I only logged in last night to check on gopher_byrd's big event. It turned out there was an accidental word match.

Yesterday was Fat Tuesday. It's called that because you go out eating and drinking and get fat before the lean times of Lent.

We're doing Mardi Gras and Valentines Day tonight for supper club themes. We agreed that time is an illusion but the celebrations are real, so if we missed the dates, there is still no point in giving up on the abundance, love and friendship that are represented in those festivities.

After that, Lent. Not to get too political here, but the maniacs running this world seem to be positively playing with the idea of thermonuclear war. I have hardly ever made the sacrifice of giving up something for Lent, or doing a more extended fast, nor was I raised Catholic (though people of other diverse sects do it too), but I understand the value of fasting and prayer. We discussed how we have to do something, anything, to bring our consciousness to this horrendous, casual, capricious bandying about of the idea of dropping nukes.
