Looking at getting a back-up box mod in a smaller form factor. Have a VS rDNA and love it. But want to go a little cheaper for a back-up. I have been eying the IPV mini but it hasn't bee out long enough to tell if it will hold up. So how is the quality of the previous P4Y mods??? Any issues??? Any other suggestions that might be better at this price point/form factor???

I've heard the newer version 3 is better, but I'd stay away from the earlier ones. The touch sensors were a bit touchy. They also seemed flimsy to me.

I have a couple of the IPV2's, and they have been reliable. I think Pioneer4you's quality is better than Cloupor. I've also been looking at the IPV mini's. I love the form factor, plus they have the YiHi SX130 chip.

Here's where I have seen the best prices in the last 24 hours.

IPV mini available at Vapor Range in Cali for $54.95 with free shipping
elev8vape was $50.63 shipped. "xmas14" coupon
eciggity has black and silver in stock for $56.99. Coupon code 10percentoff brings it down to $51.29 with free shipping

I have the V2 and it works very well.

But I have disarmed the touch sensor. No big deal and it is just in the wrong place for me anyway.

I have both an IPV1 and IPV2. Had both for almost 3 months and no issues whatsoever. I also turned off the touch sensors on both of them. They are just a gimmick. The screws for the back covers do not seem very sturdy on these like on the DNAs so I tend to use the internal rechargers for both of them. I have been very pleased so far. I don't sub-ohm so only vape both at 15watts.

I'm approaching two weeks with my Carbon Fiber IPV3, and so far so good. I expected better battery life, but that's improved as I've taken my batts through some cycles. Overall it's a quality device IMO. Has kinda ruined mechs for me, but I still like their looks and simplicity. It's a bit unnerving to be back to something that has a potential to fail in such a way that I can't remedy. Most mech issues I can deal with, but any box mod will share that issue of complicated guts. These YIHI chips are fairly highly regarded, I believe.

Had an iPV 1 and it died after a month , YiHi chips are generally preferred over no name chips but some are not as good as their made out to be . Good one bad one , thats how it goes most of the time.

Now the SX 350 is very good.

I may consider an ipv down the road, read lots of bad reviews about quality control, but seems like thats not always the case.

I have an IPV2 that I have been using exclusively since mid July. I have had no problems other then the tiny cover screws. There have been no chip hiccups and the connector is still perfect. Also I don't sub ohm, I use between 1.0 and 1.8 ohms.

You bring up a very good point that i think many don't think about much . I usually vape on the lower end of the wattage scale and tend to prefer higher ohm builds , it seems with the China stuff if you vape at their limits most of the time there seems to be considerably more failures.

My iPV had a button issue where it continues to fire even if you release the fire button , i think it's just some sort of fluke but YiHi chips fitted in P4U enclosures tend to be more reliable than many others out there.

With P4U and YiHi , you have a better chance of getting something good than many others out there with no name chips and companies that are not very well known but there will always be a chance of getting a dud regardless of what mod you go with.

Many users have admitted to being very very abusive with their mods , actually trying to get them to fail which i found very surprising .

Of course not all but there's a bunch of people like that . When you consider that some people push their mods to the limits and subject them to rough treatment you going to have a fair amount of failures.

I sent my iPV1 into Asmodus for warranty repair late last month after it produced some stinky burnt wire smells and a bit of smoke. I waited a couple of weeks or so and heard nothing back. I sent them an email to which they responded quickly and I was told that they werent able to fix it....they are sending me an iPV2X as a replacement..I have the tracking number....not a bad deal...didnt like the 8 dollar "admin fee" that they required, but considering the upgrade, I'll live with it....

That fee does suck, but we knew going into it, so I guess it is what it is. However, them sending you an upgrade is really pretty awesome. I seem to read bad things about Asmodus, this makes me happy in the unfortunate case I have to ever deal with them.

I own the IPV Mini 30 Watt and love it. Changing batteries couldn't be easier no hex keys to tinker with. It regulates very well no issues. You can get them for as low as $50.

