I, and another glass drip tip maker had our accounts on Etsy suspended yesterday. The reason cited was e-cigs and e-vaporizers are "drug paraphernalia". Any accessories for e-cigs, etc. will be looked at the same way and the shop owners will get their accounts suspended also. I'm not happy about this to say the least as someone most likely reported our shops. You can go through that site and there are thousands of results for actual drug paraphernalia, but they won't be hearing that from me.

I tried to find this in their policies and came up empty, and AFAIK neither e-cigs or accessories are illegal in any of the 50 states and most countries. I guess it's a secret policy? So beware if you have a shop there or buy from there, your favorite seller might just disappear or your shop might just be suspended one day.

lol A fine analogy. I know it's not just me, it just seems so arbitrary, the way they do things.

etsy is focused on handmade, vintage items, crafts, knick knacks, toys and the like...
selling your e-cig stuff on a marketplace like that was a fail attempt to begin with...
it also shows you know nothing about marketing or marketing strategies, or placing your business in a
position of strength ..you lost, shut up, learn from your ineptness and move on

It's just really sad that people and corporations don't understand the life saving potential of vapor products. Even sadder, the fact that they are so adamant about disassociating themselves with it. If analysts are correct, in the next 10 years vaping will be more popular than smoking and be a higher valued industry than analog tobacco. What will they say when it all comes out that they are safe? What will they say when they realize they seriously save lives? What will they say when nobody in a 100+ billion dollar industry (granted the FDA doesn't crush it) will do business with them because they shunned us before they had the facts?

Well, thanks for that @Valkyrie. It really wasn't all about me but thanks again for your insight. My point was the usual selling venues are shutting down vaping related things. As demonstrated by @Chris it's not just those sites, it's a money trail. Other credit card processors have shut down sites with better marketing skills than I'll ever have. I'm sure at the end of it all you can be that guy telling everyone to shut up and move on. I'm sure it won't affect you.

ya know what, a lot of people make very nice handmade vaping related items....drip tips, lanyards, bling, mod holders, etc.
etsy seems like a perfect place to me for that stuff. you were rather harsh IMO. shame on you.gif

so you think i was harsh...business is harsh...
if you have a vaping product, etsy isnt were you need to be...
you place your product where vapers will see it, etsy isnt that place...
lets use the mxrijuana industry as a model for a second...
its legal in 2 states, its medically legal in 37 states, but you cant get a bank account thats federally insured in the name of that business...
so now back to etsy...its governed by who processes the accounts, if that visa, mastercard processor is opposed to ecigs for whatever reason
you are bound to go with their politics
to be successful in a business today you have to research your placement
i applaud the young ladies desire to get here product to us, but, in todays world you have to be vicious and cutthroat and align youself in a position that is strong...

she would be much better off talking to the plethera of vendors on this site to get their insight and possibly one of them would take her stuff on consignment and the majority of us would be exposed to it

i suppose i did come off as an asshat, i apologize for that but i still believe that in order to get a foothold in a fledgeling business you have to do your homework in order for it to flourish

So, only the strong survive eh?

No wonder the corporations are running the world.

I make some really good all-natural superhot sauces, the kind of stuff that in 2008-2009, Amerika hadn't even seen yet. Blokes in the UK and AU were DIY their sauces and having great success.

I looked into making it available in small batches. Even though I'm capable of safely bottling and labeling product and building my own website and such to sell it, the amount of permit red tape, kitchen rental and pure investment involved was wayyyy beyond what any normal person could do. Much less so a guy on SSI. So, it never happened.

Yay for Capitalism.

I'm just happy he choose to apologize for being an asshat. Doesn't happen often so to me it's worth recognizing.

@Valkyrie This may be only one of many many places that she sells her goods. You don't know any different!? There was no need to come after her business strategy, because she never disclosed her business strategy for you to call out. She just warned us that one particular site became a problem for her. That's all!!! A simple, thanks for informing me would have sufficed.

I never said I did. The Declaration of Independence did.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life,_Liberty_and_the_pursuit_of_Happiness

I said that with all of the regulation and strictures put on even attempting getting a home-based small business going, how much chance do people have?
You think I enjoy living on $741 for the rest of my life ya fucking elitist prick? I had something to offer the world, guess what, now the world won't get it because I cannot afford to even try to start a business. . Congratulations. You are a Dick.

I bet you had a good job before having a business, right?

KARMA BUDDY,,,,,,,,,,KARMA,,,,,,,

You should be careful what you say. You would be surprised on how fast your life can change. Just as fast as snapping your fingers. And you know what you will be on the outside of your house looking in!

Don't tell me you are about mid to late 20's I am guessing. Had mom and dad pay your way through college and never worked until you got out of college and daddy's friend hired you right?
