New Android app makes life a bit easier

Hi folks, just released a new version of my Android app. Some of the features are
  • 2 recipe calculators.
  • recipe, aroma and batch manager
  • steeping notifications. Create a batch, set number of days and get a notification in the device toolbar.
  • volume or weight calculations, using components own specific gravities.
The first calculator is based on specified PG/VG ratio, nicotine base (PG or VG), target strength and an arbitrary list of aromas. You then get the amount of dilute PG, VG and nicotine base.

The second calculator can take any number of PG/VG/premixed bases. Create new bases with specified PG/VG ratio and (optional) nicotine strength, and adjust them using sliders and locks. Flavors are added the same way as in the other calculator.

Note, that the amount of liquid is entered (for both recipes) in the recipe view page, it's not a part of the recipe. Enter a volume, and you will get volume & weight.

Calculations are very accurate, and has been tortured properly. The PG/VG ratio is affected by several factors: nicotine amount, aroma base (PG, VG etc) and of course, aroma amount. If the aroma is PG based (which is true in most cases), the calculator assumes that 75% of the aroma is PG (based roughly on info from some vendors).

All aromas are stored with a specific gravity. The default gravity is taken from the base (eg. PG, VG, water), but advanced users can edit this if they got the exact numbers.

Note, that I also included an aroma list from the 4 biggest vendors. They have to be imported first, swipe to the aroma library and hit the import-button in the toolbar.

See screenshots in Google Play (link below), and you get the idea. I am still adding new features to the app, and feedbacks are very welcome !

Let me know what you think:

Unfortunately, yes. But if I get the time for it, I may create an iOS version too, if that's what you're thinking of.

Well, I do have iOS, at this time. Thankfully, my contract is running out soon and I'm looking into Android. Regardless, I think there'd be a market for both. Your app looks great! It's nice to see more people adding the "measure by weight" feature to their apps/calculators. I'll keep this one in mind when I get a new phone. Thank :)

Hi Oyvind.

Great app for DIY, had installed it a few days ago and the recent update has definitely improved the app's looks (haven't messed around much yet)

One question/suggestion: I cannot find a way to make a batch with a date previous to the day it is created. Is it possible ? I have a bunch of batches that I would like to keep track of with the ejuice lab.

Hi, thanks !

No, sorry.. I made the batch function based on that you create a new entry when you do the mixing. However, I'll add it to my (ever growing) TODO-list, shouldn't be too much work. Actually, I had another guy asking for the same thing :)

However, you could try the new steeping notification. Since you know when you created the batches, you also know how long they got left to steep.

Thanks for the input !

As a potential "workaround", there are a lot of cheap Android tablets on the market these days :D
Lol, true. That's something we've considered getting, just for the handy dandy-ness of it. Yes, that's a word:D New calculators that measure by weight are exciting news. Thanks Oyvind!

You're welcome ! :)

As far as I know, there is only one Android app that does weight besides my app, namely Liquix. I use a scale myself when mixing, so it's been tested & verified :D

Just downloaded it to check it out. It crashes every time I click the blue info icon for flavors. Then I input a recipe but it crashes on the batch button. I may consider this app i stead of Liquix that I use now, but these crashes need to be fixed first. I'm using a Galaxy Tab 10.1

Hey !

I got your crash report, and will look into this ASAP. Note, that this seems to be a device specific issue, and I am not able to reproduce the errors on any of my devices or emulators. I can assure you that I would not release an app that crashes on basic functionality, everything is being tested before release (including 6-7 beta tester guys).

I will dig into this as soon as I get home from work, and notify you when I got a fix for this !

UPDATE: Torturedzen, check PM

Update: Tablet users that get the crash described above, update to the latest version (2.2.3). Just uploaded it, allow an hour or two for the new version to be available on Google Play.
