What's the best route to go with an RTA build? Larger diameter coils or smaller? Specifically in an orchid, goblin, or Goliath. I use 26 gauge 6 wraps of 2.4 mm that gets me about .4 ohm. However, when I let off the fire button, I continue to hear a slight sizzle for a moment. I'm unsure if this is due to the wire gauge or poor wicking. I can't seem to avoid it in rtas trying it with tight wick, looser wick, in the channels, just above the channels, etc. I'd like input from the community to try alternative means of setting rtas up. All commments are appreciated. Well, except the ones that assume I'm the rookie that I'm not. Thanks guys

I like twisted 28 in my Lemo drop running right around .9 ohms. 3mm ID, wick able to slide easily so it never chokes. I have no experience with your tanks though...

@Taver13 can answer this, I'm sure.

i depends, i have found that each of those you have mentioned require different types of builds and wicking. an orchid and a goblin are built and wicked completly different, with a goblin, i found i have to use 26 gauge and smaller, with very small diameter coils, and lower down to the deck, wicked with small tails in the channels, whereas the orchids i use very thick wire, usually 22 or 24, and raise the coils high above the deck, wicked so that the wick is just touching the deck, tucked in a little directly above the channels with no wick in the channels. i cant speak for the goliath because i have never had the pleasure to try one. i usually do a 5/64 coil in the goblin and a 3/32 in the orchid, i use nichrome so my ohms and watts wouldnt apply to you if you are using kanthal. i hope some of this helps, if you have more questions, please ask

also, using rayon to wick with helps drasticlly when it comes to tank wicking. it wicks much faster than cotton

I've been using twisted 30 gauge on the lemo at 1 ohm. The flavor is excellent. Does the twisted 28 fit in the holes?

For RTA's other than the Goblin, I use 3mm id coils with a good bit of cotton. The sizzle you hear after taking a toot is the coils cooling down with the influx of juice from the wicks. The Goblin is a PITA with larger diameter coils due to the small chamber (shorting issues), I'd stick with 2.4-2.5mm id for the Goblin.

ive actually went down even smaller so i can fit in the 26 gauge. since i normally use 22 in my rdas, i need the heat of the larger wire to get what i need from a vape these days, one of the reasons im on the fence about trading off the goblin

You could always try twisted 28 Gauge, that's what I use, works surprisingly well.

I've always only used twisted 30. Today I'll try 28. I'm still learning about wraps so it might take a couple tries. Lol

24 gauge, seven wraps, 3mm ID, dual coils, 0.3something ohms and hell of a vape. I can vape and vape and vape this at 80w without issues using 80vg liquid. It can handle up to 100w, but wicking has to be absolutely flawless. And the RTA i have is the Billow.

I don't have particular experience with your tanks, I use a kayfun v3. I know each is different, but one coil that has worked exceptionally well for me is a chimney coil build with the wick wrapped around the coil. Using 28 gauge wire wrapped around a toothpick (don't know mm) somewhere between 9 and 11 times, and placed directly over my air hole. Flavor is amazing, vapor production is good, not great. With dual air holes, it might produce something similar to a dragon coil....
just food for thought
