Hi,

My current build I received the parts for today are:

1. Sigelei 150w Box
2. Horizon Tech Artic Tank
3. 2 x Sony 18650 2100mAh batteries

Now I've been reading about exploding and fire ridden mods. Do I have to worry since I don't use an RDA? Any other precautions? I was planning on starting at 20 W on my Box and moving up.
EDIT: I'm using a .2 ohm subtank

RDA vs Tanks is largely irrelevant. It's the ohms that matter. You're 0.2ohm coil is just as volatile as any other 0.2ohm coil that someone might throw in an RDA. Anyway, a Sig 150 will fire down to 0.1 ohms. VTC4s are great cells if you were sure to get real ones.

You should be fine.

Sony does make other models of 18650 aside from the VTC4 - do you know which ones you have, and are you sure they're authentic? If yes and VTC4, you should be fine.

Yes of course you need to worry because these kinds of mods explode sometimes.I wanna add that though it is the electronic cigarette but still it is not safe if taken in excess.

Mods don't explode without good reason. Usually it's people not understanding battery safety. The mods themselves are perfectly safe... unless you hit someone with them. The tube-style mech mods are pretty hefty.
