what are the differences, which do you prefer between Japanese cotton, sterile/non-sterile cotton, wicking material ? are there situations where you would use wick and not cotton ?

These and their variations are all "WIck" materials.

One could also use my old underwear as wicking material but 9 out of 10 vapers would not recommend you do so:D

Vaper #10 IMHO needs help:eek:

You need to be more specific with your question?

I've used a lot of different wicks. My favorites these days are either rayon or KGD cotton - they seem to give me the cleanest flavor. In my opinion silica mutes the flavors most of all!

well there is "string" which in the candle business is a wick, so that is what i meant by that, i realize what you mean by these are all wicking materials though

Yes it is! I used to use cotton balls, then I discovered rayon and there was a world of difference. I also now have KGD, and in truth there's not much difference, and it's slightly easier to wick with the KDG because you just cut off strips. But both are extremely god.

ok, i'll take a look for it..local vape shop was talking about just standard sterile rolled cotton, comes in rolled sheet form, he was raving about it /shrug I just ordered a kayfun, so wanting to know what to get before it gets here, the stuff i tested in the store was cotton, seemed ok to me, but if the KGD is better?

Nothing wrong with starting with the regular rolled cotton. It's what we all used before we found other things. And if you try it and use it for a bit, then you can try the other stuff once you can tell the difference! And you can buy the cotton in a drug store :p

I understand :) well thank you for the help I appreciate it, I think I'll just go straight for the KGD your talking about then, I realize everyone must have gone through hell figuring things out to start with, but since others have gone before me and you're saying the KGD is better, why waste time experimenting with the drug store cotton :) I just want a decent vape, I've been struggling the last several weeks trying to find the right set up for myself and I think/hope I finally found it, so I don't wanna mess around with it anymore lol

If you can't find Koga or any japanese cotton at your local B&M or wherever, go to the mall macy's whatever and ask for Shiseido cotton pads at the makeup counter its like 8-10 bucks for a bunch.

You can also get vrious types of japanese cotton (more then at most dept stores) by doing a search for Organic Japanese Cotton on amazon.com
Probably cheaper then dept stores too.

Koh gen do, Labo, Maji, and several others.

KGD is all I use now. Although I am excited to try this stuff called Cotton Bacon. Sounds silly but its basically KGD already made into strips :)

Run of the mill drugstore cotton balls are no good. Bleached and who knows what else has been done to them....organic cotton balls are good. Organic cotton wick(like string) is OK...but the organic Japanese cotton pads rock....which is why I can't wait for my cotton bacon to get here.

Do a search on Amazon. Plus, even better than KGD, medical cotton. I just ordered this stuff by Wick n' Vape called Cotton Bacon. You can get it from Amazon as well. Hope that helps :)

@vape.queen: Thanks, I found the KGD cotton on Amazon and free shipping was offered however, it said that with free shipping, it wouldn't arrive until March 13 - April 12th. When I selected expidited shipping, it wanted to charge me $20 for shipping, F-that!!!

I wanted to see what your experience with shipping was like.

Thanks again,
