GENERAL SAFETY TIPS

Electronic Cigarette topics to consider: Concerns, Safety Concerns, compatibility issues, etc...

1) consider requesting childproof caps on E-liquid for households with small children

2) evaluate blow off caps/vent holes, On/Off functions on high power units prior to purchasing

3) using the correct battery charger is one item we stress to customers, many different chargers may fit, however some are wired with reverse polarity, and will damage batteries wired differently

4) as is frequently recommended "always use Protected Batteries in MODS"

5) frequent cleaning of drip tips, cartridges, etc... is recommended (please wash, and clean the drip tips throughly before first use to remove any packing, shipping dust or residue)

6) use extra caution with alcohol, or liquids containing alcohol as most are flammable in some way or under certain conditions (none of our e-liquids contain alcohol or alcohol based flavorings to the best of our knowledge)

7) atomizers and cartomizers can become hot to the touch during prolonged use, please limit the usage time, and use cones or other covers as additional protection

8) atomizers and cartomizers utilize "heating coils" to transform liquid into vapor, although they are limited in terms of temperature, please insure the cartomizer / atomizer is filled properly with e-liquid, and don't activate them when dry as they may heat up more than normal when empty

9) electronic cigarettes, and the accessories contain many small parts, keep and store out of the reach of children

10)

Feel free to add other things to stay safe with when using electronic cigarettes

Never plug in a battery to charge, and go to bed
Also, place battery while charging on a non-flammable surface (just in case)

In a hurry I left a cheap Ego on my dash. Had a GS 5 on it. Melted it, juice all over my dash & console. No harm done really. Might keep it in mind.

If you have a house with children, even if the juice has a child protective cap, place all ejuice and vaping materials up high and out of the reach of kids. Child proof caps are good, but even these can be defeated by a smart kid. You should have safeguards on safeguards. The last thing you need is a visit to the emergency room if your kid gets into it. Then a friendly visit from your local child protective authority after.

If in doubt 'Ask'.
I say that because sometimes you don't know exactly what to google for the answer

My wife and I are "Empty Nesters" (at last) I normally keep 2 rigs next to my chair in the den, one with a dripper, the other with a tank. I have a similar set up in my bedroom, but when the grandkids are here.. EVERYTHING is safely LOCKED in my office.
Great list of precautions, safety cant be overstressed. God Bless.

4) as is frequently recommended "always use Protected Batteries in MODS"

I agree with all your points vapingmandyca, except this one. You can get some protected IMR (LiMn) or hybrid batteries, but 99% of the protected batts out there are ICR (LiCo). ICR batteries have a protection circuit added because when they vent they burn and out-gas a lot. IMR batteries typically vent without flame and no significant out-gassing.

The way line 4 is writen means the recommend battery is a protected ICR over non-protected IMR or hybrids. I feel safer with the later. The only ICR battery I vape is a eGo and there is no way around that if you want that size batt. IMO line 4 is left over from the days when ICR was the only choice and shops were saying don't use a unprotected ICR, protection is required with these batteries.

My $0.02 :)

How come? It was my understanding that the charger stops any charging, once charging is complete.
Are you saying it will continue to charge it to the point of potential danger? thanks in advance.

No No ... the "charger" will not be the problem.
It's the battery that's plugged into it that can create the problem.
Batteries are chemically filled.
Sometimes they go bad, and if the end blows out it will cause a fire.
It will shoot sparks and flame.
That's why you place it on a fire proof surface, and don't leave the house for the day, or go to bed leaving it unattended, while charging.
Always charge your batteries when you can keep an eye on them, or at least will hear if there's a problem.
It doesn't happen often, but it has happened.

Most of the cases happen when people are charging the batteries with the computer using the pass-through.
The computer is not a certified "charger", and the computer WILL continue charging, NOT shutting off .. it doesn't know any better.
Sometimes, that alone will blow a good battery.

Buy a good charger, and the proper batteries, charge in a fireproof area, (bathrooms are good), and don't leave it unattended, do your charging while at home and awake ... just common sense regarding safely handling batteries.

Every Li-ion charger is designed to stop charging when the battery is fully charged, but they can fail and keep going. When that happens the battery will start heating up and when it gets hot enough it will go into thermal runaway and vent which can cause a fire and sometimes an explosion.

BTW, the same is true for cell phones, cordless phones, laptops, all rechargeable batteries.

Gotcha, thanks for the insight.

Yeah that was my understanding, but it only makes sense that not everything works perfectly. manufacturer defects are aplenty!

Safety tip - Don't carry loose mod batteries in your pockets with other metal objects like keys or coins or you could wind up with a very hot pocket. Put them in a battery case or some other container. I learned this lesson the hard way early in my vaping journey so thought I'd pass it on.

eCigs are a great alternative to traditional cigarettes. While there’s no denying that the vapor from eCigs is safer than traditional cigarettes, they do require proper maintenance and storage - but don’t let that scare you! Once you understand the basics, you should feel confident in your decision to switch to vaping. Safety tips for safe e-smoking-

Battery Safety

1 Always Use the Charger Specifically Designed for Your Battery
2 Never Leave a Charging Battery Unattended
3 Immediately Remove Your Battery From the Charger Once It’s Fully Charged
4 Keep Separate Batteries Away From Each Other and Protected From Metal
5 Make Sure Your Batteries Are Rated for the Coil of Your Atomizer
6 Keep Your Batteries Out of the Extreme Heat

E Juice Safety:-

1 Keep E Juice in a Cool Dark Place That Children and Pets Can’t Reach
2 If You Find Your Child or Pet Covered in E Juice or They're Near an Empty E juice Bottle - Call the Poison Control Center Right Away
3 If You Get E Juice on Your Body, Wash It off As Soon As Possible
4 If You Find Yourself Chain-Vaping, Use a Lower Nicotine Concentration

Please Visit our Australian Electronic Cigarette e-store for all your e-cig needs. We carry a large selection of e-cigarettes, accessories, and e-liquid.
