Good Day and Happy Vaping
I was running a little low on juice yesterday so I decided to whip up a quick batch of something that sounded yummy for the day.
I put in all FA flavors of the following. Was looking for a Cherry pie that would easy and a quick shake and vape.
3% Cherry
2% Cookie
1% Apple Pie

Thoughts were the cookie and apple pie would be the pie crust (Actually worked very well per HIC recommendation in his Lemon Meringue Pie thread) and the Cherry, well it would be Cherry.

To my surprise, the 3% Cherry was muted by the pie crust. All I tasted was pie crust. hahahah, not bad but not what I was expecting. I increased the Cherry to 4% with some improvement but stopped there thinking 5% would have been too much and I should have only put the pie crust at 1 & .5 respectively to begin with.

Just some rambling thoughts on my DIY learnings....

Thanks for the share! Rambling thoughts help us learn. My rambling thoughts...try mixing in a little black cherry with cherry for a stronger cherry flavor.

HI there and thanks for the input. I did think about adding black cherry but then again the recipe was already mixed, now I am adding to it. Will I ever be able to duplicate it if I like it. etc... All those thoughts starting running through my head. I said for a quick and easy mix, lets just experience this and make the next batch a little different hahahaha

Haha! Yes, I hate it when I mix a killer vape w/o notes or not sure on % because of adding here and there at different stages! GRRRR! At least I'm not alone. Good morning to you, vaping devil....need more caffeine!

Hahahahahh, I am right there with you Daintanee... Need more caffeine, and nice long vape to go with it on my over crusty cherry pie for the day lmao.
I have found that once I start tinkering with a recipe thats already in the bottle mixed up etc, i might as well not even try to say its repeatable. Take good notes and try on the next mix to get it right on the first shot. Anything from there is like poking and hoping....

Some of my favorites have been tossed together on the fly. Yep, I learned to write down every little thing I did to it.
Good Morning Huck & Hebob & Caddisfly! I got advanced CRS syndrome! I forget where I put my notes! J/k! Sometimes I accidentally add the wrong flavor though!

Oh honey, I've done that. I added a flavor to a flavoring bottle instead of my mix bottle. A few choice words were shouted, but it didn't seem to affect that flavor too much. At least I liked them both.

Oh Huckleberried, I think we have all done that. Just recently I was adding 1.5 ml of Nic to my mix. I lost count (yes it does happen) and ended up iwth 2.5ml must have been. I didnt get the throat hit cause I use VT, but I passed out like I was hitting a 3 foot bong. hahah a

Yep, I've had a similar "WTF did I just do?!" and have tossed those, just in case. I do have a nic testing kit, but for using 1ml of a mix to test didn't make sense when it was only a 5ml sample. I've been making a base mix of nic since then, lol.

Great Idea, I will have to def get my bases with Nic all mixed up to avoid those types of problems again..

I make a 300ml base at close to my nic level. I figure after adding flavorings, I'm somewhere near what I want. If it's too much less, it's negligible. I read so much about how much quicker it is when it comes time to mix, I decided to do it, myself. Plus I don't have to have my nic out too long, or too often. @AmandaD gave me the idea, so I started doing it, too.

So basically if I use 80vg/20pg with 3% VG based nic....... mix up 300 ml of the three to arrive at the 80/20 ratio and figure the flavors that are of pg won't make a huge difference. Would be huge time saver

It really is!

Well, I'm not quite that low on my nic mg, but you could make a 3.5 to 4mg base if you prefer. I like to vape around 12mg, right now. I make a 13mg base. 13 won't tweek me out, under 12 I haven't noticed. I put the numbers in my ejuice calculator, like I'd do for any mix, just made a big batch, no flavor. HUGE time saver. And shake the crap out of it. I used a container that had plenty of space in it so it'd be easily shaken, since your use a higher VG, you'll need a bit of room for it to move around a bit, I'd think (?). Sure, there's air in the top part, but it's never turned colors on me. When I'm done shaking it, it's the color of skim milk, then it settles clear.

Hey, @TheVapingDevil. Do you have FA Liquid Amber? You could try about 0.25 to 0.5% of that to get that baked cherry taste, maybe. It works pretty well for other fruits. Do like Daintanee said, add a SMALL amount of black cherry to the cherry. If that doesn't do it, you could try the liquid amber to the combination of cherries, too.

That sounds like something I would do....lol! That's why I put the fluids I'm gonna use on the left side of the desk. As I use them, they get capped and put on the right side. When I'm done, the left side should be clear, the right side gets returned to "inventory", and everything in the middle gets washed.
I'm a little ocd, but if I didn't I'd be afraid to inhale anything I made. ;)

Hey @Teresa P , I do the same and also have bad case of OCD. I screwed up when I had to take some of my nic out of the freezer and dispense it. Of course someone was talking to me which I am not a fan of when I am in mix mode and bammmmm, over nicotined haha

If my husband walks in the room, I stop mixing till he leaves. If the phone rings, I stop mixing and go to the next room to talk. I just don't trust myself to do it if I'm distracted. I screwed up once and doubled my nic to 36% doing that once. Jacked me right up! Lol!

I have a rule in my house - when I'm mixing, nothing with a pulse goes in the kitchen!! Hubby & my mom are really good about, I give them a chance to get coffee or whatever first. The cats are harder but my spray bottle helps, lol.

That one time when I lost track of my nic caused me to use this rule when my boyfriend walks into the kitchen. Well, it's not so much a rule as it is "an understanding". If he walks in and starts talking to me, I say out loud the number of what I just mixed in, turn to him and say, as lovingly as possible, "I'm mixing here!!!". He puts his hands up, nods, walks away.

That sounds like something I would do....lol! That's why I put the fluids I'm gonna use on the left side of the desk. As I use them, they get capped and put on the right side. Lol! Normally, that's what I do. Flavors on the left, done with on the right. I normally do cap a flavor as soon as I'm done with it. That ONE time I didn't and proved my own theory. Head slap moment.

Well, clearly you like it just the way it is! You may not need to add anything at all to it :). If you do decide to add black cherry, I might start at 0.5% and see if that does it, first. You can always add to it, if not.

What does the amber do to the flavor?

The FA Black Cherry tastes a bit like TFA & FW Marischino Cherry to me, but FA is less strong.

The latter 2 will blow your head off at 3%, lol.
1% is more like it.
(Some claim that these need at least 2 weeks steeping to come around)
