Flavour Art and Capella flavoring necessities

Hey everyone me and my husband are new to DIY ejuice and we have begun to favor Capella and flavour art flavorings. We are wondering what in everyone's opinion are the necessary flavorings to have from these to vendors. We love sweet strong flavors and sweet coffee flavors, but can't seem to figure out what flavors or recipes work best to acheive this.
So far we have double chocolate, French vanilla, marshmallow, graham cracker, vanilla custard, peanut butter, banana, sugar cookie and cake batter from capella.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

While I do not personally have much from Capella, and not a one of those flavors ATM....
I can still welcome you, and assure you somebody else that does have those will be along shortly !

That question is HUGE. If you could come over to the house for a few hours a day for a few days we can start to figure this out. Its a long journey and no quick answers unfortunatly.

Although I have over 100 different Flavor apprentice flavors, I only use a handfull. I use mostly FA and I use just a handfull of Capella.

Cappella Sweet Strawberry is a must have. If you liike Vanilla custard and dont mind the "bad stuff" in it, nobody has a better tasting Van Custard than Cappella. I cant vape it myself.

I think you need to buy the entire FA line up that sounds good to you..... OR..... pinpoint what you really want to vape exactly and go from there. FA is absolutely killer to me. The fruits are spectacular.

Im rambling right now and you will get many answers/opinions, but again, you need to pinpoint what you want to taste in your vape and many folks here can point you towards the right direction.

I would probably go and read the entire FA thread and by the time you read it all, you will have many ideas and recipies you will want to try. Same with the Capps

Wow, great minds think alike! :D :D :D
I started a couple of threads on the same exact subject. Try reading these for a lot of good information:
I'll be starting another one for Flavourart soon.
Read this, looks at recipes that you would like to try. Buy your flavors based on recipes that appeal to you.

With what you have I would definitely try this
Peanut butter around 4%
Bannana 6%
Vanilla Custard 6%
Cake Batter 1%
Marshmellow 2%

Listen to all the above advice, but make sure you get FA Espresso. It's the best coffee flavor going. 2% on its own is delicious and there's no end to yummy coffee variants you can make with it. FA Espresso is my "desert island" flavor. I'd take that and The White Album.

Thanks for all your input we both greatly appreciate it. I'm nervous to use any flavor apprentice flavorings because we bought quite a few before and everything turned out horrible. Our biggest problem is getting sweet flavors and no dry hit like we have been, but it is a work in progress as you stated.

And FA tiramisu. But eventually you will get all the FA flavors so second that. Get 30 ml bottles of vienna cream, if you are like me with that stuff.
Quick question is the Vienna cream sweet at all?

Vienna Cream is incredibly sweet IMO. I use it in small quantities because the sweetness can easily overpower anything it goes in. It also has maybe some caramel and vanilla notes in there. This is just what I pick up on when I vape it. It's a great flavor to help smooth things out, but I definitely don't get cream from this one. I just get sweetness. I mix it up with FA Fresh Cream for more of a true cream flavor base. I love desert vapes and sweetened fruit type vapes, but this is the first flavor I ever came across where I thought it was just too sweet....this has just been my experience. It's a great flavor to have in your collection because it does a very good job blending flavors together.

Also look at FA Joy, it's my goto sweetener now. I find FA meringue to be a little sweeter than Vienna cream, but they both really must haves from the FA flavors.

Dry hits are usually related to poor wicking, high VG, stock cheapo coils/heads, etc.
Generally not the flavorings causing it.
Getting all your vape gear fine tuned first will make a big difference in the flavor also.
But, some flavors are just plain nasty .
You can get a bit of sweetness from adding small amounts of TFA Brown Sugar, TFA/CAP Sweet Cream, FA Meringue (has Citrus notes), or most any Marshmallow (.25% to 3% usually).
BTW welcome to the adventure:D.

About adding sweetness and asking about vienna cream. Vienna cream isn't for sweetness although it may help, some. What others said is better about adding or adjusting for taste.

Vienna Cream is incredibly sweet IMO.

As we all know taste is subjective. I don't find it sweet but delightfully good. I may really bad sweet tooth, though, as I use it in almost every recipe I create. It is also in many, many of Hic's recipes. That is one you have to get if you ever want to copy other's recipes. I also recommend TFA Brown Sugar as you will not get that taste from anything else.

Regarding your sweetness and bad recipes you made using TFA. I had never used it before until TFA Honeydew and Pear. The internet says 5% or 8%, etc. I tried Honeydew at 4 or 5, yuck. I tried TFA Pear at 1% after that catastrophe. It was perfect. So the moral is maybe you need a total percentage for your mixes in the <8% range for multiple flavors and even less if there are only a couple of flavors. You may have super tongue sensors.

