Re-mixing for lower nic level

I DIY my own juice and have been for a while. I have been using a nic level or 16-18mg. I recently made up 240ml of my favorite juice at that level. But, I've just started using the Kanger Subtank mini and have certainly found out that I need to greatly reduce my nic level. Anyone have a formula for doing that with juice already made? I make a 50/50 vg/pg juice with about 24% total flavorings. Any help would be appreciated!

You can cut the nic level by making a no nic batch and and combining. An example would be taking 30ml of your 18mg juice and adding 30ml of no nic juice. Your nic would be cut in half to 9mg. You can cut the 9mg to 4.5mg simply by doing it again.

Thanks Time! Seeing it in print makes it make a lot of sense! Looks like I'm going to have plenty of juice for a while.

The kanger subtank can handle 30/70 high VG just fine so if you want to produce more vapor, here's your chance. :D

I just did this exact same mistake, I have bottles of 12mg nic juice & want to cut it in 1/2, so I'm gonna be doing this today. 1 other question I have is, should I still steep the no nic juice, by itself, or combine both & then steep? I'm grateful for any help..:)

Depends if the flavours / juice you're using needs a steep or is a shake and vape

Edit - Oh seems you usually steep. I'd imagine that combining then steeping would be a better option

Ah yea I've had a lot of custard in the past. Most seem to think it improves with a steep. I never had the patience and would jump straight in, and as the old taste buds seem to differ from day to day, I always found it hard to find a great deal of improvement from steeping. Some days I'd love it, some days not so much, regardless of whether it was freshly mixed or not. My taste buds are all over the place as I'm a foody and eat a vast variety of foods so I find that on certain days some flavours just don't suit. If you are gonna steep the nic free batch though, I'd mix it with the older nic'd batch first

Ok, I will do exactly that then. I love the flavors of these 2 juices, but my nicotine "need" has taken a big drop, so yeah, gonna run out to a bakery store & find me some 250 ml bottles today.....lol...I am grateful for the advice! Have a great weekend my friend...:)

Yea I used to vape 18mg through gennies with 1mm air holes. When I started dripping I had to drop to 5mg. I still like a tight draw compared to most these days, but yea, the more vapour your device produces, the less nic you need.

Keep in mind mate that I'm no pro when it comes to DIY mixing. Been doing it for 1-2 years and only just starting to get my head around it now, mainly thanks to this forum and HIC in particular. As I'm quite a good cook, and LIVE for food, I assumed mixing great flavours would be easy, but quickly found out that it's a completely different ball game to cooking.

As to steeping, I'm definitely not the best guide. While I usually find that if I don't like a flavour off the bat, I probably won't like it after a steep, or even not be able to tell much difference, I've read many posts about people saying that mixes have been transformed after steeps, and have no doubt that they were. Hopefully some more experienced mixers can chime in here too. Only one way the find out what works for you. Try both steeped and un-steeped.

Anyway, have yourself a great weekend too

Never steep with the nicotine in it. Best way to steep, is to let the flavor mixture oxidize. Leave the bottle open a little to let air in. Air and heat are the major components to oxidation. Oxidation for nicotine is bad, causes it to smell funny, taste harsh and peppery. Personally I never steep, usually I mix my flavor concentrates to the recipe I want for large quantities, when I'm ready for a small batch, I then mix in the pg, vg, and nicotine batch. So you have two batches, one for the flavors only, then another for the nicotine, vg, and vg.

Everyone has their own opinion, true, but this sounds like a hell of alot of work, and then the wait for the flavors to steep, then the time to set back up and then mix in the rest of the ingredients. I've been using VT nic for a long time now, and I've yet to see it go bad & taste peppery after I crock pot everything. Plus, I just don't have the patience to wait on everything to meld together sitting on a shelf. I want to mix and steep, the same day, and then vape the next after I let it sit overnight.

Since you are speed steeping, I'd steep the no nic juice before combining. That way, both batches will have gone through the same process.

I shelf steep so for me, I'd just combine and put it on the shelf.

Personally, I'd mix them together and taste them, if I thought it needed more time, I'd give it more time. I think with half already mature, it will not be like making a fresh batch, if that makes any sense. All that being said, I'm primarily a shake and vape kind of guy. Good Luck!

Cheers,
Steve

PS I recently had to cut my Nic. I was using 12-15mg/ml in a few Kayfun light +'s. Just mixed up a few batches at 12. Then I received a Billow V2. After less than a tank it was apparent I had to cut it down (or my head was going to spin like in the exorcist lol). I settled on 4.

Thanks Time, that is how I will do it then. And I'll let the new batch sit overnite to cool down, and combine tomorrow morning. I made 2 small batches today, trying out max PG, & then max VG, & I'm kinda leaning on the max PG version right now. I'll try the max VG later tonite, and go from there. Just hope it doesn't confuse me any more than I already am...lol And thanks a bunch for the help, I'm grateful to ya....

One other question I thought of, is, if one of the juices is 50/50, how can I make them both max PG?

You're not going to be able to do that since it's already 50/50. What you can do is make your no nic batch all PG. That way you mix the batches it will be 75/25 PG/VG

Was afraid of that. I made the 2 different batches today, and reversed the PG/VG on both, and like I said earlier, I'm kinda leaning on the heavy PG. So, I guess from now on, after these are used up, I'll just start doing all max PG blends....Thanks for the guidance, gonna make notes to remember this for sure...

As you can see I edited the post, when I read it at first I thought you were saying you wanted max VG. I guess I'm so use to people saying they use max VG that I saw that. I need a proof reader :p

I wouldn't recommend going over 70/30 PG/VG in your mixes. PG is pretty thin and you may encounter flooding with a higher percentage. Also VG is responsible for the vapor so imo you want at least 30 unless VG really bothers you.

PG is thinner, a lot of people say it carries flavor better, some also say it can enhance throat hit.

VG is thicker, I think it has a slightly sweet taste, makes the vapor.

If your not sure what percentage mix you favor, try mixing 3 small batches exactly the same but vary the percentage of PG/VG in each. Maybe something like 70/30, 50/50, & 30/70. Then try them all and see which you prefer. Good luck in your DIY journey!

Cheers,
Steve
