little help with flavour

so ive been mixing for a short while now. when i first started i had read that 15 to 20 percent flavour was a good start. but now im reading a lot of recipes and it seems like a lot of fellow vapers are mixing with a lot less. more like 5 to 10 percent. I also read some where if you use to much flavor, it tends to make it less flavorful????????? that just doesnt make sense to me. Is it true? What i mix is just sub par. I dont have the time to play around with this stuff like i used to. I know trial and error is a big part though. Any advice. thankyou so much in advance!!!

It's true for some manufactures flavors. Some do need a higher percentage but I try and steer clear of those. What brand are you using? Which flavors? We need to know a little more to help out.

Definitely depends on flavor/manufacture. But yes some (for example FA espresso) are strong at 1%. Too much flavoring CAN give you vapors tongue, like overloading your tastebuds...

my last batch of flavors was from wizard labs.....tooti fruity, rasberry, sweet cream, lemon.lime, blueberry. I also have some flavors from tfa which i think i like better. For the wizard labs, i tried making a rasberry cream. 15 percent rasberry and 5 percent sweet cream. Tasted horrible

Im no mixing pro…. But I think your levels are really high…

I don't use that brand of flavors though. So I guess I'm not much of a help.

try to make each flavor like: 2,4,6,8%
then.. blend those together..
figure out if you want a dominant one.. which one is it to be?

but find your spot with each flavor first.. ;)

If you check on the labels of those bottles, you'll see that they're either TFA or Lorann, they don't make their own flavorings per se. That should make it easier to find beginning percentages.

so with tfa, just using one flavor, what percentage would u guys go with on average?

I start with 5% - 8% for TFA flavors.

When I first started DIYing, I was mixing single TFA flavors at 12%-15%. They tasted okay for the most part, but they also seemed "heavy" to me. I started reducing the percentages. At first, I thought they were too weak. I kept vaping at the lower levels, and my taste buds seemed to have acclimated to them. The flavor is just as strong to me now at 5% as it was months ago at 12%.

TFA percentages are all over the place. No set "rule of thumb"
Flavor Percentage Spreadsheet
This has become a handy tool for me. Select your manufacture at the top ("Perfumer's App" in your case), flavors on the left, yellow column is the average STANDALONE percentage of the people who submitted their sweet spot to the right.

Raspberry, Cherry, and Strawberry are all nasty to me, but some really like them...
Try 5% or less.

Try this one out
Blueberry 10%
Sweet Cream 3%

Also add in 2-3% Vanilla Swirl if you got any...

Same same. The Flavor Apprentice is a division of The Perfumers Apprentice.
