Results with my mixes - Getting rid of flavorings I guess.

Sad to say....I hate most of the stuff I got. I've learned even after two weeks of steeping I'm not a fan of vanilla or creams, so the cake batter, custard V2 and sweet cream is a loss to me.

*My sweet and tart started off amazing, but now no matter how I mix it it makes me cough my lungs out. Not sure if the flavoring turned or what happened. I do like my blueberry + Malic acid, but am bored with that.
*The organic strawberry is weird. Sometimes its crystal clear, other times it's milky. Doesn't taste the best to me either. Doesn't have any tart of a fresh strawberry. Tart may be the wrong word but you know what I mean.
*The blue raspberry is far too sweet, but I'm thinking it would also work well with the malic acid, I just havent gotten to it yet.

All this bitching aside if anyone wants to swap my Custard V2, cake batter, Organic strawberry, Sweet Cream and Cinnamon Coffee Cake for something let me know in PM. These were the wizard labs 8ml drams and they're almost full, I only used enough to make 10ml sample bottles plus maybe a few extra drops of each. I'm always willing to try new things so if you like these let me know.

Too bad, have you tried the vanillas, creams & Cake Batter at a lower % when used as mixers.
Most don't work as a stand alone at all.
I'm liking the VC better at 1-2% as a mixer with fruits.
Cake Batter is a strange one as it can overpower other flavors easily, but some like it and some hate it.

can ya pop up a sample recipe of something you have tried?
has your nic, vg, or pg changed?
have you tried all vg or all pg? how do you know its these flavors?

Yeah, I take it into consideration. I also take a look at what vendors advise.

Honestly it's nothing too in depth. I have a bottle of base I mixed. 50-50 @ 3mg/ml and I used anywhere from 5-15% of flavoring depending on what it was, along with a good 2-4 hour hot water bath to smooth it all out. I'm actually dealing with this sudden urge to cough when I vape using flavors at percentages I've used before! It's so freakin odd. I have a bottle of 10% acai and 10% blueberry candy I mixed together (Both vape perfect solo) and it's killing me! I'm wondering if my base is turning. It tastes super peppery on exhale. Well not really taste, its like in the back of my throat.

Yes, it is clear.
Try vaping your base unflavored and see if it is the same.

Shouldn't have any effect that flavored doesn't have but if the peppery is there then you will know it is the nic doing it.
Some flavors will mask it better than others.

This chain vaping is killing me lol. It's getting close to pure base on the wick. It does seem ~ the same. What options do I have aside from dumping it? Does adding more VG help?

I thought it would be there. It is your nic doing it.
Many people use this type of nic and I suppose in time you'd get use to it but I'd buy good nic if it were me.
I have a freezer full of that type nic that I won't dump but I'll only use it if I don't have other options.

Vaportek nic is highly suggested by many here.
Bull City vapors sells it as well as Vaportek.
Good clean nic with no taste at all.

I definitely recommend BullCity for EVERY thing DIY! I'm a BullCity fanboy, Drew over there got me started down the DIY route. For a while he was giving small samples of VT nic with orders if you requested it but seriously, once you go VT you don't go back .

Are we talking from BullCity? It's all determined by weight. It's the bottles of PG/vg that are getting you. It's not a flat rate unless you are in range for priority flat rate

I don't think it should be 10... Unless you are choosing flat rate shipping. By range I didn't mean location. I meant weight wise, meaning at a certain weight it's more economical to get a flat rate box (if it fits it ships for flat rate) rather than shipping by weight. Believe it or not, USPS gets more $ for shipping vg/PG than the people who actually sell the stuff! At one point I was going to order my vg from Amazon (essential depot), it is SLIGHTLY cheaper but shipping was still $9 and some change, so I just got it through BCV and paid the $9 there, so it's like all the flavoring I ordered shipped free .
Edit: I'm not a reliable source for how much shipping should be, thinking out loud I suppose.

there... right there.. still smoking.. I am a dual too.. and i notice this as well.. specially on days I chain smoke and vape zero nic..

and.. the nic you are using.. it could also be an allergy to either your pg or vg..

reducing stress and lowering your cigs will help you out more than anything..
the only way i claim dual is i do still have at least 1-4 cigs a day.. sometimes less but never more than a half pack a day..
I did make it 8 months at one time.. and lately, since i picked up a new mod.. i am down to around 3.. I am getting back slowly

Got a bottle of Nic from MFS. Needless to say I ordered a bottle from wizard labs a week later. The MFS stuff had a very strong odor and a lot of throat hit.

When I first got the nic I was making 50-50 at 6mg all day and had no issues of any sort with it. I was still smoking at that time about a half pack a day. It helped me come down to 1-3 a day. I'm honestly thinking the nicotine has turned somehow.

As far as PG goes, I have read people suddenly become sensitive to it, but I find it hard to enjoy 80vg when making my own juice as I feel I'm missing out on flavor. I know it's not the VG or the density of the cloud as I can put pure VG in my tank and be right as rain as far as irritation goes.

I am certainly leaning toward the use of analogues as a partial culprit along with the turned/low quality nicotine. Today I'm going to make a 50-50 0mg base like 30ml and whip up a few test bottles from that and see what happens. If I still cough I'll then have to blame either the PG sensitivity or that Im still a dirty dirty smoker

Hmm. Maybe I just got a bad batch from MFS then because it made a big difference. The only reason I didn't go the VT route was because they were out at bullcity when I tried to order.

Could be. Before I tried VT I used MFS and WL. To me they were both pretty close to same thing.
If you do give VT a try... you won't go anywhere else. I was amazed.

Well the nicotine itself is in its amber bottle in my computer desk cupboard thing. It's dark and cool. My base however is in the clear plastic bottle that once housed my VG (I get the humco brand from walmart)

For the longest time I vaped 50/50. I couldn't vape high VG, because it made me cough. Suddenly I could no longer vape anything with more VG than 10% without coughing badly. That lasted a few months, now I'm back to 50/50 (and I haven't touched a cigarette in over 15 months). I suspect that our lungs go through varying degrees of tolerance, particularly if you are or have been a long-term smoker.

You may need to mess around with varying proportions of pg/vg to see if that helps. Like others, I also find VT nic much smoother than WL nic (I haven't tried MFS).

I go through phases where vaping makes me cough. I don't change anything. Same nic, same flavors, same everything. It always goes away. And as @Smoky Blue says, allot of dual vaper/smokers report this. I don't smoke anymore and it doesn't happen often but it does happen.

I'd wait it out a few days before spending money trying to fix it. That's just me though.

Question. With FA Vienna cream, everything I read says like 3-5% max with it. Im using it at like 10% and still dont taste much. Anyone else have that happen?

I've used it at 2% standalone, 2% and less, depending on what it's mixed with. I thought it was pretty flavorful at 2%. I do hear a few people say they like them higher, but lower works better for my taste buds.

Hey huck, thanks for dropping by. I cant find ANYTHING claiming someone had gone that high, but I guess the beauty of DIY is "to each his own." I taste it, but its not as overpowering as you'd think it would be. Of course I added that extra ~4% just now to a premixed week old batch and just mixed it with my syringe in the tank (rapidly sucking the juice in and out of the syringe works amazing) so maybe that's why. I'm suddenly finding myself liking it after a long standoff with it. It's been alone in my cupboard for a few months now lol
