Juice behind screen of Dovpo Topside Dual

Hey guys and gals, had this for a little less than a month and woke up one morning and there it was, juice under the screen, right now it is doing weird stuff, running through the menus, not turning on, turning on but not staying at the setting you put it, etc. Does anyone know of a teardown video? By the way Dovpo is sending me a new one but they made it clear that it's going to take a long time. Thanks all

I've been using Topsides since they came out. I had the same problem early on with one of them. The solution is to not fill it to the top.

Take yours and put it in a bowl of rice for a week. It'll dry it out and it may be fine. This worked for me.

How was the process of taking it apart? The fucker that sold it to me actually sold me the 1st gen for $120 Canadian. I can't say enough about Dovpo. The picture that they asked for was a way for them to tell which generation it is and she told me it was the 1st gen and that she is going to send me a 3rd gen, so i can't complain about them. I never fill bottles to the top but with the way you have to put the batteries in you can find yourself tipping it a bit too much. I'm thinking that must have been what happened. Because otherwise i'm stumped. I know one person told me not to squeeze the bottle too hard. But anyway thank you for your reply and it looks like tear down day.

No, I didn’t take it apart. I did leave it for a week though.

As for the gen issue, i have 3 singles that have to be 1st gen as I was an early buyer. I have one in the mail which brings my total to 6. How do you determine the gen?

As for filling them, I go just a tad above what I can see in the cut out and that’s it. My only criticism of the mod is not being able to know the juice level.

As a Canadian I'm interested in what shop sold that to you?

I have no idea but this is the pic they wanted me to take. I was thinking they were trying to see it i broke the battery door but i really don't know and i shouldn't be making assumptions seeing as they are sending me a brand new one. But here is the pic.

You didn't say which shop?

Are you in Ontario?

As far as the shop that sold it to me, i live in P.E.I. and it's tough around here right now. It's not a chain. Just a young fella with a very small shop. I could tell you some horror stories. Like when i asked a girl working at a different shop (there are 3 in Charlottetown) for 22g stainless steel, she handed me a roll of wire and i didn't look at it until i got home, She had sold me 22g nickel! I brought it back and i said "this isn't stainless steel" she then said 'ya i know but it's 22g". Not a clue what nickel could do to a person if they had an allergy, nevermind selling me something i didn't ask for.

I did buy a bottle of CRC QD Electric Cleaner but i assume i would have to take it apart first?

I was going to recommend a shop, it's in Ontario but ships throughout Canada.

ecigarettes.ca is owned by Albert Lee, he's known worldwide for his TRVP vape accessories and is a phenomenal guy. Every order I've ever placed with him (over 50) comes with cool extras, juice, batteries or other cool stuff. If I've had a mod die that has nothing to do with him he still takes care of me.

As sad as it is to say your experience with the wire you bought is all too common. Most vaoe shops employ people who know very little about anything other than pod systems. We have 7 shops around me here in Kitchener and I won't go to any of then due to similar experiences. I argued with a girl in one shop about batteries she was trying to sell me that she knew was for a mech mod that could've ended very badly had I not known what I was talking about.

I have used it to clean sticking switches on Vape MOD's and to clean many different Electrical Components over the years. Soak it good but try it on area first . First do a test on a part to see if it reacts with the finish but it is made for electrical components.

I just seen that your criticism is that you can't see the juice level. I have a bottle that you can easily see the juice level and the other one is darker but if you tilt it a bit you can see it. They must have changed them?

Might be worth checking out if you're having trouble down east
Oh ya i have used that site a few times before. Great service and always early! And like you said, most of the time there's extras thrown in. I go to the shops around here when all of a sudden i'm out of something. I know i made it sound like they are all scammers but they're not, A shop called VapeHead is what you would expect from a good vape shop, knowledgeable staff, great bunch of guys, and the odd extra thrown in. I bought some OhmBoy juice today and the owner threw in a bottle of a flavour he wasn't a fan of. So there not all bad down here.. But i have used ecigarettes.ca a few times and i have nothing but good things to say about my experiences with them.

Ok i see what your saying, but do you recommend taking it apart and spraying the board and whatnot? Or just spray around the buttons and the screen?

No, at first I recommend removing the batteries and spraying it where the e-Liquid might have gotten in. Spraying it to soak through.

