Vaping Taxes in the United States and Around the World

I guess reckoning has to come from somewhere for all the magic money being cranked out by our government, so it might as well come from vapers.

Has anyone seen the CASAA call to action against vape taxes being planned by the wicked wizards of the House Ways & Means Committee? Better take action. Here's the proposed schedule of taxation:VapeTax.JPG

Glad you posted this, I was just looking for a place in the forum to post the same table - so upset!!!

Granted, I have enough Nic on hand to last until I'm 90, but I'd guess the majority of vapers, and certainly future potential vapers, do not

Yah, that's the thing. Many of us posting here have hoarded since the day government began to try and limit adult access to vape products, but there are smokers yet to be freed from the demon tobacco, including teen smokers.

When I took the CASAA action, slacktivism at best when you click and mouth off, I told my senator, who is a proven stooge of multinational corporations, that I was sick of having my taxes used against me, that this is just another sign that our government is "them up there vs. us down here", that our government hates the people, and of course I urged him to vote against the taxes. I hardly ever use the canned verbage in calls to action, other than referencing the bill number, because I know the politicians will just ignore it. I did mention that vaping is the only widely successful smoking cessation method ever known, and that it has kept me 100 percent off cigarettes for nearly ten years.

The action needs to be forwarded to the vape sellers we favor. Many of them are clueless. We should also forward to friends and family who might want to help us, the ones who scolded us when we smoked, the ones who congratulated us and shared our joy when we quit tobacco by vaping.

By now I really don't know whether or not it's big tobacco. Those companies could all have jumped on the vape wagon a long time ago if they'd wanted the market share. Some of them have. It could just be the nannies and the ANTZ, and it could be big pharma striking again, since they have the smoking cessation products that don't work.

i dont mind paying a REASONABLE tax on it as long as they leave us alone to enjoy our vices and stop being on the wrong side of history by trying to ban it.

20 dollar tax on a 30ml 12mg bottle? lol...nope. that aintzzz reasonable. thats way too abusive. they better rethink those ludicrous numbers.
5 dollar tax for 12mg is what it should be.
if they go along with that bs.....theyll just tax vaping into oblivion. which might be their plan all along.
if they cant ban it...they can tax it into oblivion.

There's a new CASAA call to action. I got it yesterday, but I don't see it posted among VU "new messages". Apparently the big vape tax was removed from the bill (I didn't know that), but now the criminals on the hill have sneaked it back in there.

On the action page:

URGENT UPDATE A crushing and excessive tax on safer nicotine products is added back into the funding bill for President Biden's so-called "Build Back Better" plan.
PLEASE MAKE CONTACT WITH YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS AND URGE THEM TO REJECT THIS DANGEROUS AND UNNECESSARY TAX!

I used intentional wording in a couple of ways. I avoided using the term "electronic cigarette" or "e-cigarette" because people don't understand what it means any more. Vaping has become the prevalent term, and I believe it should remain so.

I also kept in mind one of the early YouTube vape reviewers in the UK, who said, about contacting your governing entities, "you need to use strong wording but you can't just say suck my dick. You have to use strong wording to avoid saying suck my dick". So I took a dig at John Cornyn, who is a prime example of why we need congressional term limits.

I wrote:

Thanks to vaping, I have not had a cigarette in nearly ten years, so I do not understand yet another attempt to tax vaping products to the point that I can no longer afford them. It is just another example of having my taxes used against me.

I urge you to reject the new tax on tobacco harm reduction products, including vaping, in President Biden's spending bill. Vaping is the most successful smoking cessation method ever known, so this inclusion only shows that public health is the last thing our president has in mind. It will cause former smokers to resume using deadly tobacco cigarettes. A punitive tax on vaping products is absurd and grossly inappropriate.

I don't expect that rotting relic Cornyn to respond to my concern. I only expect him, as usual, to do whatever Big Tobacco tells him to do, but I, along with my fellow members of The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association (CASAA), urge resistance to calls for increased taxes and overregulation from misguided activists that seek to impede adult access smoking harm reduction products.

When I contacted Cornyn's office, all I got back was a basic response that meant nothing. I truly believe he could not care less about his constituents. I don't want to delve further into this, to avoid turning this into a political discussion.

The action, the click & send "slacktivism" is set up to go to your designated monkeys based on your zip code. I took the dig at Cornyn because his photo was at the top. I haven't received a response from him at all, not even his usual canned "I will keep your views in mind". The reply I received from Chip Roy was his usual diatribe against the other party and the whole bill, without one word about smoking harm reduction or my specific concern.

Nobody on the Hill, not one of them, will care about us losing this life saving option. It may be the most bi-partisan "we don't give a shit" consensus ever. Contrary to your concern about partisan politics, it seems to me we can be credited with creating political harmony among our dictators, universal indifference. I've noticed it all along.

At the very least, the last time his seat was up for re-election, I voted against him. It didn't do any good, but I gave it a shot.

hi, sorry for not being up to date, but I was wondering about specific taxes on smoking and everything related to smoking in San Jose, I already tried to contact the local office, but even there they didn’t give me specific information on the nearest regions? Who else can I contact?
