Hey all!
After quitting smoking in December and starting my #Vapelyfe I've spent Alot of money on juice, mods, etc. So now that I have this new "addiction" I'm ready to dive into the world of DIY mixing. I've found a couple flavors that I like and vape daily, but the cost effectiveness just isn't justifiable. The problem I'm running into is there is just so many different products, sources of information and combinations of both that I'm finding myself spinning and not comfortable taking that first step.
Here's what I vape and what my situation is. I am down to a 6mg Nic as I vape Alot and a higher nic level dosn't agree with me at the end of the day. I prefer a 50/50 or even 60/40 VG/PG blend. The heavy vapor from the VG gives me some of the satisfaction I want from my 25 years of stinkies, and from what I read the PG helps with boosting the flavor.
I'm finding my taste buds either failing me or I need to switch up brands or flavors as i can't seem to taste Any juice anymore unless it's a Very sweet, citrus flavor(ie. Pineapple), which I don't really enjoy. When i got started I could taste all the different flavors with no issues. Loved the Apple Pie I purchased from a local brick and mortar and Vanilla is my absolute favorite flavor, problem is I can't taste them anymore. So I want to make my own, How much do I need and of what?
I see deals from vendors for 1ltr 100mg Nic for $40. Seems like a good deal, but do I Need that much Nic (both strength and quantity) for the amount I use? (6mg juice) I would think a bottle that size would go bad (does it?) before I got through it. Bottles..I have Tons of 15ml leftovers from my collection. Both glass and plastic, some with droppers and some without. I think I'm good there. So I would need a couple larger containers for batches, 30ml or bigger? Mixing containers/beaker? Syringes or pipettes? I imagine the syringes are more accurate forms of measure and control.
Flavors.. well, I'm still looking to replicate that first Apple Pie flavor, and i know recipies are all different and that steeping plays a huge role in the overall flavor outcome. So even if I cant replicate it Exactly I wouldn't mind coming close. It's all trial and error, I get that. How much flavoring should I get, size wise? I imagine I'll be experimenting a lot with flavor combo's and looking for that desired taste, so basically how Far will a bottle go?
If I buy a bottle of 100mg Nic at 25/75 pg/vg Do I need more pg/vg to dilute the nic level or is there something else I use? I think i read something somewhere about using distilled water to cut vg.. sorry, I'm rambling thoughts off here.
Anywyas, I think you can see what I'm getting at If you made it this far into the post, thank you! Any help at all would be appreciated, just try no tot confuse me any more than I already am! lol

ok first to taste the flavors make sure you are always well hydrated

if you get that much nic separate it and freeze the majority. i dont do mine like this so search the forum for details on freezing nic to be accurate. also try getting either 100% PG or 100% VG nic base so your mixing is easier

flavors is all subjective. a lot of us like flavour art and mostly use that. buy 10ml bottles and they go a long way. 10ml bottles of other brands like capellas or tfa may require more flavoring percentage so youll go through those a bit faster

you need syringes for two reasons. make sure your nic levels are accurate and make sure your flavor percentages are accurate. pick up a few 1, 3, 5, and 10ml syringes. you can wash them out after use and they last a while

people only use distilled water to cut vg if they dont like pg mostly the cloud chasers and people with allergies

That much nic will last you YEARS but what's wrong with having a good supply of it if you can get it at a good price? Follow the advice above and separate it into smaller glass amber bottles and freeze it. I actually have a large hard plastic bottle of nic in my freezer for over a year now. I know you're not suppose to keep it in the plastic but I think that's just out of concern that the plastic toxins don't leech into it. I have a feeling it's fine though.

Welcome to the VU.
If you are wanting to DIY for money saving reasons, you might not like the results when several companies sell large bottles of juice for under $20 http://wholesale.heartlandvapes.com/bulk-eliquid.html for 250ml
I am into DIY because I like to play around with mixing flavors together. If you do get into the DIYing start off with small batches of single flavors, Take notes and then mix two flavors together,
As for storing nicotine. Keep it cool, in the dark, and away from air. When I get a new bottle of nicotine I rebottle it and fill smaller bottles all the way to the top, then put them in a dark container then into the freezer. (If you have kids, you may need a small lock box)

Thats...a lot of juice. Question becomes, how good is it? Subjective, I know.. but something for me to dwell on. 250ml is aweosme if it's good. But would hate to sit on that much if I hate it. Thanks tho!

And thanks for the responses so far, it's very much appreciated!

They also sell samples. I have used several different flavors from Heartlandvapes and I pick flavors of things I would/do like to eat and have never been disappointed. When I first started vaping and buying from HV I got 50 5ml bottles and tried a different flavor each day. Now they are selling 20 10ml bottles for $25. http://wholesale.heartlandvapes.com/sampler-bottled.html and now you get to pick the nicotine level.
