Need Advice

Hi guys.

I'm looking to order my first vape in hopes of quitting smoking and after several hours of googling and watching youtube vids in the vape-jungle, I've come to the conclusion that the Vision iNow Sub Ohm might suit me.

However I now have questions about which tank(s) to order along with it, cause the battery has a constant 40W output..
But on something like the Kanger Sub-tank it says this: '1 x OCC: 0.5 Sub Ohm / Range 15 - 30 W' so is the battery 10watts too powerful for this tank?

The battery is listed as running down to 0.25ohms, but on a tank like Horizon Arctic this is listed as a guideline: 'BTC 0.2ohms works best from 20W til 50W' - so can this battery run 0,2 after all or?

So confusing, hope you can help =)

Personally, I'd recommend something with variable wattage. You can get a KBox 40 for under $20 here: http://101vape.com/variable-voltagewattage-devices/634-black-kanger-kbox-40-watt-18650-mod.html
I have one, and very happy with it. Only downside is you'll need to buy an 18650 battery and charger for it since it doesn't have a pass thru.

Hey I have an istick50 and it is simple to use long battery life and it's a pass through .no extra batteries or chargers to buy for is a contained unit.Hope this helps and vape on friend

Yea for a brief period I also thought about buying something like the IPV4 which has "everything" - the problem is that I'm really most attracted to the 'stick type' batteries. Then I can always switch to a more pro box mod later on, if my vaping needs and nerdiness grows to exceed my needs of something that sits well in my pocket/hand.
I tried a normal ego-type or whatever thin stick - but that having to inhale straight to the lunges for 7 secs just to get a remotely decent hit doesn't work for me. That's why I switched my search to the SubΩ stick batteries and found this iNow looking promising.

That doesn't look too bad, but still 40 watts as an arbitrary set output is kind of odd...though Vision does make a generally respected product. Have you looked at the Aspire tube batteries? I have heard of people using them with some success, and they've got a VV option...

The iSticks definitely look like genuine products, but to be honest the shape will annoy me. Thanks for your suggestions tho.. always more valuable to me what ppl have tried and tested than companies 'sales talk'.

I was also checking out the Aspire CF SubΩ tube - looks good too, but very similar to the Vision iNow I think, so I just decided to go for the newest product.



Which brings me back to my original questions:

Which tanks/coils can I (safely) use with the Vision iNow?
Basically looking for one with good airflow for direct lung hits like the Horizon Arctic..and 1 that's more closed for mouth to lung hits like maybe the Kanger Mini..
But I'm confused about the listed wattages and ohms..
Can I use these 2 specific tanks with the iNow battery?
Can I use 0,2 coils altho the battery is listed as minimum 0,25? Vision's own sub-tank Vision MK is a 0,2
What about other tanks listed as up to 30watt? Pretty sure I've seen videos of ppl using tanks like the Aspire Atlantis with way higher wattages.

The Arctic will work at 40 watts, the Subtank won't - too much power for even the 0.5 ohm stock coils. None of the mouth-to-lung style tanks will work at 40 watts, you'll burn your juice. If you're even looking at that kind of vaping mixed with big cloud vaping, you really need something with adjustable wattage/voltage, because the two different styles of use require vastly different power levels.

A good mod with a 0.25 ohm limit will refuse to fire a 0.20 ohm coil - a lousy or defective one will fire a coil that's too low for its safety limits until it catches fire or blows up.

Did you read the reviews for that link you posted? They were not good. Something similar would be the 50 watt aspire sub ohm battery. You do need a specific charger with it. Thanks a lot.. I guess I'll need a different device or 2 seperate stick type batteries. One for mouth to lung and one for direct lung.

Not looking to spend more than maybe 300$ right now.. I can always expand my gear later.

Hmm that Maxx actually looks a lot better than the iNow. Thanks for the link, but as you might have expected from my weird english, I live in a small country far away from the US. Just figured you guys were more knowledgeable and experienced than locally and that has definitely proven to be the case.

Guess I would be able to experiment with several different tanks on this Maxx then?.. as long as the coils are between 0.3 - 5Ω

I can see that the Maxx is a bit of a lightsaber tho... (which is what I would prefer at home)

So might also have to buy something like an iStick and a Kanger Nano if I have to go somewhere and bring a vape in just my jeans pocket etc.

I have to agree. Besides you could have a KBox with batteries and a charger for around $60 USD if you look around on the internet. I bought my KBox for less than $18 shipped. The KBox is built like a tank, and is capable of sub ohming if you want to go that route. Hard to beat in my opinion.

If you by quality mean flavourwise I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 7/10 and a 10/10 anyway since I've never vaped before ...and (altho all subjective ofc) it's my understanding from watching hours of review videos that it comes more down to choice of tank than choice of battery?

Maybe I could get used to something like iStick50 or Subox with the rounded edges in the long run. Maybe I'll even grow to find it awesome with the diverse options and LED screen of a more serious boxmod, after all there's a little gadget freak in most guys .... but at this moment I'm just way more attracted to the stick shaped ones, and I think every little bit of positivity counts in order to ditch the cigarettes for good. If I'm slightly annoyed at this "ugly and annoying to handle" box from the beginning, I've set myself up for a bad start at transitioning away from the cigs.

300$ is what I would save monthly on cigarettes (not cheap in my country).. so there's room for trying new gear at some point if my preferences change.

And thanks! My health is the reason for this, but I guess it is for everyone.

Just going to throw it out there but instead of the vision. I think you would be much happier with a iStick 30 and a subtank mini or nano. The iStick 30 is tiny and fits in your hand even better then a stick battery. I used ego twist and vision spinner stick batteries for 2 years before buying the original iStick.

Well I went with the CF Maxx noob (Elite) kit... Also bought some extra 0.5Ωcoils, but now I feel that was a bad buy if this highly illogical chart of suggested wattage from the Atlantis 2 sites is correct:
Sub-ohm coils:
0.3 ohm (70-80 watt)
0.5 ohm (20-30 watt)
1.0 ohm (40-50 watt)

Not sure why this doesn't just gradually match each other. Tried both the 0.3 and 1.0 now and prefer the 1.0 on 40-50w depending on flavour, and the 0.3 at 50w - can't imagine any kind of 20w vape will be satisfying, but the coil might totally change that.. who knows.. Haven't had Ohm's law physics since grade school

But to answer your question I love it! Took a day to not cough a bit tho.. kinda had to get used to it like when I started with cigarettes.
Haven't smoked a cigarette since I got the vape 3 days ago, and have only had sporadic urges to light one, which quickly fade after a few tokes on the vape.
These heavy direct lung hits both satisfy my 30 cigarettes a day habit and my 10yr bong habit from my youth, so in a way it's more satisfying that cigarettes.. I can definitely see myself never smoking cigarettes again.

Burning through battery and juice a bit fast tho (especially on the 0.3Ωcoil) - so yesterday I ordered a lot of gear and ingredients for mixing my own juice.

Well, still vaping now about 3months in.

Just wanted to update my thread for all you ppl who suggested the iSticks - you were right, and maybe I should have listened more to you guys and went for one instead of the CF Maxx
Bought an iStick 50w for my female sidekick and I gotta say it kiiinda performs better than my lightsabre when both are set to the same wattage. The Aspire Mega tank I got with my kit is pretty awesome tho, so money not entirely wasted.

Now I'll go search the forum for advice about RDAs and bigger box mods. Cause the ramp time and vapour production of 50w is a bit on the low side.
