No, I simply have to get up early to beat rush hour for a 66 mile one-way commute.
Ah, I remember those days. When I was living in Temecula, I had to be on the road by 4:15 to keep my ride to Costa Mesa at 1 1/2 hours. If I left any later than that it pretty much worked out to 1 minute late adding 2 minutes to the drive :(

Initially, I only had to go into the office a couple of times a month, but some bozo in professional services got caught doing a bunch of stuff at his home office that he should not have been doing, including services that directly competed against his own business unit... so a new rule came out that anybody assigned to the home office had to work out of the home office every day.

It only took 6 months for me to decide that my life CA was coming to an end or I was going to be one of those highway shooters on the rampage...

Fortunately my current job is pretty stress free. If all I have to complain about is my commute, then I'm not doing so bad.

Yeah its 15° here...with a severe wind chill. Me and my kid were off all week because of snow and ice! (I work at my daughter's school so if she's off, I'm off)
That works out well. When my wife decided to go back to work I encouraged her to get a job as a special needs assistant given all her experience with our son. Would have worked perfectly for schedules :)

But she told me that she need a break during the day and didn't want to work with kids with special needs and then come home to work with Ethan all evening. Kinda understand that...

So she now works as a caregiver for the elderly who live at home. She loves old people and has wanted to do this for a long time, so it works for her and she has some flexibility to be able to schedule things so that she can take me to all my dr appts in addition to wherever Ethan needs to go.

He just got awarded services for Medicaid and we are hoping to get a caregiver for him to help get him places he needs to go like therapy and Special Olympics practices. He has been out of SO for a little of a year simply because we just couldn't get him there now that I can't really drive. :(

Awww...well, I'm only at the school for a few hours. I get just enough time with the kids before it gets to be too much, lol. How old is Ethan? I love taking care of special needs kids :)

Oh, I LOVED my job. Did technical support for distributed document management servers that had remote users, MSSQL or Oracle databases, later to add DB2 and MySQL (for really small environments).

I only worked on critical system failures and loved the challenge every day. Sometimes the people annoyed me, but generally after telling me what the problem was and giving me the keys to the system they just sat back and nervously bit their nails or worked on their resumes LOL while I figured everything out and fixed their environments.

Went on-site a lot, so got to travel the world.

That morphed into do system architecture design for customers implementing the products which I also enjoyed tremendously.

Really wish I still do the job :(

Good morning / afternoon everyone. My Thai curry pepper coconut milk ginger mushroom lemongrass soup is brewing. Just pureed and strained everything that was cooking overnight and added the final ingredients and will let it stew all afternoon. Took a few sips and now I have more hair on my chest.

He's 11 and has autism. He's a great kid and we have been able to keep him mainstreamed so that he gets more social interaction and peer modeling than he would in a special needs classroom, but he needs an aide to get through the day.

Just a note... if you work with special needs kids, you might want to drop "fucktard" from your vocabulary... it can get you fired if someone from your school hears it and knows you work there... I'd generally appreciate it too :)
