The Future of the Past

Late 2019 into early 2020 brought back a flood of memories for me, of 1990's music that predicted it all, using precise terms. I have always felt that artists have stronger than average antennae for currents of power and resistance, and a stronger will to protest and warn.

Late 1990's music, and earlier, had lots of these exact terms:

New World Order
-New World Order - CD by Curtis Mayfield
-The New World Order - CD by Poor Righteous Teachers
-New World Order - CD by Hypnotix
-N.W.O. - song by Ministry
-New World Order - song by Onesidezero
-New World Order - song by Steel Pulse
and many, many more

Virus - every release by Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles record label was called a "Virus":
-Nomeansno - Would We Be Alive - Virus 207
-Dead & Gone - God Loves Everyone but You - Virus 191
-Various Artists compilation - The Virus that Would Not Die - Virus 209
and so on, all of them.

and from elsewhere, other artists, songs:

and many, many more

And they continued to come, from then until now.

Back then I never knew the New World Order was anything real. I thought it represented idealism for a better, more just and peaceful world. All the while, the old folks in my family were grumbling about the United Nations, saying we'd better be careful with that shit, that our constitution had reasons for forbidding alliances with foreign countries. Then one day I heard George Bush say it. His comment was sampled on the Ministry song (was it Daddy Bush or Baby Bush?), and from that time on I noticed that all the politicians did the same things but tried to make themselves seem different from each other, "demopublicans vs. republicrats".

1999 was twenty-four years ago, but those two themes can easily be traced back to the late 1980's. "Vaccines" appearing in song and album titles came later, but not much later. However, by then the mandatory childhood vax schedule was in force for a few years already, and controversial, so that particular term/theme doesn't count as being prophetic, only as reactive.

Altogether it makes me wonder what I'm looking at now, what repeated themes and exact terms I'm listening to in music, that are telling me what the future holds 20-25 years from now. I would love to hear from other players in the thread about the current prophetic streams we are receiving from that inspired, blessed class, the artists.

This song foretold so much that I'm terrified listening to it today. It was first released by Jello Biafra with Keith Leblanc in 1984, then re-released with Ice T in 1987:

It is wildfires that are located 250 to 300 miles to the north of us, near Quebec, Canada. At least 160 separate fires are burning and many are still out-of-control. The impact for Rochester really comes down to the wind direction. A northerly wind is directing that smoke towards WNY and the smoky concentration is not just in the upper atmosphere, but also in the lower layers of the atmosphere. I think Quebec Fires are the ones that are affecting US air.

Maybe, but they don't all start at exactly the same time, as in this instance this year.

The so called BLM people (Antifa) were doing the same thing to the west coast forests in 2020, would get caught, arrested, charge with arson, be released by the captured judges, go out and do it again, get caught again, and so on, and on, and on.

Sorry, and done arguing. I've long believed it's only worth arguing, and trying to bring people around, if it can change anything. And I can't change what's going on in the beautiful Canadian forests, nor what the people in nearby US states are suffering because of it.
