IPV mini showing scrambled numbers/blank screen

My brother has a IPV mini for about 2 months now and just earlier this week it started messing up on him. Anyone else have this problem? If you put the battery in, turn it on everything is fine. You can move the watts around and everything is fine. The problem starts when you start vaping on it. Where the battery shows it starts moving up and down. It goes from full battery to medium to low and starts over again. Then if you use it after a few puffs the numbers start scrambling and then the screen goes blank. The Mod still works but you can't see anything on the screen. Can anyone help maybe if you had this problem.

Sounds like there is a chip malfunction. I would contact the vendor and see what the options are. They are pretty low priced so it seems a replacement is a more viable option rather than sending in for service. Vendor would be the first step though.

Was there any other noticeable things like excessive heat when charging if charging batt inside mod.

I could see this type of issue possibly being caused by moisture that may have leaked into the unit. Remove the battery and open the side panel to see if there is any indication of it. If you find something that may indicate it... clean it up with either spray electronics cleaner or alcohol... then let it sit to air dry for a while... finish it off by placing it in a bag of dry rice to help pull out any remaining moisture that may not have evaporated.

99 percent isoprpyl alcohol works well, be careful of the regular rubbing alcohol that is 60% water, water is definatly not what you want going in there

Not an argument... but a point... Water is only bad with electronics when there is electricity involved. But you are correct that you want to avoid adding more if you can help it.

the only thing i worry about is corrosion, who knows what metals they use in there that water could have an adverse affect on.

Corrosion doesn't happen ( to any large extent ) that quickly... Most moisture will have dried within hours and if followed up with the rice ( or desiccant for that matter ) a day or two.

A friend of mine would, as a sideline business, purchase various lots of equipment ( business sales, military etc ) much of which were electronic in nature and often included computer components. He'd store much of it outside in the elements often for over a year since he was purchasing large quantities. Of the working and reclaimable stuff... he'd clean up their contacts and reassemble them. The computers, video equipment and others would usually work just fine after he was done with them. Of course there was always defective components, he'd scrap that for the metals and other materials. The defective stuff came that way... it wasn't caused by the conditions they were stored in.

I posted this in the original IPV mini thread. Take your battery out. Take something pokey, like a small screw driver, and push the pin up and down a few times. Put the batt back in and see if he vapes.

Does the batt level stay the same when you push the button?
My IPV3 batt level will fluctuate
sometimes when I'm pushing the button but volts/watts stays the same..I also used a inline voltmeter between the Atty and mod and no difference in volts although the batt level in the display will fluctuate sometimes.. I consider this to be normal as its been doing it from day one..its about 2mos old now...

I have an IPV mini 2. It fires but the screen is blank. Any ideas? Should I open it up? I also noticed juice saturating the 510 pin. I cleaned it upbut nothing yet.

It's the power button,open it and maybe u can fix the display's ribbon with duc tape or something cause în a few months it will go black completly
