Hi guys should receive my kayfun v4 today cant wait!
Trying to decide what build im gona do so was curious on what builds you guys are doing?
Im thinking dual coil but i see that you shouldn't go below 1ohm with out the s kit so if i build a dual coil at say 1.2ohm but that is half to ,6 ohm will that be ok for it or should i build dual to 2ohm and half at 1ohm? Bit confused on this one lol

If you go under an ohm without the s kit you are going to have issues..

I'd stay above an ohm. If you want to run dual coils then I'd build each one at 2ohm's MINIMUM but maybe 2.1 or 2.2 to stay on the safe side..

I mean you can run a Kayfun under an ohm but I'd only do it on a regulated device with temp control and ni wire to be safe.. If you let the coil get too hot, you can damage the insulation and once they melt, they are a serious pain to get off to replace..

I don't do dual coils so I can't help you there. Try both and see what works best for you..

The Kayfun V4 is really a single coil device, since it runs best around 1.2 - 1.6 ohms or so. I use 26 gauge wire on a 2.5mm rod to end up around 1.2 ohms or so.

Edit: wont 2mm rod give better flavour due to the density

I would never put a dual build in my V4. It's just not designed for that, and you don't get enough benefit from it to make it worth the trouble. As Amanda said 1.2-1.5 is the sweet spot for the Kayfun. I have done a nickel build at about .1 or .2 with temperature control that works, but is a pain to build and get it right.

I use 26 or 28 kanthal 5-8 wraps (micro). I use 28g nickel with about 8-9 spaced wraps, but it's a tight fit.

I have a couple with nickel builds too! They do seem to work well, and strangely enough you need less wraps to get to temp. I did buy the subohm kits, because one of my insulators looked as if was melting, but I've only installed one so far (in one with a nickel build).

Jason, forget the dual coil build. If you want dual coils get a billow perhaps. You can use 28 gauge fine also!

Agree!

Right now I am running 2 different Kayfun's. A Lite with a nano tank @ 1.2 single coil with 28g Kanthal and a Monster V2 @ .5 single coil with 24g Anarchist wire.

I'd never do a dual coil on a KF but some people do...

Ok cheers guys il take the advice and do a single coil il probably try 2mm maybe 2.4mm
No one said if it will wick 70 vg or not as i got tons of 70vg made up if not il have to finish that with my subtank lol
Will be trying a build soon been waiting for it to dry after giving the tank a soak in hot water lol

Are you vaping it on a regulated device? If so, how many watts?

Humm... I vape a 1.4 at about 10-12W.

Sounds like you might have a build issue..

Have you built Kayfun's before?

Im running a 28ga 2.5mm coil with 7 wraps at 1.1 ohms at 15watts on a regulated mod
And it has serious flavor the tank doesnt seem to be getting to hot
I would never do a dual coil just to much trouble for the little extra you would get

The Kayfun's are easy to build but they a finicky when it comes to amount of cotton used. If you are not familiar with building on them I'd suggest watching a few youtube videos.. Once you get it nailed down, they are really simple after that.

A few tips are don't stuff the cotton down in the chamber and after the cotton is in the chambers, juice it up then use something like a syringe tip to move to cotton away from the chamber walls thus leaving the juice channels clear..

Jason, if you're getting a harsh taste in the Kayfun as well, you might need to lower your nic. The Kayfun V4 is a very gentle vape. If you don't have enough wick you'll burn the kanthal, so make sure you have enough wick that it's touching the coil when it's wet.

On second thoughts, you should also check for hot spots!

Yea checked for hot spots just that i seem to be getting more taste in my subtank mini :/
Edit: also im on 3mg nic maybe its cuz im vaping high vg? Just tryed my other test mixes i done from capella and t juice and there smooth with fairly decent taste no harshness im gona go back to sub tank i like the lung hitting now but only other thing i can think of is that i have over flavoured the others,
Next step is to order more flavours to make some of hic recipes see how that goes and suggestions on some good strawberry or banana recipes he have would be great?

Don't give up!

What are you still having issues with? I vape a 80VG / 20PG juice and have no wicking issues..

I don't think it's the high VG..

A lot of people have build issues on Kayfun's at 1st but once you get it dialed in, it's very easy to repeat after that.

Flavor from that Kayfun should demolish the flavor you get from a Subtank IMO. I have a Subtank and hardly ever use it because the flavor on them is muted, even when using the RBA..

Can you maybe post photos of the builds with and without cotton?

As a last resort and before completely giving up do you have a local vape shop that can slap a build on it for you?

Your build looks fine to me..

One other thing to try and it's what I did on my KF 4 is don't screw the Congestion ring on.. You can't do this on the older KF but you can on the V4. I found feeding to work better with it off..

What's the Congestion Ring you ask? It's #25 in this diagram.

Wont that flood it though and doesn't that help keep the wick down? Guess il keep playing around but im gona send it back tomorrow and get another as the pin wont screw in bleeding clones lol! I may even treat myself to a lemo2 aswel or even a dripper! Aint tryed dripping yet lol

No it won't flood.. You can't do that on the older KF but you can do it on the V4.. When I had my V4 I ran it 24/7 with that ring off..

Juice up the wick with it on so the cotton ends stay in place then remove it and screw the base into the rest of the KF..

I always remove the little airflow control screw completely.
Look at this guys my first twist coil 32 gauge (i think) 6 spaced wraps 2mm 1,5ohm and its vaping like a champ on the subtank mini
