Spring loaded pin...why the fuss?

What is the big deal about a spring loaded pin? I see comments about it quite often. Im not being sarcastic, I'm honestly not sure of the big deal. I think most of my mods do not have spring loaded pins and they seem fine with an array of tanks/RDAs

Spring loaded pins allow instant contact to all attys or tanks...some are adjustable 510's with a screw and you have to fiddle with it to get the atty or tank to sit flush while making contact as well..sometimes adjusting it ,then screwing on the atty or tank turns the screw down as you turn the atty or tank and doesnt make contact...Spring loaded rules.

Thanks. I guess the reason why i asked is it seems as though none of my 4 mods, which I dont think they have spring loaded pins (maybe the sigelei does)and I just screw anything on and have never had an issue.

Always good to have tanks or attys that work with what you have but,at some point you will have one that doesnt or wont sit flush without some manual adjusting providing its even adjustable..some arent.

My first box (rdna 30 clone) did not have a spring loaded or adjustable pin and most of my attys and tanks would not work until I took it to my local B/M and the kid at the counter had to carefully pull it out with a tool to finally get my tanks to work. I still use my mod, I just make sure all my new mods have spring loaded pins.

Personally I've found that the spring loaded or adjustable pin isn't needed for any authentic "off the shelf" tanks. However with clones and drippers the 510 connector can be a little to short or long. The latter is the bigger problems as it will compress an non adustable pin into the insulator making your "correct length" connectors no longer make proper contact. Screw style adjusters are great for high power usages but a pain. I prefer and only use APVs that have spring loaded center pins.

Yeah its kind of silly, but kind of like electric windows. Not needed (pin clearance) but nice to have :)

I refuse to buy a box that doesn't have stainless 510 threads and a spring loaded pin unless it can be fitted with a proper connector that has those features. The physical and electrical connection between a mod and atomizer are too important to accept soft threads and fixed pins.

Most mod makers have moved to stainless threaded, spring loaded 510's. It makes for a better connector. What's funny about not being willing to accept an inferior component when it's such an important part?

Also, certain tanks (RDAs too?) have spring-loaded pins. Subtanks do. But my iSub doesn't. So if I went to put it (the iSub) on a mod that had a fixed 510 connector, there's a chance that the iSub's pin might be too short (no connection) or too long (works but tank won't sit flush on the mod).

The subtank pin is not spring loaded. It uses a rubber grommet to locate the pin which gives a little. Fixed atty pins are fine when the mods pin is sprung.

Nice setup is that a FatDaddy you put on the MVP 2? I'm trying to hack one into a Sigelei mini for a friend as he trashed his threads.

I think I saw a video on the tube somewhere, on how to install the FD connector, might not be a Sigelei mini. However, it's the same/similar procedure.

The mvp2 has a fatdaddyvapes 510 v3 and the hana clone has fasttech's version of a varitube 510 which is pretty much a variation of a fatdaddy connector. Not sure about a sigelei mini, but the sigelei 100's and 150's can easily be fitted with a fdv 510.

The Subtank does indeed have a spring loaded 510 connection. The new Subtank Plus doesn't (from what I understand).
