On second thought reading what you said again, one of the cords I figured on using IS a phone charger cord minus the 110 plug but that might not be good enough for a recording signals. I don't really need 2 cords anyway other than figuring a longer cord set up could be helpful but I think now I'm going to look for just an adaptor to use the cord that came with the mic to the 32 pin apple plug for this Ipad and lose the phone charger cord. Less conections and shorter cord would probably be best anyway.

Or no adaptors if possible by buying a 3rd cord with the right plugs on both ends.

It just never stops.:mad::DThx again!

What are the ends you need? Normal USB or Mini USB to Apple?

How are you top-filling your Orchid?
Left Hand - Block the air holes with fingers using one hand.

Right Hand
  • Unscrew top cap
  • Fill
  • Put top cap on and start screwing it back on until you have about 2 threads complete just before you hit the o-ring
Do all this quickly:
  • Turn upside down.
  • Release air holes
  • finish tightening top cap.
After you turn it back over you will get a small amount of seepage through the air holes so do the following:
  • Cover one air hole
  • Wipe the other air hole clean
  • Quickly blow through the hole: sort of like a CPR breath covering the hole with your mouth.
  • Do the same for the other air hole.
Viola, top filled easy peasy with no wear and tear on your fill screw and no need to find a syringe or syringe bottle.

Got a question for the gang...What size USB plugs do most of our chargers use that plugs into the standard 110 power plug? I need to connect two male cords/plugs together for a recording condenser mic and it's that same size/kind I need. I see 2.0 and 3.0 (it's not the mini like most phones) I wanna say normal size?

Here's the page I was on and both the 2.0 and the 3.0 just look same to me. I wanna say 3.0 is what I need but not sure. Thanks!

Can you actually post a picture of the connection you are trying to hookup and preferable the name and model of the mike.

You have a couple of statements in there that could mean different things depending on who reads them.

USB 2 and USB 3 are the same size.. USB 3 can carry more current (900ma vs 500ma) and more data, obviously. USB3 is also blue as opposed to black on the inside.

There are also 2 different types of cables - USB Data/Charge cables (also know as Sync/Charge), and USB Charge cables. Obviously the USB Data/Charge cables do both, but, might be limited to just the 900ma of power. These are the cables used to plug say, a phone, into your PC. The USB Charge cables are designed for the 'wall wart' type of power supplies and can usually carry more power, like 2.1a for charging tablets, and dont carry data (sync).

If you are buying a a new cable AND need it to carry data, get USB3. Otherwise, all you need is a 'USB Charge Cable' which will allow things to charge, but carries no data.

As for the coupler you posted, yes, that will do to connect 2 USB2 or USB3 cables, or a combination of both. How much power it will carry I dont know, but I would assume it is for Data and thus not have a very high amp carrying capacity.
Just to clarify something @Hey! it's just Ray... if the cable says that it is USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 it is a data cable. Power only cables do not meet any dataspecs and therefore cannot be rated at 2.0 or 3.0.

How well do those things work? Do they get the @CaFF seal of approval?

These are the ones I'd bought:

I'd say the metal ones work better as they have the weight to hold themselves down and prevent leaking.
But, if ya spray these with a bit of non-stick spray or use a dab of oil, that helps to form a seal. For the money I spent, they work fine. :)

Thanks. I wonder about them from time to time, but never when I have money... kind of like everything else I "have my eye on".

I have a room recording mic going to an Ipad for some simple weekly rehersal recordings. So I need more than just power. So I guess I'll go with the USB3 for sending the recording and for powering the mic. Thanks Midnight!

Maybe like this?

*edit*

IDK jack about Mac stuff, so IDK how that would apply. Just know about making USB cords longer. ;-)
