HOG V2 BATTERY AMPERAGE

Just got this thing and I have a question the AMPERAGE total. It's my understanding that in a P2S2 mod I get the double mAh of the parallel side. But do I also get the mAh from the series side as well. Using 4- 20amp cells, it's 40 amps from the P2, would I be correct that an additional 20 amps from the S2 could be added for the total mAh? I don't ever forsee my need of 60 amp draw but I would just like to know if this the case

Welcome to VU. HOG V2 is para series which is going to give you double the amperage and voltage. Just a heads up though, HOG is a monster. You should definitely know what you are doing with that thing before getting on it too much.

Yes. My first try was a simple dual Clapton which was at .345Ω. Have you ever been swimming and took a breath a little too quickly while coming up for air. Gasp So it’s more like a fire breathing dragon from my experience. I’m used to regulated mods, which give me a choice to hit at 8+v but I have never thought about it. Since this is the only parallel series mod I own, now I know 8.4 v is a monster vape. Thank you for the welcome and the info

That is not a beginner mech device dude. You should have skills before using that one. Not trying to scare you away from mechs or anything but its definitely a different animal than a standard single battery mechanical device. You need to already know how to really use mechanical devices to your favor before jumping on this one. That is a lot of power output.

Welcome to VU.
Less ignorant is not sufficient knowledge for a Hog. It would serve you well to bench it for now and ask what would be a good first mech to grow and learn with.

What specific batteries are you using?

mAh is a battery's capacity of charge - this is doubled in parallel configuration. So if your batteries are, say, 2600 mAh batteries, your total mAh in a HOG is 5200 mAh

Amp rating is how much power they can safely put out - this is also doubled in parallel

But in series, you double the voltage of the batteries as well, which doubles the amount of current a build will draw (compared to non-series)

If your batteries are rated at 20 amps, the parallel aspect doubles your "safe" total amps to 40. That's the end of how it affects total amps safely available to use

Now double the voltage when using an ohms law calculator, with your coil's resistance, to get how many amps your coil will pull.

Series does nothing for mAh or total amp rating of the batteries

Series doubles the Voltage of the batteries, and therefore doubles the Amps pulled by the resistance of the coil

Your HOG, if it isnt a dangerous shitty clone and if your batteries arent dangerous shitty rewraps, has 5200 mAh capacity (or whatever 2x your batteries actual mAh is) and a 40 amp continuous discharge rating

Can you demonstrate a build that you would use to put a saddle on this wild pony? He is trying to use a 2 strand clapton on some sort.

I ran dual 26 gauge Nichrome 80 parallels 4mm ID, 4.5 wraps at approximately .16 ohms. Hit like a freight train. I wasn't the builder I am now back then. I was just starting out building. Mind you that's almost 450 watts on the HOG with a 52.5 amp pull. I used Samsung 25R5 batteries x4. I ran the 30mm Buddha Z v2 on it as well.

the build i would recommend will depend on the atomizer you are using. i like the way the hog handles larger atomizers, so i usually dont even bother to use normal sized stuff on it. the larger atomizers usually perform much better with larger builds that are specific to them. ~.3 on plain claptons is prolly a bit hot, as plain claptons dont have a lot of mass per inch/wrap compared to more complex wire. fused claptons are a good starting point imo. if you are using a 24 or 25mm atomizer, try 2x28 ka1 fused claptons at about .4 ohms (in whatever shape/inner diameter/wraps fits your atomizer the best). if you are using a 30+mm atomizer, try to hit .3 ohms with 2x26ka1 fused claptons (in whatever shape/inner diameter/wraps is best for your atomizer). if they are too hot, add a wrap, or increase the inner diameter by .5mm increments to raise the resistance a bit (which reduces the wattage) and add some more mass (which takes energy to heat up)...if they are too cold, try to make them smaller to raise the wattage they draw and reduce the amount of energy they need to get hot.

i run 3x28ka1 aliens with 5.5 4mm wraps at .28 ohms in an aromamizer plus on my hog most of the time and its a nice vape.