I've never mixed Vienna Cream higher than 2% in any mixture I've made with it. I have one recipe that I just made today where I mixed Vienna Cream at 2% with 1% FA Fresh Cream and 3% Coconut. I also added 0.5% Almond to the mix to try to get a nice cream base. It came out really, really sweet. It'll make your teeth hurt, it's that sweet. Usually in most of my mixes I stay at 1% or lower. Don't get me wrong, I do love it as a blender for things and I use it as well as some of the others that have been mentioned already as sweeteners for mixes. I don't like Sucralose or Brown Sugar Extra. When I first started DIY I mixed up some recipes that called for these so I purchased them and couldn't figure out why all my mixes were tasting bad, but eventually found that it was due to these two ingredients. Since I've stopped mixing them in anything, all my recipes come out fine. Again, these are just my opinions. Welcome to DIY it is a lot of fun. Don't be afraid to play around to find out what you like and then come tell us :)

@HusbanAndWfe2013 My suggestion is to go on the http://mamajsflavorshop.com/ and buy 3 mL sample sizes of the flavorings. You will not know what you like until you try them. Many of the flavors that are mentioned are not necessarily used as a main ingredient but used as a complement. They provide depth to the mix. I started with 11 flavors. Now I have almost all of the FA flavors. Some I use a lot. Some I use rarely but they are all used to some extent.

Flavor Apprentice is the same. Mama's does not sell TFA. One of the best flavors I recently tried from them is Vanilla Swirl. I like vanilla bases and creams in different things. It works rather well and tastes good. Also, many recipes you find have it. Here is a link if you want to see which ones have the bad stuff in them. http://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/specsheetlist.aspx I stay away from the bad stuff.

Remember, taste is subjective.

Good luck with your mixing.

Can't seem to get a feel for tfa. Everything we mixed smelled chemically and tasted horrible even after steeping. Capella is doing better for us but still need something more. We are both holding that flavorart will be as amazing as the reviews say.

You can make great coffee vapes with those~!

1.5% FA espresso
1% Vienna cream
0.5% butterscotch

would be a yummy, simple place to start if it sounds good to you. If it looks like it's not enough flavoring, wait until you taste it. 2% Espresso all on its own is very flavorful. And it's pretty much shake & vape--doesn't require much time to settle.

You could add to this (or sub for the butterscotch) a small amount of Caramel (0.5%) and/or Maple or Nut Mix (i'd suggest either of those at 0.25%).

There are lots of other good FA coffee mixes around here. If you like those, definitely consider getting Tiramisu, too. You're going t have fun :)

Start small with percents. FA doesn't need much. Review some of Hic's recipes to get a feel of where to start. Concerning TFA, I need much less than people post online. Don't give up on them. Maybe you are just using too much. Like I said earlier, someone posted 5% for TFA Pear. One percent was plenty for me in a mix with FA Peach. Most of my FA mixes don't go past 8%. I got this from Hic. I use even less, now that I have gotten used to the flavors, how they blend, etc. This affected me with TFA. I believe this is why I cannot use them at the same "high" percents that others post. My son loves the strength of my juice so I know they are not weak. Blending two together works well, too. Vanilla swirl and Vanilla classic or Tahiti, etc. I am doing some mixing tomorrow for stuff I have never tried. Should be delicious.

I look forward to hearing about your experiences.

Have fun.

You can add 0.5% meringue if it isn't sweet enough for you.

You can also make Hic's Caramel eggnog, which I always have, and Caramel butterscotch delight. Both are great, imo. I always make them stronger but try them at normal first.

oh boy, more cookies! I'm on kind of a cookie kick now and I like the looks especially of that second one--the nutty one. I'd have to take the nut mix down to 0.25% to start because i seem to be really sensitive to it. Or maybe I will try it with Walnut, too come to think of it. Thanks!

@lirruping I actually use walnut for this and would maybe decrease the caramel and butterscotch a tad and add brown sugar extra. I didn't have it when I first made them. I went from memory on recipe. I used 1% for walnut.

They are. They're the most realistic tasting and potent out there. Except for Medicine Flower (from what I've read - I haven't had a chance to try any of their flavors yet). I'll start a thread on Flavourart tomorrow so we can see what people like the most and get their opinions.

I use flavourart almost exclusively now. not necessarily by choice, but I just don't have the money to branch out yet. If I could I'd get some flavors from capella and tfa. TFA it seems is a bit harder to get a recipe right and in my limited experience with them it seems they're not quite as forgiving as FA. With FA if you get a recipe "wrong" there's still a good chance it will at least be vapable unless you're way off like putting way too much in or mixing flavors that have absolutely 0 reason to go with each other. TFA though it seems like if you don't get the %s just so it's gonna taste like someone took a dump in your mouth, but if you get comfortable with TFA you can make some AMAZINGLY tasty vapes. I had a recipe a long time ago with their RY4 double and I forget what else in it and I could vape that for days and days and never tire of it.

The dry hits issue could be any number of things, but I highly doubt the flavors themselves are what's causing your dry hits. That sounds more like a wicking/air flow/ coil position issue, or if you're using a tank depending on the kind you could be using too much VG and not enough PG and it's simply not flowing as fast as you need it to.

It's VG/PG not PG/VG

Don't use cap, but if I had to choose one FA I can't live without it would be their custard.

I use cap's graham cracker v2 and I like it just fine. I cut it in half with PG first though cause it's an insanely strong flavor.