I don't think I made myself clear. To begin, it has been thought by a few who've had the same leaking problem that it stems from overfilling the bottle. The question then arises, What is the maximum fill level? Is it to the top of the plastic holder? Perhaps even further into the metal area perhaps to the rim? It's quite likely that in order to maximize one of the benefits of the Topside, the size of the bottle, that many were filling it right to the brim, or very close to it.

The issue I have is that the cutout of the bottle sleeve matches that of the mod cutout. This is the maximum amount that can be seen when the bottle is in the mod. However, from the top of the cutout to the top of the sleeve is just about in inch. From there to the top of the metal is almost 1/2 inch. When the bottle is in the mod and it's filled to the top of what can be seen, how does one know when to stop filling it? It's purely a guess considering the variables involved. This is my criticism as well as the most likely source of the problem you and others have had with leaking.

It's funny you mention batteries. When i first started, like within a few days i asked the girl that sold me the "stainless steel nickel" if the two batteries were any good. I thought you could throw them on the charger and be able to tell if they were good. She said "yes" very quickly and then said "actually no these are ready for the garbage, we have some really good ones that will last for days" After her saying "yes" then saying "no" and trying to sell me a new set i just said no thanks and took them to vape head. Buddy said they were brand new.

I'm sorry, i see what you're saying now, and if you're one to believe that filling is supposed to be to the top cutout, and you go to put batteries in, and in that moment you feel the batteries sliding out and you don't think you're going to be able to catch them so you tip the mod sideways, thus letting juice spill out all over your mod and possibly into the board and the screen and other area's where juice isn't supposed to be. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Well the rice isn't working so i started to take it apart. And just my luck i get to a screw only 4 screws in and IT'S ALREADY STRIPPED!!!! READY TO DO A JAI HAZE AND SMASH THIS AGAINST THE WALL. My palm is killin me from trying to get that screw out. Man what kind of luck is this? I guess it just wasn't meant to be.. Oh and i get a QP Gata and had it for a day and it's leaking juice out of the bottom of the 510! Fuck me! Not my weekend. Hopefully it was leaking just because it was a bit loose. I don't feel like going through the bullshit that's attached to getting one from warranty. Just send me one that works. Do some quality control. I work in construction, i'm not rich fucking thing was $60CAD. Ok sorry for sounding like a baby. Just venting. That will be next. Jesus i hope not.

Apologies it took a bit for me to respond. Don't feel a need to apologize for letting out a little steam. Doing so in a healthy, acceptable manner is responsible & mature. Otherwise you end up going all wonky like some of the people last week.

May not be helpful at this point regarding the Topside. Will try though. When you put it in rice, be sure you have enough dry rice to cover the mod. Then leave it for up to a week in that. The rice ought to draw out any moisture. Discard the rice or leave it for the thing to dry out, do not eat it.

On the RDTA, check to ensure there is an insulator around the 510 pin. Sometimes an atomizer comes without one & it needs it. These are usually some kind of plastic, silicone rubber gasket. Not only do they serve to insulate the pin, they also help stop leaks. You might also check the pin is not bore through in the center as a BF (bottom feed) pin.

Hope I've been at least a bit helpful. Remember, as much as you take it easy on others, go as easy on yourself. We all walk long hard paths. It's okay to stumble as long as we keep going. :)

HAHAHA I WON'T EAT THE RICE! DON'T WORRY!. I took a few screws out and sprayed some electronics cleaner down the holes and it it working a bit better. But it's reading fully charged batteries as almost dead. I haven't taken a look today, but i will add some more rice to completely cover it. Dovpo is, or at least someone from Dovpo has said they would send me a new mod. It's been sitting in the Netherlands for close to two weeks as far as i can tell. But she did say it would take some time due to the "Covid Effect". I just want to get this one working to have two.
As far as the atomizer.....THE 510 PIN WAS LOSE. So not as bad as i thought. You don't ever have to apologize for taking a bit to respond and thanks for understanding the need to let off a bit of steam. Thanks for the tips and.........I WON'T EAT THE RICE!!!!

May seem difficult to believe, there are some who may. Some also may vape Tide Pods laundry detergent. They see the pods after it and think it's pod vape, I reckon.

Consider all these random warning labels we find in life. "Don't open door while in flight. Do not place plugged in toaster in bath water, ... et al" Apparently some one goes first and does these things many of us would think patently foolish at best.
