200 sq.ft. house, detached 2+ car garage, 30'x48' shop, two barns 24'x36' each, chicken coop, and the 1910 homestead cabin on 10 acres, fenced and cross fenced, many of my tools will be included (e.g., 1984 Bobcat, riding mower, snow blower, etc.) and I would accept $100,000, but that wouldn't even make a good down payment on those "fixer uppers" in Prescott, which, I was told, was a very reasonable place. Pardon me, but Jesus Fucking H. Christ on a Hobby Horse....Cheap is not in the vocabulary of real estate - look for the words "fixer," "cozy" or "potential" lol
I obviously have not called him yet (no offers on this place), but how long ago was that and has there been a recent housing boom?My friend Mark paid 56K for 10 acres with a house and mobile home on the property
No housing boom in cowboy country. I think he bought the property about two yrs ago.I obviously have not called him yet (no offers on this place), but how long ago was that and has there been a recent housing boom?
Then there really is no good reason why all the prices I am finding are so outrageous. No housing boom in cowboy country. I think he bought the property about two yrs ago.
I have no idea what your looking at.Then there really is no good reason why all the prices I am finding are so outrageous.
You can just read back a few posts and see what I was searching for.I have no idea what your looking at.
I have no intention of living in or even too near the "big city." Hell, I really would not even want to live inside the city limits of Prescott. What I would like is to have the place I have right now (description is 7 or 8 posts up from here), but located in the sun belt instead of the snow zone.lots or small parcels sell for 300K in the greater Scottsdale-Phoenix area, you drive 30-40 miles north, the price is about 100K
SSDD but mostly cloudy and 26 degrees for a high. How was your day, Rich?

Feels like about 40 degrees outside at the moment, haven't looked at the forecast, but it feeling like frost weather in the air.SSDD but mostly cloudy and 26 degrees for a high.
Snow belts are not for me either. You can just read back a few posts and see what I was searching for.

I love Alaskan King Crab legs....Had king crab for dinner this evening
Yup, usually not until the end of January-first of Feb we get frost....coming earlier this year due to the global warming.Frost in Scottsdale on Decucumber the First? Shit! The end of the world is coming!
When the place one is prospecting is 1500-1800 miles from where he is currently located, he ain't finding none of those signs. When I look for real estate, I drive around looking for "For Sale By Owner" signs
There you go, it the nail on the head....and the word "Auction" is another good one....Cheap is not in the vocabulary of real estate - look for the words "fixer," "cozy" or "potential" lol
But those words are NOT turning up reasonable results.

Your not going to find anything on the interweb worth buying, you have to actually search in person, like I did in EC. Hell, the realtors were trying to sell me hectares for 25K...I bought almost 200 hectares for less than 150K. Have to do a lot of traveling, talk to local folks, fuck the realtors and the interweb. But those words are NOT turning up reasonable results.
And that produced $90,000 for 2 acres on a hillside with no buildings and an unfinished house for $649,000. Come on folks...
Take the word Prescott or Prescott Valley out of the search term.General search engine, then reading all available hits. Each of those words turns up several pages and all of them are, in my opinion, extremely over priced.
Nice find Juice....looks like some nice property.
Well, we found this place on the internet 15 years ago. And if I have to fly down to AZ to "search in person," it simply ain't gonna happen. I would spend way too much money in the search, leaving nothing to buy with. Remember, we don't have any extra money to play with.Your not going to find anything on the interweb worth buying, you have to actually search in person
When I used "near Prescott," some of the properties were 30-40 miles out of town and still priced too high.Take the word Prescott or Prescott Valley out of the search term.
I'll take a drive up there in the spring, my old buddy Mark wanted me to look at what it would take to bring water to the rear of this property, where there is an abandoned gold mine...he wanted to fuck around trying his luck sluicing some rock. When I used "near Prescott," some of the properties were 30-40 miles out of town and still priced too high.
