I'm thinking about getting a mod with a YiHi chipset. I vape 100% in temp control and for me accuracy & stability in TC is paramount. I've had joytech based mods and they just don't cut it. I have several DNA mods and really like them a lot, but most retailers are sold out of nearly everything... so I'm taking a look at YiHi stuff. How are the YiHi based mods in TC? IIRC, there are several variants of the chip? And if anyone has recommendations for a non-squonk mod, I'm all ears. And if anyone has one they want to flip, DM me! (and if anyone has a Mirage 75C or Paranormal 250C they want to move, DM me as well!)

I love the yihi boards in power mode. In tc not so much. My preference for tc is the evolve board, especially now since we have replay. The yihi board just doesn’t feel as smooth in tc.

That's good to know. The Joytech chipsets had that modulating (don't know how else to describe it?) feel where it would constantly ramp up & down. I have a couple Slices that work really well in TC but they've seen better days, and a curious thing I've noticed with those, they do not react fast when using mesh coils. The DNA mods I have work great with mesh.
Dna or dicodes is probably the best for TC the electronics are supposedly superior build quality,

and especially the dna 60 board. (Only dna i don't have is 250c) dont need that much power now.
Not had much experience with Yihi
but im told they carry on draining cells if left in mod even after when mod cuts off, low voltage.
where as dna cuts off at low voltage and thats it until recharge,
Yihi carries on sipping the voltage down till cells are dead, seen many post that cells got to 2v and lower and wouldn't recharge,

The cell draining is a result of the heartbeat.
Honestly, it’s not noticeable on the newer gen boards. Albeit, if you leave the batteries in (and mod on), and not touch it for a week, you’ll see a dip. If it’s dead, you may have a board issue. But so long as you turn off the mod, you would be ok.
On older, like the sx350j, it would die in a day or so.

I found that setting the TCR a bit higher and starting low and working my up for the joules takes care of that actually.

You have to set it to manual TCR mode and if you're using SS set it to like 100 or 105 and work your up a little at a time if/as needed.
Set the joules to maybe 10 or 15 below what you'd use for the equivalent wattage for that resistance if you were in power mode and also work your way up if/as needed.
You have to press the joystick straight in and then quick press it to move through the modes. BUT, you have to press the fire button 5 times, go to "select coil" and choose manual tcr in the menus to put it into manual tcr.
Oh yeah. Quickly pressing the joystick to the right selects the preheat. If you have already selected either, one of the tc metals or sxi-q, then pressing the joystick straight in lets you set a joules curve for tc.

Maybe I'm not that sensitive to it but I haven't noticed any pulsing in tc with the yihi sx 420. It's not their flagship chip but I haven't heard of reviewers mentioning any noticeable variations in tc quality between yihi chips. Just other features like number of wallpapers and things (trivial). I suppose replay can be a nice feature on dna but not sure how useful it is. Maybe it is for some, I've never had that much issue setting tc. Lock the resistance, pick the wattage (or joules in yihi's case) and set the temp. Takes all of 5 seconds.
I got heavy pulsing in tc from the smok alien, a slight amount of pulsing in the istick tc100w, no real noticeable pulsing in the omni chip.

The lower end YIHI chips take some twiddling, but once dialed in get you consistent smooth tc. At least that's been my experience with the SX530.
I have quite a few mods now, (No DNA yet though) For whatever my still noobish observations may be worth:
Few chips do excellent outta the box tc, but some do.
Most chips (including Smoks) can be made to do perfectly usable tc with some twiddling.
Few chips are entirely incapable of perfectly usable tc, but some are. (Aegis Legend and the Pulse dual is pretty bad too)

DJLSB Vapes does instrument testing for tc and this pretty much goes along with what I see him saying in his reviews, though he probably has somewhat higher standards than I do.
If he says something I have is excellent for tc, it is. 2 minute setup and it does great tc.
If he says something I have is not so great for tc, that usually means I can play with the settings and get at least decent tc out of it. Sometimes he'll give suggestions for how to do that.
If he says something I have is utterly useless in tc, it is. Nothing I do makes any real difference. It's just all over the place and sucks at tc.
What's interesting to me at the moment is that for the first time, his tests say that Smok's new chip does actually excellent tc. Or at least way into the above average range, though his reviewers sample reads resistance a little high. I HAVE to try that out

I have to admit that the new Paranormal 250c does do next level TC. I do however get very good TC outta my VK530 too. I can't believe I couldn't hand that setup with my Lotus and the Ti build to anybody who likes a high-ish powered vape and they wouldn't consider it an excellent vape.He's a dna fan boy.

I have have to agree some what regarding the Yihi chipset well the 485j that's in the SL it is a real nice chip works well I like the joystick user interface but it's a battry hog and compared to the DNA the temp control is just better as mentioned before it's a smoother vape in temp mode. I wouldn't have bought another mod as the sx mini works great I just wanted a lighter mod to carry around and couldn't find a small mod with a good chip so picked up the Jac vapor dna 75He's a dna fan boy.

Or has no hands on with either the 485j or 550 chips. What I'm curious about is the new 650j chip in the sx mini x class squonk seems like they went with a lot going on touch screen and automatic squonk with internal pump!

I'm not doing automatic squonking and if that and a touchscreen are the only differences, it won't get my interest personally. I do still want a mini G-Class with the SX550j though. I got sniped twice the other night in ebay auctions.

Have you tried tried a G class their good but a heavy and large mod to carry around ! I'd personally get something with a dna 250c with replay over a G class. The bluetooth is kind of useless IMO. I purchased one before I got my SL class and returned it becouse of the large size and weight. But if that's what you want I get it. It is a real good mod. If you can get it cheap enough I wouldn't pay retail for one.

My vape inventory goal is to own a proper representation of specimens in all the areas I'm interested in. As much as is financially possible, which is already stretched pretty thin. They're kinda like research projects to me.
Unless somebody practically gives it away, I'll never own a Dicodes device for instance.
But I want a G Class for that reason. It's the pinnacle of Yihi's performance. In the last 6 months I've just missed a few really good deals on them. Still holding out.

You absolutely must adjust your jouls to burn preferences along with temp. When I got mine figured out I belive it became more finely tunable in tc then DNA. But!!! DNA is far easier to get it where u want it. Yihi I have to tune in every coil change ibdo...and that's frequently for me
