I did sumthin really stupid!! I put chicken, potatoes, and green beans in can cooker. A little later It started to smell like fried chicken. Hmm, I thought why is it smelling like fried chicken, it's never smells this way. I just never minded that thought until about seven minutes before the timer went off. OHHHH CRAP (more like ohhhhh shit!!!!!!) I literally did this  and wanted to do this :headbang: but I refrained from doing so. I had forgotten to put in the WATER !!!!! I did a few more of these :cuss2: :cuss: and went ahead and put water in it, though it was just a tad too late :teehee:
The Good Thing.....It was still really yummy and good....PHEW !!!!!!!
One of the dumb things I am famous for is startin a pot of coffee and forgettin the pot

No I forgot to put the glass pot back under to catch the coffee comin out  Yup I am a pro at it too, done it many times.

Uh oh. I'm surprised it hasn't shorted out.

Time to switch to a manual pour-over system. If you leave it off heat of course the coffee will cool off. If you put it on a burner you'll need a heat ring to raise the pot.

Better than starting a fire.

On Amzn see: Bodum 34 Oz Pour Over Coffee Maker, High-Heat Borosilicate Glass with Reusable Stainless Steel Filter and Cork Grip

You don't have to buy it there. It's pretty inexpensive, only 19.00.

Or a French press, my favorite when I need to make a whole pot of coffee for company. For myself alone, I make one cup at a time, but I use a 20 oz. cup, with a reusable filter thingie that fits on the cup, 2 heaping tablespoons organic ground coffee. Pour the hot water into the cup, then dunk in the coffee and let it soak a couple of minutes.

Good for loose tea too.

Nothing could be easier. Here's a vid, and in spite of what it says, the coffee does NOT have to be coarse ground. Regular grocery store ground coffee is fine. Make it as strong or as mild as you like:

At the end of the day it all goes in the dishwasher.

And to avoid having to keep it warm on a heat source, there are actually thermal french press sets on the market. This is only one of many:

Just moved 6 each 50 pound bags of soil from the display at Home Depot to the cart. Then from the cart to my car. Then from my car to the raised flower bed. Then finally emptied into the raised bed. That's 1200 pounds of dead lifting. I'm beat, but in a good way. I'll see what my body says about this later today/tomorrow.

I would say you've earned a fat burger & a hot fudge sundae, but it probably doesn't work that way for a normal gopher like you.
