She was diagnosed with Stage IIB (T2, N1, M0) Pancreatic Cancer last June, and had a Distal Pancreatectomy w/ Splenectomy done at John Hopkins last July. Of the 38 lymph node removed, they found one with the cancer. Problem is, this statement :( :

The overall 5-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is 5.1% (all stages). For patients with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs (metastasized) the reported survival rate is 1.8%. this increases to 8.2% for patients with regional disease and to 20.0% for patients with localized disease. http://www.path.jhu.edu/pc/DiagStaging.php?area=di

Pancreatic cancer is one of the rarest, but has the highest mortality rate.

Five-year survival rates approach 20%-25% if the cancers are surgically removed while they are still small and have not spread to the lymph nodes (localized). She had at least one lymph node involved, so her chances are cut in half. Thats what makes this latest testing result such good news :) She is doing Folfirinox which is a cocktail of 4 or 5 (depending) of the strongest chemos every 2 weeks and it finally seems to be working. She is not out of the woods by any means yet, but at least we can now see the daylight :)

Thanks man!

My uncle passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed about the same time as Patrick Swayze and passed short after Swayze. Fortunately he had been saving a rainy day fund for retirement and was able to afford some sort of special chemo treatments after insurance cut him off right up until the hospital and doctors finally told him that they wouldn't provide treatment any longer because it was not going to help and put him on the hospice list.

It is a devastating cancer and I'm very glad to hear such great news for you and your wife!

Morning AU.

Love this. Was really surprised by Ethan this morning... he has a golden retriever that he has never really engaged with. She waits for him to get home from school every day and sees him off every morning.

This morning he finally reached out and rubbed her on the head and nose. Was a great start to the morning.

To bad I have to follow it up by doing my taxes :(

Has anyone ordered (and received) anything from Fasttech since the end of January? I've had 2 packages sitting in China (supposedly processed) since the first week in February. No movement at all. I thought being ahead of the New Year, they would have at least left China but it doesn't look like it. Nothing I need right away, just wondering if anyone has heard anything.

Shit, had to walk half mile up the hill to the house to get home from the VA. Needed ski poles , my cane was worthless. To top it off.. labs were shitty. Kidney function down to 26, ah hell. great day to tell the world to KMA.

I'm really surprised how well this kayfun 3.1 vapes. I just threw a coil together in like five minutes and really expected that I would have to redo it but it's been vaping like a charm, no leaking, gurgling, dry hits or nothing.

I hate how henna makes you look dirty when it starts to wear off
Nice to work at a place where you can walk around with your skirt hiked up like that :p

Glad his numbers are getting better.... hey I've had over 16 years, sure can't complain. Just hate putting Mel through this again. Thanks for the prayers, I've had so many answered, feel guilty asking for more.

As my sons tatoo says (Here for a reason) I think you both must be God isn't finished with you just yet.

I like henna for those places you don't really want a tattoo but they are fun for a lil while
Ahh ok... the only time I got a henna was when my cousin was doing them down at the lake, then I got to thinking, I've been debating getting this tattoo that I designed for almost a year now, and had her put it on me... a month later I got the real thing I liked it so much!

You are in my prayers also. Please do not feel guilty. Prayers are what causes others to reach out to God. In no way can that ever be a bad thing.

Hi JM, I don't know your sons story but that does not sound good at all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son as well.
Thanks hun, most people in here know he had a liver transplant at 10 and a double lung couple years back. Its rare and some complications have arised (he also has Cystic Fibrosis) that are unique so its all been trial and error. He is doing a lot better then he was a month ago. The Drs told me he wouldn't make it to 10 and he is 27
