Disassembly tips?

OK, I use my Magma 99% of the time A) Because I like it, but more importantly B) The screw on/screw off assembly. I'd like to buy a Derringer, heck I'd like to buy a lot of things but the problems that present are that I have weak fingernails and arthritis. It can take me literally five minutes to get my Mutation apart, and I just find I'd rather not bother. So can one of you who's smarter than I give me a tip or two to disassemble an o-ring RDA that doesn't leave me fingernailless and in pain. I'm sure others have the issues that I have, so what's the secret?

what do you mean disassemble? Like to clean or ? Or are you talking about general pulling the top off to add juice?

Pulling off the top to rewick, add juice, do anything.

ok, On some tanks there is 2-3 o-rings, On a Tobh 26650 clone I have it has 2 O-rings and is super hard to remove so I just removed one of them. Also like amanda said a little juice will go a long way as far as lubricating it.

My Derringers not so bad. I leave it on my mod when I do it, there's no way I could get it apart if it wasn't screwed down.

OK, thanks for the suggestions. Those things I've come up with. I thought perhaps I was missing some super secret decoder trick. :(

When I first got the Derringer, I didn't realize how the top cap was held on and was about to throw it out the window when I couldn't get it off. I used a jewelers screwdriver to pry it up. First refill I figured out it came off easy as hell when it was left on the mod.

How about those "rubber" cloths designed to open jars?

I've had even single o-ring RDAs be very, very tight. Like they made the tolerances too close at the machine shop.
If it's really a huge issue for you and you don't mind modifying your attys, then try sanding the inside of the cap a little at a time until it's easy to remove.

I don't have any personal Derringer experience, but I'll say that my clone Igo-M RDAs (both V1 and V2, sourced via FT) are very easy to pop the top cap off - much easier than my Mutations (V2 and V3). Perhaps someone with a Derringer can comment on how snug the fit is compared to other atties, given that's your area of interest...

The problem with the Derringer is that you have nothing to grab other than the top cap itself. The "base" is like hair thin, so really unless you screw it down, your only options are fingernails or a thin blade to pry it up.

Here, not the greatest pic but you get the idea of how thin the base is on the Derringer..

Consider a tobh. The top cap comes off very easily. But not so loose that it spins. The flavor is not as good as my magma but its not bad.

Sometimes I need a little help myself.

And I am not at all shy about using pliers when needed.
