He was a man child again this year for Halloweenhalloween or just after what a time to Raise the Thread I mean Dead.
Fuck Jai Haze and his fan boys and girls. He's nothing more than a fucking drama queen and a flat out liar on many occasions. Have you seen his FB posts? Nothing but a shitload of sheeple responses. He handled what was a simple mistake in a highly unprofessional way and blew it entirely way out of proportion.
Maybe consider getting some 38 gauge also.KP is having a sale. I have always planned on learning how to make my own fused claptons. I was thinking of getting a few hundred feet of cores and 500 feet of outer wrap. Does that seem like a sufficient amount to learn with? Here's what's in my cart.
KA1-
26ga - 100feet
28ga - 100feet
36ga - 500feet
N80-
26ga - 100feet
36ga - 250feet
SS-
26ga - 100feet
36ga - 250feet
I want a bit of everything but I mainly use and like 26ga cores. Would 38ga outer wraps be a better plan? Also, do you think I should get more of any particular things?
I was wondering if I should be maybe practicing with a cheaper brand (or site) of wire?
Also maybe a 28g in N80 and ss. 26g fused Claptons come out pretty low in dual coil set ups. I usually run 2x28/36 or 38KP is having a sale. Lightning Vapes, now Wire Optim, is cheaper and they have odd gauges. Not at all discouraging buying from KP. I'm a raving fan. Just pointing that out if you want some still good wire that was a bit cheaper to practice with. The really cheap Chinese wire is not something I'd ever use. Thanks for the recommendation Chef. I went ahead and ordered some 38ga (in addition to 36). I had no idea how much to get. My final list that I checked out with-Maybe consider getting some 38 gauge also.
As far as straightening wire. I just grab the open tip with pliers and pull out the length then give it a nice pull while still on the spool. Works wellThanks for the recommendation Chef. I ended up ditching the SS and got some smaller outer wraps instead. I'll get SS somewhere down the line, maybe from AVS.
Is there a ratio I should learn. Say I use 1 foot for a core or cores. Roughly how much more is used to create a clapton or fused clapton? 5 or 10 times the amount so like 10 feet of the thinner wire per foot of cores (5 or 10:1)? If that's the wrong way to look at it I understand.
One last thing.. Straightening wire by spinning it... I don't know why but it bothers me a little. I guess I'll just have to experience it. Does it bother anyone else? I don't know what I'm worried about. You probably cant tell unless you were able to look at it on a microscopic level.
Yeah, I don't like the twist to straighten thing either. Just enough pull to barely feel it stretch a hair.As far as straightening wire. I just grab the open tip with pliers and pull out the length then give it a nice pull while still on the spool. Works well
However, if you want to see a true master builder in action, watch NICK DEVINE'S videos on Youtube.
What do you mean?Oh noes. I've been doing parallel incorrectly. *smh* Now, I see the light and better appreciate.
What do you mean?
I haven't tried any spinning yet. I've been watching videos though.Well just in how Devine does it, the second wire naturally falls to fill the spacing between the first wire's wrap. I was putting two wires together and trying to keep them together, side by side. It was a bit of a mess. His way is a lot better, easier, and more knowledgeable imho. I had a light bulb coming on moment. *chuckles*
I use tiny clothes pins. Also hot glue when doing more than 3 core. Use a lighter to heat it then melt on the ends. That's for intricate builds though.I haven't tried any spinning yet. I've been watching videos though.
I saw some videos about that. You can reverse the drill while holding the FC wire at certain points to straiten it. But others say don't even worry about it bacuse they'll fall in line while wrapping around your jig.
I doesn't look like the three core ones can be done this way. They need to stay flat with key rings or paper clips. I think I saw clothes pins one time too.
Awesome! Thanks for the tips. I ordered #2 snap swivels somebody reccomended. They should be here tommorow. I'll order some beadalon tamers today. @gsmit1 also told me about those. What is that orange thing called? I might want to get one of those if they help things.I use tiny clothes pins. Also hot glue when doing more than 3 core. I use this spin Lt bearing with a fishing swivel hook on it. Before that I used barrel swivels from Walmart.
Now I just loop the wire through the swivel hook. Then run my fingers down to the end keeping them as close as I can with tension. Bend the ends to fit in your drill easier and you'll have a piece of wire sticking out to start your wrap wire.
And I can't recommend enough to get some beadalon spool tamers to keep the wrap wire from unspooling
that link isn't workingIt's a spin Lt I got from USA ohm meters.com

There's a few different colors also
I don't blame you. It's got a lot better bearing than fishing swivels for sure. Just didn't feel like trying to rig something up.oh, its is now. for $30+, i will make my own.
