I am not very experienced when it comes to batteries and such but are the vtc5's better then the 4's and what's the differences ?

VTC5s hold more charge than the VTC4s, but that's basically all. They're both 30 amp continuous discharge. They both charge fully to 4.2 volts. The VTC4 is a 2100 mAH battery while the VTC5 is 2600 mAH. All that means is that it will last longer between charges. I believe those are the only differences.

They are both rated 30A continuous discharge, but the VTC5 are 2600 mAh and the VTC4 are 2100. The VTC5 will last a bit longer before you have to recharge them. But like BoomStick said, you're not going to find any authentic VTC5 out there right now, at least not anywhere I know of.

Illumination Supply also has them at $8.50 right now and they are legit.

@Ryedan Thanks for the info on this site. Just went and not only good prices on batteries but their prices for chargers are awesome. Efest Luc V4 29.99 and Nitecore D4 21.99 and D2 13.99 , I2 is 10.99 and I4 14.50. Great prices I am looking for a new 4 bay charger and looks like i found the place.

I would recommend considering Xtar chargers. The other brands are fine, but for a couple extra bucks the xtar is a little better quality. If not xtar, then a luc or nitecore would be good choices.

They all heat up. When charging and discharging. It's about how much they heat up when discharging at certain levels of current draw.

If that's the case then I'll need some VTC4s when I start doing sub-0.3ohm builds, but for my 0.5-0.4 builds they're fine.

People have been super sub ohming with them and I have yet to hear bad things. Just that they warm up. They are still great batteries but if your someone who follows battery safety to the letter then I'd get the 4s or just use a high power dual battery box mod or vw box

If I were going under 0.2ohm I'd be getting a regulated mod anyway.

If your using a dual battery mech I'd use the vtc5 if you can find some. The amp laid is split between each cell when parallel. And the run time would be awesome.

That power stream link doesn't prove they're 20a cdr cells. It only shows capacity and cell temp up to 20a. It shows no data past that. The max temp these cells can reach is 80 degrees celcius. At 20a it almost reaches that temp, but doesn't happen until 2.5v. Regulated devices won't allow a cell to get that low and mech users would have almost certainly stopped using them well before they get that low. The data simply doesn't show what the cell does at a discharge rate of 30a.
