Currently under consideration on capitol hill...

AR HB1519 This bill, if passed, will increase the minimum age for purchasing vapor products to 21.

AR HB1565 This bill, if passed, would increase the minimum age to 21, AND put a burdensome floor tax of 10 cents per ml on all e-liquids.

AR SB347 This bill, if passed, would impose a burdensome floor tax of an estimated 68% on ALL vapor products AND an additional 10 cents per ml.

This will lead to the closing of most vape shops in Arkansas. As it is currently illegal to ship any vapor related items to consumers in Arkansas, Arkansans will have very few options. Many will return to smoking.

Although the bill is real, I can’t find much info about what all it involves, but the statement quoted above is incorrect, as I live in central Arkansas and buy batteries, mods, diy flavors pg/vg/Nic, RDA’s and RDTA’s from various sites and have never had a problem with them being shipped to my home. Granted it doesn’t mean the article is completely false, it does make it seem a less than reliable statement due to it being incorrect in some of the “facts” it mentions.

You’re not drinking water are you? You realize that’s an ingredient in antifreeze!

lol.
I have no idea whether the information is accurate or not, but the guy who posted it on another forum that I was kicked off of, but can still view, has always been credible so I had no reason to doubt it.

Just because you can get it, doesn't mean it is legal.
WA state has sales taxes that apply to vapor products...if you buy vape stuff out of state and the shop doesn't apply them for whatever reason YOU are liable for those taxes.

Not to mention every year they try to get a 90% tax imposed on e-cigs here.
It's caused numerous big names to either close or move out of WA. ProVape, gone. Vape NW, moved. etc.

How do you get vape mail ?
I used to go to Lead Hill on Bull Shoals lake. There was a liquor store about a mile from the lake across the line in Mo if you took a boat ride up that way. Guy would keep a couple golf carts by a dock, you could tie up and make a beer run.
Guess I would have to maintain a box at mailboxes etc and make a vape mail run.

Edit. Boone county dry, now guess the whole state is vape dry....

It's coming to all of North America. Current tobacco tax yields in Canada are in the $5-billion range and falling. The governments in both countries will be looking for alternative revenues and it's only a matter of time before they dip their hands into the vape industry to squeeze out what they can.

I believe you're right, our government will watch closely what the U.S does and follow suit.

It's funny you mention the plastic bag tax, we already pay 5 cents per plastic bag in Ontario, Canada

I just watched that yesterday on TVW for the WA Senate Finance Committee. Discussing plastic vs paper taxes.
Still don't know if HB1873 with the 90% tax went through committee or not..argh.

Most all of the population and political power is on the West side, which is heavily pro-health and Democratic. King county pretty much controls WA state.

Also, nobody gives a shit about vaping. It's all about the 'other' which is making $$$ for the State.

Here's what is being debated in Arkansas:
Summary

To Impose A Privilege Tax On E-cigarettes; And To Designate The Revenues Derived From The Tax On E-cigarettes.

I thought the taxes derived were going to UAMS:

“To Impose A Privilege Tax On E-cigarettes; And To Designate The Revenues Derived From The Tax On E-cigarettes To Be Used By The University Of Arkansas For Medical Sciences.”

Here is our bill, in online readable format.

http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2019-20/Htm/Bills/House Bills/1873.htm

Sure, they say the monies would go to kids or something. But it'll go into the General Fund and disappear.

Pretty scary shit. They want to track all sales and have vendors keep records among other things. We're talking PII info here. So, they can find you if you DON'T pay the taxes.

Banks have records of every PP transaction they fund and to whom, ya know...I've even gotten small fees levied against "international" transactions like FT and etc.

yeah. it will disappear right into "their" pockets.

They had a public meeting, but I don't think anyone for vaping showed up. CASSA is pretty useless because nobody listens to a bleating sheep. It's all just flailing about and wringing of hands.
