nicotine sequence

Ive started doing the diy juice deal about 4 weeks ago. Ive been speed steeping them in the crock pot for 4 hours, shaking them vigorously every hour. Im just trying to figure out when to put the nicotine in. Some people put them in the recipe as if they put it in before they steep them in the crock pot. Some people say that heating the nicotine up reduces the amount of nicotine you put in. When exactly should i put it in??

Go ahead and put it in before steeping. Give it a good shake after the 4 hours are done. A study was done that showed 150 degree heat from the crockpot had no adverse effect on the nicotine.

Yes definitely put the nicotine in beforehand - it's a critical part of the 'steeping' process!

Well im asking also cause our vape shop downtown doesnt put the nicotine in their juices until they are handed out and i wasnt sure if there was a reason for it

Because it's cheaper or easier for them to do that at the time of the order. Then they're not stuck with, say, 24mg juice they can't sell.

I got ya. We was kinda clueless on that part. I know that extra little bit of pg can make or break the flavor and i got several blends spot on without the nic and want it right with

As someone who's bought in bulk direct from flavor companies I can understand you completely...you always want to start with nic first...you hit it right on the head when you said a little bit of of PG/VG change can ruin a flavor.....if you have a flavor completely balanced before adding the nic base then adding it can water it down and weaken the flavor dramatically....a couple years ago Madvapes did a "poor man's" study themselves to see how much potency eliquid lost over time if it was set out in room temp...they posted their results in their blog here...

It takes a lot for nicotine to break down...I don't have links off hand to all the scientific stuff but you should be good to go...if you're DIY'ing you should have a home nic base potency test kit just to be safe anyways...these days nic vendors are pretty much dead on with their potency levels but there have been cases of people getting different nic strengths than they have ordered in the past...it's better to be safe and check yourself...if you don't have one you can get a decent one fairly cheap here...
