What's the deal with ECF forums?

Been in there for over a year. Always respectful, always touting the benefits of ecigs. I'm 53, Canadian, and pretty darn mellow. All the sudden I get a Your account has been temporarily deactivated while your status is resolved. I tried to talk to a mod, and was told in a private msg to contact a certain email. I don't even understand what I did wrong, and don't know why I even have to do that. Has anyone else experienced weird shit like this?

How often do you post, they like to dump members if they don't make post quota, OR it may have something to do with the fact they are changing forum software so they can be more like us and hit a glitch yea.....maybe its that.......

I post in there lots, fairly heavy enough poster to get senior member status. All the sudden I'm an issue and my status is suspended.... just weird. I'm very friendly, don't diss ppl ect, I don't understand.

Welcome to VU! Can't say why ECF gave you the boot, it's happened to many of us, though I left voluntarily almost a year ago after finding this forum a bit better suited to my personality...

Seriously, the other day, I was perusing an ECF thread in which someone wanted to link to one of my vape videos. Instead of just linking to it, the poster wrote "Just google for this Dailymotion video - I don't know if it's okay to post here."

Haven't been banned, just stopped using it since their attitude and over moderation annoys me.

This is the first vaping forum i ever used. Searched online something about sx mini m class and it threw me to a thread here. Dont plan on looking elsewhere.
i gained experience by myself in vaping. Then i got online and learned more through youtube.
i think this forum will be responsible for my venturing into diy. Juice in medellin is way too thin for my liking. i take a dvantage when im in miami to buy juice. And ill probly have to sell my first born in order to keep buying juice froM Vaporshark. 22 smackers for 30ml is craaaaaaazy.

Do what I did, go DiY. I can make fantastic mixes for under $3can a 30ml bottle. You'll have to invest a bit to start, but it's so worth it.

I kept emailing their admins and asking what I did. Apparently I said something that led them to believe I'm a supplier. I'm on a friggin fixed income, that would be kind of hard. Finally set them straight, I'm allowed back in. But not sure after over a year I get booted just like that, and now it's okay, even though you didn't do anything, we booted you, and now you can come back in like nothing happened.... eh....

martinelias, you can also go the ethyl alcohol based flavor route. They are easy to obtain. You just have to subtract the percentage from your vg....

I can honestly say that I thought it would take years before we beat out ECF in terms activity but right now we are matching or exceeding them every hour of the day. Sometimes we beat them so bad I wonder if some sort of major problem happened.

I think their biggest problem is zero comradery. Its so censored that a joke can't stay up long enough to be shared and an argument never has the chance to finish.
Between that and the cliques.
Thus group is the best because they use "X" everyone else sucks.
Just gets old beyond old. The biggest difference I noticed here VS there, when a new vapor comes in and asks a question, they get an honest answer on what to do and how to do it safely.
No matter what person can't stand the other, they agree on what's important. And leave the tool measuring somewhere else. There they need all their buddies to blow up a thread; all the while the noob is trying to figure out why his mod is stuck in the ceiling after the battery vented.

There are groups on there who don't have the ability to have a discussion, take a joke, or who are offended by women far better looking than they are, so they just report posts. Eventually a dullard of a mod will delete posts and warn/ban the poster...

With the new forum software, one can see the number of search engine bots on the site. There have been times when they outnumber those viewing threads. They basically are 'employed' to copy content from the site and put it in a search engine- like Google, which drives traffic and revenue through advertisements.
The site has little to do with being a vaping community, as much as it is a business which uses a vaping community to make money...
While most forums 'employ' bots, I've never seen so many as ECF uses...

ECF seems to be up and running for me but I hear a lot of users were lost in he transfer for some reason. Maybe a database issue.

They do get out of control with all the rules and over moderation. My philosophy is always to treat people the way you would like to be treated and have friends instead of enemies. Even if the forum allows cursing etc etc I try to keep it clean. Although I thoroughly enjoy some of the off the hook threads and postings. I really like this forum as well as 1 other one. Lot's of good down to earth people.
