Never seen this before, out of couple dozen batteries this is the only one with this. Charges and discharges fine, no raised temps, meters exactly the same as othet cells, just looks weird.

Any ideas?

Looks like a pipe bomb waiting to happen, to me.

The new Sony VTC Leopard series.

I would sacrifice that one cell and rip the cover off it...To me it looks like hot spots or possibly tiny pin holes where it couldve vented through the case.

Very weird. I've never seen that before. can you take a pic in better lighting? Are the spots all over it?

Maybe it has gotten wet? Clean a rda and replace your cell?

I used to use my VTC5s in my Reos, and every one ended up looking like that. When I rewrapped them it was obvious it was from liquid outside, not inside. There was a long thread over at the other place about this, but it apparently does not come from the batteries themselves.

The wrapper is not tight on the battery. What you see is air pockets underneath the wrapper.

The phone has a hard time to focus on it for some reason. Yeah it does seem wet inside. You can see in the pic where on the positive end it starts normal color then it darkens and that more opaque green is like a giant spot with those dots throughout the center in no apparent order. I dont think its venting as it wouldnt make sense to vent there plus thats one of four batteries used exclusively on the hexohm v2 which i dont even super sub ohm on plus why would it only happen to that one?
Ive read on other sites that its condensation trapped in the wrapper possibly from going in the cold then in the hot climate which kinda makes sense since im a butcher and spend a good amount of my workdays in a refrigerated cutting room and i do take the hexohm to work.
Just thought it was interesting since its never happened before. Ill try to take better pics when i get back home.
You guys think its worth keeping or should i use benefit of doubt and toss it?

I think all of us with VTC5s had that problem - I actually wouldn't toss these.

Whoa. Could it be that some juice got in there? That's definitely strange...

Definitely think it has gotten wet. I can't explain why it's just that one, and honestly, I have spots and streaks on my vct4s, I still use them without issue. Could be a juice Leak over top that battery (positioned under rda?) mine started doing something similar when I would clean my rda or tank and swap cells with damp hands. Condensation is also probable but I'd assume if it was that itd be on more than one battery, assuming it's married...

You can also see in the pic it's darker in that area, which leads me to believe the battery wrap wasn't equally shrunk throughout the battery...

The 4 vtc4s i usr for hexohm v2 are 2 married sets. Because of the design and how the battery contacts are set i highly doubt it was a juice dripping situation but something you said did strike an idea.
I figure it can be one of two things; either the battery was not wrapped properly or i handled it with wet hands.
I decided to keep using it, as it is only about a month old and other than aesthetics, it is exactly the same as the others in performance. The cells all charge at the same time, discharge evenly and shows no signs of overheating.

There's a horizontal line 180 degrees near the bottom witch I believe was where it wasn't fully shrink wrapped. Could be a combination of both? I frequently get e liquid on my hands when I change batteries, I primarily use an rda and it's not always empty when I swap cells so it sometimes leaks on me. Then when battery is in use it heats up and leaves the black residue (spots in your case) as it heats until the liquid evaporates, eventually.
Does it get hotter than other cells, in operation? If not, based on what you said about it performing like the others, I say use it.

No it doesn't what? Heat up any more than other cells or have the darker area with the line across the top/bottom where the dots are? From the pictures it looks like 90%of the battery excluding the top and bottom are slightly darker where the spots are than the top and bottom of the cell.
I'd say keep on using it though, I've seen similar things happen after getting eliquid or using damp hands to change cells. Just continue to keep an eye on it...
