Hey all.

So I just got done steeping my bottle of sweet tart vape. To my dismay it's much more tart than sweet. I need to find some way to fix this, as the tart flavor is spot on but I cant stand it without more sweetness. Now I've found a few options on the interwebs, pointing mainly to Stevia or Ethyl Maltol. So why am I posting this then? Well I need something from walmart! (or big chain food stores/pharmacys) Never shopped for any of these sorts of food items and have no idea what brands would be ok to use and what not. Could really go for some first hand experience here!

You should probably really be using flavorings MENT for ejuice. Anything with real sugar is not good for coils.

You can use stevia. I've never had to sweeten anything, but people do use stevia, and you can find that anywhere.

Right, and I've seen that everywhere online, but I seem to come across posts saying like "The stevia made it taste like crap" or "It ruined my coils" followed by "It must have been because I used X brand or had X ingredients". Information overload on the subject as far as I'm concerned, which is why I thought I'd ask here :)

Sorry I missed the post from freemind when I replied:

Yeah I dont really want to resort to adding anything here, but I spent 15$ on this juice and as is, I want to throw it in the trash. So Im just at that point of either spending a few more dollars or having wasted 15 ya know? At least I know not to get the stuff again ;)

A sweetner for ejuice would only cost you a few bucks, and IF you like it a little sweeter, next time you order you would have some sweetner for it.

Do you have any suggestions as to what to get? I got this liquid at a physical store here in town, and I even asked them to sweeten it up some.

It kinda makes me wonder... The time between me telling him what I want and him handing me a bottle was ~25 seconds. Im not sure that they actually care about doing anything per request. I have this vision of him just going back and squirting a large bottle into a smaller one lol. So assuming I just want to have a bottle of this juice sweetener on hand what would I want to get?

I bought a bottle of TFA sweetener. No idea what it actually is, but a lot of people use it (as I said, I don't use it).

Google result for TFA sweetner. Found this "Ingredients: Artificial Flavor, Propylene Glycol, Water, Sucralose." So It seems if the industry uses Sucralose then I shall too! Thanks =D

Yes, sucralose is a good sweetner.

Sweet Tarts aren't actually sweet though. You may be fighting a losing battle trying to sweeten it. Might come out nothing like a Sweet Tart.

this is one of the few times I would recommend EM and a pinch of sweetener also just to cut and dull that sweet tart or if you dont like it that much dump it and move on lol. looks like you have it under control. happy mixing :)

Yeah, sadly I couldn't find anything at the store that didn't have some chemical or another that I couldn't pronounce in it, so I heavy downheartedly passed on the sweetener. I should be getting a bottle of blue raz in on monday. Guess I'll be having blue raspberry sweet tarts! Thanks again to all who helped =)

There's another option, maybe. You could buy some Glycerin, USP from a Rite Aid, CVS or Wal-Mart. It's in the first aid section. It's the same stuff used to make E-liquid. When I run out and need it in a pinch, it's what I use. You could at least cut it down a little and see if the flavor is more to your liking at a lesser strength. It sure wouldn't be a total loss. Split the bottle in half, add some VG to one of them and see if it does the trick. VG is naturally a little sweet itself.

Just a thought.

Should have added: This will obviously cut down the nic level, too, but it's worth a try with part of the bottle.

I actually did pick up a bottle of walmarts VG and did in fact add some to the bottle. I cant detect too much of a difference. Maybe a touch sweeter on the exhale but not what I was hoping for. Oh well. I put the VG to good use and made a coffee extract for my cinnamon roll juice. Vanilla almond coffee + cinnamon roll = So good!

Well that sounds highly interesting! Yum. Well, bummer the VG didn't help. Was worth a try.

Its quite alright, though truth be told its my absolute first time making anything of my own. I do worry a bit as I read some of the flavored coffee has other chemicals in it....but Im a retiring pack a day smoker....couldn't be THAT much worse right? The brew was done in haste and hasnt steeped yet...so Im hoping it will be more flavorful come morning =)

I've never done an extract. I hear some good, some bad experiences with coffees. Some people LOVE coffee extracts. But, as good as FA does espresso, I just don't feel the need, I guess. Almond coffee DOES sound really good with cinnamon roll, though. I have the flavorings for that, so might whip that up sometime just for the flavor explosion! Good idea NexDeus.

This was roughly 1 tbsp in 20 ml VG, heated in microwave for ~10 sec, super-shaken then topped with more VG, then simmered in the bottle on the stove for like 40 mins. Filtering it was a pain....no really, it was hot :p I feel like while the flavor is there it's not very strong. (Im a black coffee drinker, and if I can shine a flashlight through the pot and see the light on the other side its not strong enough for me!) Not sure if I need more grounds or maybe need to press the coffee in distilled water then mix with the VG? Time is on my side at least!

Or just get Flavor Art espresso - that'll knock your socks off:D

Heh yeah I know I could just go order something, but the beauty of it is in making something you enjoy with your own sweat and two hands. I enjoy hand making things. Just feels more.....gratifying? Besides at least with the coffee flavoring I THINK if i can master the making of it I could beat their price per volume...maybe? Or maybe I just have too much time on my hands and need an excuse :p

If you like it, go for it, man. Like I said, a lot of people do coffee extracts. I don't know that I'd use DW. Stick with the VG from what I've read.

Just an update. That coffee extract...a little less on the good side a day later lol. On the plus side though, after sitting overnight with the extra VG the sweet tart mix IS a little sweeter. Perhaps just enough. You win some you lose some right?

Wow, thanks for the update! Very cool of you. I'm glad your sweet tart worked out more to your liking though!

Sure thing! :) I hate investing time in a forum just to have it die without a word :p Yeah me too. It's not like I have a huge amount (about 20ml left) but a waste is a waste.

Regarding vaping agave syrup. If it is indeed safe/advisable/effective/recommended/adjective-of-your-choice to vape agave syrup, then it is equally safe/(etc.) to vape corn syrup, molasses, honey, treacle, and maple syrup.

Considering that we aren't even 100% certain that vaping in general is safe/advisable/effective/recommended/adjective-of-your-choice... :p

I discarded honey dilution because honey can be related to botulism spores. This is generally not an issue for an adult when ingested, but we don't know with inhalation.

"Sweetener" marketed for vaping use is sucralose, but sucralose marketed as Splenda also contains Dextrose and Maltodextrin.

Ethyl maltol is probably the most popular for vaping.

I don't consider EM and sweetener (sucralose) to be interchangeable. When I want to make something sweeter, I use sweetener. I use EM only to enhance sweetness already present, and very sparingly, since it has high potential to wipe out other flavors.

I wouldn't consider EM on it's own a sweetener and wouldn't use EM at high enough concentration to be actually sweet, because of it's additional side effects.
I find a 0.5% EM + 0.5% Stevia, a better option.
