Quality Box Mod

Are there any box mods that aren't built like toys? I'd like something durable, in the 50 watt range? Preferably less than 200 bucks. So far I've gotten an ipv mini, good performance, but the cheap plastic parts started falling off after two days. Traded it for a Smok XPro BT50, less plastic, but the buttons rattle. Any suggestions? Links would be great.

Well I have an MVP & an istick, the istick is kinda rattly and could be called cheap feeling, however the MVP is built like a tank, but if you need more than 30 watts which I believe the MVP 3 will put out when it comes out I'm not sure what else may be like quality wise, I can only speak of what I've used.

The iStick 50watt should be coming out soon, looks soild to me and only $50. http://vapingcheap.com/eleaf-istick-50w/

But if you're willing to spend up to $200, why not just get a Sigelei 100 Plus, Sigelei 150w, or an iPV3? You can get these in the $100 range.

I myself see no reason to ever need more than 50 watts, but that is me. I did quite a bit of research before I chose the XPRO M65 and so far I am loving it combined with the Atlantis sub ohm tank. Tons of vapor and lots of flavor, it's a win/win in my book. YMMV?

Dual coil rda's can easily be setup to need more than 50w. Even at 50w a single 18650 drains fast. A Sigelei 100w plus provides plenty of power and dual batteries. Great owner reviews also. For most it's all the box they need.

I got tired of wating for the iStick50W and pulled the trigger on the Sig 100W Plus. Yes, it costs more than $50, but I absolutely LOVE IT!!! I got my for $76. PM me if you want to know where.

You might have to wait for another month or more until the iStick is finally released.

Just post it up. I don't think any rules forbid it here.

You could check out the Vapor Shark rDNA 40w .. http://www.vaporshark.com/advanced/mechs-mods/rdna-40w

There's also the Sigelei 50w VR2, which is an updated version of the 50 watt box that came out last fall ... http://www.asmodus.com/Sigelei-50W-V2-p/sigelei-50wv2.htm

Thanks for all the replies. I'm liking the sigelei 50 watt V2. Does anyone have any experience with the buttons? Are they loose and flimsy?

Btw, the buttons were not the issue on the Sigelei 50w V1. It was the 510 connector. They fixed that now with the spring-loaded connector.

Got mine in my hand right now. Buttons tight, clicky and no rattle. It's a solid box that does it's job every time.
Very user friendly and can take a pounding.

Is this an at home mod or on the go mod you are looking for?

I just posted a thread called Mile High Mods http://vapingunderground.com/threads/mile-high-mods-nucleus-v1-0.52992/ and it is not built like a toy. My ipv3 feels weak in construction when comparing it to the MHM. It is a tad over your listed budget though but no doubt would not leave you with a flimsy mod feeling.

EDIT: added link to thread

That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. A little higher wattage than I need, but if I suppose this could grow with me. I like that it's American made too.

This MHM is so rock solid, and I am loving it. It makes my Chinese mods feel like you said toys. If you are considering them contact the owner he is really responsive and no doubt will be able to set you up. .

My take on watts is I am usually at or a little under 50w but I would rather be able to expand my interests without needing to buy a new mod if my vaping style changes.

I'm going to order one in a week or so. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Fictitious.
No problem @TasteMyToast I am really enjoying mine. It is bit larger than some of the others on the market but it just feels so nice in the hand and you can tell that skimping was not on the agenda in the making of the Nucleus. If you do decide to pull the trigger on one chime in and let us all know your impressions on the mod.

It has a proper connector also. That's important to me. First commercial box I remember seeing with one.
It is a nicely built mod and you can tell when driving it that a lot of thought went into the construction.

I actually just went into my local vape shop, and a guy had one. It's just screams quality. I emailed the owner of mhm, and he gave me a code for 25 off. Definitly going to placing an order soon, just need a lil more cash.

Guys building mods in their house have known for awhile that a fdv (or varitube) connector is the only way to go. Nice to see a company finally figure it out. Makes me think the rest of the design and build quality should be pretty good as well. Got any internal pics you could share?

That's awesome that you were able to get a up close look at one because that is the best way to appreciate the build. If I would have been able to do that I probably would not have mulled over it for weeks.

BoomStick, I posted a few pics in this thread. http://vapingunderground.com/threads/mile-high-mods-nucleus-v1-0.52992/ but here is one with the back off. I can post up a pic without the batts after I get back from picking up the kids. 20150124_185750 (576x1024).jpg

The quality really is something. Makes my chinese mods look like junk.

Any thoughts on the Hana modz? They carry them at my local shop. They look and feel bulletproof.

I don't have a Hana but I was considering one again when I went this direction. No doubt someone that has one will chime in about them. I have considered them a few times in the last year, but I don't like how they do not seem to hold their value like some other authentic vape gear does. This could be due to the fact that they are heavily cloned by multiple manufacturers, and maybe we will begin to see the same thing happen to the Flask now that it is readily available by Chinese manufacturers. I don't see that phenomenon happening to the Zero though as it is not mass produced and has a some what elitist status symbol in the vaping community due to the extended pre-order and wait time.

Don't get me wrong I do not fret over how much can I sell a mod for, but it is a bit of a deterrent to me if I pony up a couple few bills on a mod, and then even in pristine condition it might only be worth half of that in a trade or sell situation 6 months down the road since authentic vape gear typically holds its value better than other used goods. Beside the clone factor though it could also be the production issue as a mod like the Hana has a higher production number, and it is a buyers market when they are found readily available everywhere. Sorry for the ramble lol.

So, after a lot of research on all the mods you guys suggested, I'm going to order an mhm nucleus on monday. Just one quick question though. Does it have a delay on the fire button?

Follow Wapari on IG, he just posted some pictures of the next batch and it looks amazing. It's just one guy making the boxes, so production is quite limited to say the least :D

Sweet, I will be looking forward to hearing your take on this bad boy.

Not that I can tell it fires right up every time including from sleep mode.

Yeah, he sure has an eye for beauty. Sometimes im so proud of Finland, and everytime i see W-boxes on Instagram etc im extra proud of our little country. Also check out Diablo Mods, the Fulgoris DNA40 is a great piece.
Yeah I have seen those before they are nice looking. Not sure how I feel about the tank cutout as they look designed with tanks in mind specifically Kayfun's I think.

Yeah, thats the only reason i haven't got one yet. I hate Kayfuns :D but works fine with pretty much all tanks and the big dripper.
