Difference in regulated/unregulated

what is the reason people actually use unregulated mods? I have them but don't understand why you would prefer one over adjustable and regulated mods?

Back not too long ago you could only get about 11-15 watts max out of a regulated mod. That was not enough power for people that were sub-ohming. Fast forward to now, regulated mods can now supply 200+ watts. So imo the only reason to go mech now is because of the simplicity, no chip to fry, theoretically should last longer. That all being said, I'm a regulated man

I agree, and have for quite a while. It's good to have a mech in case of EM attack but regulated is safer and consistent (my main problem with mechs). Given some of the prices for high end mechs vs low end regulated it's just as affordable.

^ This. Plus, if the day comes where the govt shuts down the ecig industry, my mechs will last, whereas my regulated mods may eventually stop working. I think of them as a safety net.

Also flat line power, but that doesn't seem to be as much of an issue now at least with the high power regulateds I've got.

So I guess this goes back to my previous thread, so I could actually cry my chip vaping my dna40 on 40 watts? it all makes sense I guess since mech mods are pretty much fail proof.

Unless something shorts or a button get stuck or the user doesn't know what they're doing and the battery goes into thermal overload.
With a chip it should sense the fault and not fire. A chip should work at what it's rated for, but if you drop it one too many times boards break, connections come apart, buttons have a lifespan.

Myself, I am a long time fan of the regulated mods.

Especially the new breed with all of the features where you can customize the device with a display for either right or left hand use, stealth mode and of course performance monitors, (short, low resistance, battery power indicator, resistance check to give you an indication on the condition of your coil and voltage applied to coil.

Then you have your protections like reverse polarity (putting the battery in upside down) and dead shorts.

And a lot of the newer chips have high temp protection for the boards themselves to keep them from frying.

As far a worrying about your chip frying because you use it at the highest setting?

I would suggest you find something really worth worrying about.

Like how many licks does it take to get to the center of your Tootsie Pop

I was at work a few weeks back on the third floor of an apartment building. As I exited a suite to the outdoor hallway, I fumbled my smpl/Marquis. It hit the concrete hallway floor, rolled over the edge, and landed on the concrete 3 floors below.

I went to down to collect it only to find that the removable top had popped off. I wiped it off, popped the top back on, and vaped away. No damage.

With that said, I have a Sir Lancelot as well, and even a short drop on a hard surface with the switch unlocked has the potential to cave the top of the battery in.

Either way though, they're far more rugged than regulated mods. They don't suffer from liquid damage either, which is a plus.

Also a single 18650 tube mod is easier to pocket, and usually more elegant looking for anyone concerned about such things.

Definitely true about reliability but I just find the flavor to change so much dripping on them since you can't regulate power. Hell even on regulated mods dripping doesn't taste great. I love tanks but I get bored with them. It wasn't until I got this DNA 40 with temperature control on the nickel wire that I've ever been able to drip and actually taste the flavor for what it is.
