Risked faceplant to protect trusty mod

Last night I decided to walk to the store. I figured the exercise would be good. I took with me my trusty Gen 3-300 with Prince rba. I love this mod. It was my first real mod purchased 3 years ago. I use it every day. I was walking home on a dark section of the sidewalk mod in my right hand. Well someone discarded a metal ring about 16 inches in diameter. I did not see it. Next thing I know I am off balance and falling. Some how the ring found it's way around both my ankles. I realised I was going down and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I do not know how I processed so much information so quickly. First impulse was to put out my hands and protect my face. But...if I did that I would have to drop my mod and risk breaking it. No that's unacceptable. I decided to take the hit. I put out my left hand and held tight on my right. Good news it was not too bad and I did not lose hold of my mod. It was painfull however. I got raspberries on both knees and on my chin from it striking the pavement. Also the top of my right hand from holding my vape. I got home bloody and bruised but my vape was just fine. What would you do to protect a favorite vape rig?

Good grief! You're lucky you didn't break an arm or something!

I rarely carry a vape rig when I'm up walking around. I have them stashed in different places so I don't have to carry them around much. If I'd been taking a walk, I probably would have had a purse with me, and the rig would have been in the purse.

You just need to start carrying a purse! lol

Honestly I have been a faithful carrier of my man purse for many years. Just recently the strap broke and I have not carried it in about a week. Otherwise I would of had my hands free unless I was actively vaping. Which is the reason I was walking to begin with. I enjoy walking and riding my bicycle and vaping.

I once had a similar event. My current phone uses a 4200mAh battery so, these days for those dark sections I just turn on the flashlight, and, I always keep watching out, non stop, and everywhere I go, as that constant-awareness frame of mind also is right at the very core of how I define safe use of a mech mod.

I remember doing that with a beer one day when grilling. I tripped in the backyard and as I was going down , held my beer up so I wouldn't spill it.
You have to have priorities
Perfectly understandable... as long as it wasn't a Heineken.

My mods do whine that I never take them anywhere. They have made friends with my PC which shared your mishaps with them. They are no longer whining. Thank you for sharing.
