I have a terrible time with the pin on this one, i get my coils built on it "ok", i check it, it's usually anywhere between .3 to .4, After i get the cotton in and put it on the mod it won't fire. I fiddled with it for 2 hours last night before i finally got it to work...what gives?!

Don't really know.

Mine works every time.

Do you have a post lose or something? Is your screw(s) cutting off the leg of your coil?

i can't get it to operate at all unless i unscrew the pin to the point that it's on the verge of falling out, and even then it's a crap shoot if it's going to work, i fiddled another two hours 2nite, rebuilt the coils, etc, screws look ok insofar as touching the wires, the middle block is really loose, but there's no other way to get it to fire unless i loosen that pin that holds the block. it's reading about .5 on my counter, i'm able to fire it to squeeze the coils, i get the cotton in, get a couple of puffs on it, then it won't fire

Try pulling the screws from the top of the center post and pushing it down into the base really good - I've had them come loose on a few Plume clones, not sure if you're talking about a clone or original though...

ok, i'll try that. How can one tell if it's a clone or not, I'm not sure I trust the shop I buy from anymore, everything i have bought from them has been faulty in one way or another.

I have 2 plum veil clones that both work great.

a real plume veil is typically $100+

a clone is typically $15-50

Like Panther said, the legit Plume Veils cost well over $100 - I've never paid more than $10-11 for any of mine, but in exchange I get these finicky problems to deal with like what you're describing. Mostly it's my wife that has the problems, I think it may come from either over-tightening the atty onto her mod (thus pushing the center post up and causing it to come loose) or the device getting banged around in her purse - she won't admit to either, but the only one I've had go bad got dropped from a height of about 4' onto concrete and landed on the drip tip.

Any case, try pushing the pin back into place and tightening the bottom screw up, making sure to leave about 1 mm sticking out of the bottom past the 510 threads, and see if it solves your wobbly issues at least for a while. You could also try replacing the o-ring around the center post, not sure if your atty came with any spare parts. For $10, I just call it a loss and chuck 'em when pushing them together stops working, for $30 you might want to put a little more effort in...

sounds like your clone has the center post connected to a screw that goes out the bottom and doubles as the positive pin in the 510 screw. if this is the case you are having to loosen it to make connection with the positive and in doing so you are disconnecting the positive coil post. my suggestion is find a slightly longer screw and see if that doesnt help. if not take it back to the vape shop cause it is clearly a poor quality device. i dont have a plume but this is the case on my darkhorse clone although it fires like a champ. have you tried it on different mods? some dont have the same depth 510 connection,

thanks for all the advice guys! it helped me when i went into the store, so at least i knew what i was talking about. It did in fact turn out to be two issues: the pin was too small, and the part that pin is supposed to make contact with wasn't moving the way it should, so they replaced those parts and i'm back in business, phew! thanks again!