My V2 is a few months old and has been just fine. I like using the touch sensor for firing and my gripes would be lack of magnets and the full size door which reduces the topside resulting in a smaller 510 than desirable.
It's the mod I see others using the most when visiting shops.

I love mine. Got rid of my istick 20w that had a firing pin issue. Then I hear that the iStick 30W has 510 thread issues. Check out vapenw.com Facebook page. They are having to give refunds for it. It concerns me about the quality over price of eleaf.

I had to get rid of the istick and hearing about the Istick 30W issues, I think I'll stay away from Isticks.

I read some bad things as well which made me a bit apprehensive about how the warranty process would go. In my case, it couldn't have gone better. The emails I got from Asmodus were professional and polite and I received my replacement mod, which was shipped USPS Priority, yesterday. Very fast shipping. I received a brand new, sealed iPV2x. This thing appears to be a bit better constructed than the iPV1. It has a better quality fit, finish, and feel to it right down to the buttons. It's slightly wider as well. It doesn't easily slip into the iPV dock I got from Vape3D. I might need to sand the inside of the dock down a hair or two and see if it will slip in. Hopefully, it holds up better than the previous mod. I've already ordered a JWrap for it...

The iStick is made by Eleaf, so you might have better luck getting an answer in one of the threads about it specifically.

@Chedda I mean no disrespect if you know this, but the iPV and iStick are two separate companies. Completely different mods. We're talking iPV here, made by Pioneer 4 You. I don't have any experience with the iStick, but my Eleaf ohm reader is nice, lol.

@Spike64 I'm happy it worked out so well for you. I think the problem people are complaining about might be two fold. One, pre orders I believe, amongst other falsities, were told they had a 1 year warranty, not 6 months. Also, pretty much every vendor I see still lists the warranty as 1 year, so reading that card when you un box is a shock, I had read about it prior. I really haven't read anybody but you discussing dealing with Asmodus, so hopefully they are always as good as the experience you had. Enjoy the upgrade!

Understood and point well taken...I have seen some stuff written on a couple forums regarding bad warranty experiences with Asmodus, but I suppose one could find such things written about any company and their warranties, not just vaping products. It wasnt a widespread issue. If a company sells enough product some will fail and some claims will likely have issues....it is what it is....I held onto the warranty card for the iPV1...it says 1 year, but that wasn't really an issue as it failed after a couple of months...as a side note, the warranty card for the new iPV2x says 6 months...lol

I had my ipv2 for 7 months then it started jumping ohm readings. I emailed my vender and they told me to send it in. Had store credit within 15 mins of them recieving it. Got an ipvmini and I am loving it. Its .1 off on sub ohm builds (common issue). I am ok with that.

I'm glad everything worked out for you. One thing I learned a long time ago is that you can never judge a company in its entirety based on a few reviews where people had expressed dissatisfaction. I give every manufacturer an honest chance to make things right. If they are credible their actions will show in how they deal with your issue. Electronic Cigarette products are mass produced and there's always the probability that any of us may get a lemon, it doesn't make the product bad or the manufacturer incompetent, people make mistakes. When I got my IPV Mini I heard complaints about it firing in lock mode by quite a few people and it gave way for concern. So I tested my mod and sure enough it "did not" have this issue, everything worked as it was supposed to. My IPV is performing very well and I'm sure it will continue to do so. They got a limited version coming out soon the Mini 2 that's supposed sub ohm to .2 and power at 70 watts, upgraded Yihi chip as well, should be interesting. I don't need another one but I'm sure others will take note and buy one to enjoy. Congratulations on getting your new upgrade and the Priority shipping, looks like Asmodus stood by their product and took care of you well. Get your wrap and dress it to the nines:)

If I may take a moment and second that. My ohm reader and 20 watt (5 of them) are working flawlessly. Friends have the 30 watt and are very happy with them, no issues whatsoever. I like my ohm reader too:) Okay, back to Pioneer 4 You and the IPV's

Got some more vapemail today...an iPV2 from Asmodus...seems they messed up and sent me a second warranty replacement along with the iPV2x that they had already sent...I sent them an email to inform them of this and ask them where to ship it back to. They thanked me for my honesty and are sending me a prepaid shipping label...
